  1. Can you help me?????? For some strange reason, NONE of the PQ's I've generated are getting to my e-mail box. Yep, GC.Com has the correct e-mail address, and the PQ's are being generated according to the PQ page. I've been doing this a few years now, but I don't know what I'm suddenly doing wrong? Pete
  2. ... and anytime a cache appears to be near anything very metallic, start thinking 'magnetic nano!'
  3. My beautiful wife bought me a new phone.... a Palm Centro!!!!! It rocks! I loaded cachemate onto it (AWESOME PROGRAM). Just beware if you choose to go this route... the salespeople at the wireless stores will do ANYTHING to get you to sign a contract for a data package. My wife was insistent we didn't want or need a data package, and they FINALLY sold us the phone. Verizon is a real bugger for that; you can't buy hardly any Palm phone without the data package. I have pictures of Cachemate in action with my Centro on my blog. Click HERE.
  4. A PN-40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????? I hate you! Excuse me, I've got a letter to write to Santa....
  5. Gotta say, I'm a Garmin 60cx man, but the PN-20 looks pretty sweet.
  6. Pretty much. Forums are a nice, safe place for Internet Tough Guys to say and do things they wouldn't have the guts to do face-to-face (without getting decked). Ignore 'em. Go caching, instead! Cache Safe, Grigorii Rasputin
  7. MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!!!! Don't worry, you'll be an ol' pro before you know it! Grigorii Rasputin http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
  8. Yesssssereeee, Bob!!! Here it is!!! Cache Safe, Cache Strong! Grigorii Rasputin http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
  9. Ditto. As an active-duty police veteran of 15 years, I can tell you we WOULDN'T place a stupid sticker like this anywhere. We'd probably just throw the cache away and that would be that. Also, the street-corner lawyer that made up this sticker obviously doesn't understand the laws he is quoting. Cache Safe, Cache Strong! Grigorii Rasputin http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
  10. Welcome to Geocaching! What you are referring to is what we call 'geo-sense'. It's kinda that 'sixth sense' that comes with time and experience. After you've done several caches, it'll start to sharpen. However, just when you think you've seen everything.... BAM! Some evil cacher out there throws you a serious curve ball!!!!! Now, get out there and CACHE!!!! Cache Safe, Cache Strong! Grigorii Rasputin http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
  11. WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME!!!!!! Yes, geocaching can be worse than drugs, but at least it is a healthy addiction!!!!!! And, don't apologize for your 'noobness'. The people who would complain about this are the ones who forgot they were once 'noobs'!!!!! Cache Safe, Cache Strong! Grigorii Rasputin http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
  12. An excellent idea, especially if stopped my muggles who also happen to be police offficers!!! Cache Safe, Cache Strong! Grigorii Rasputin http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
  13. No, when I download new PQ's onto my 60cx, all of the old waypoints STAY, and the new ones are simply added. Cache Safe, Cache Strong! Grigorii Rasputin http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
  14. Hope you get it sorted out! Cachemate is awesome. I, too, use it with GSAK. Together, they are a great team! Cache Safe, Cache Strong! Grigorii Rasputin http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
  15. Delete it, ignore it, move on! There's so much crap floating around in the e-mail system these days. Better to not even open an email you don't recognize or expect! Grigorii Rasputin http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
  16. I just spent last weekend with my cousin cross country skiing. However, just because your skiing doesn't mean you can't work in a little geocaching at the same time!!!! We had a blast. I start by looking for cross country ski trails in the larger metroparks or state parks here in Michigan. Very often, I'll find several caches along the same trail. Of course, you can do these same caches while snowshoeing, too!!! Cache Safe, Cache Strong! Grigorii Rasputin, http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
  17. Now, THAT'S the key to a perfect marriage!!!! Grigorii Rasputin http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
  18. Is it just one topo map, or is it (as you said 'maps'?). That is a distinct possibility that it is the 'overlay'. But these 'double' countor lines - are they broken, or are the contour lines truly doubled at certain elevations or all elevations at a given location? Any chance you can post a photo of these double lines?? I'm thinking the maps are typically straight at the edges (as are many other electronic maps) and that would be reflected in what you see. I'm very jealous, by the way!!!!!! Grigorii Rasputin http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
  19. WELCOME TO GEOCACHING!!!!!!! As you'll soon find out, there's more than one way to skin a cat! You can use just about anything. Enjoy! Grigorii Rasputin http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
  20. I use a Palm 500 which I bought for $30, though, you'd be surprised where you can find them. I even saw one once at a Salvation Army thrift store. Here's a great place for Palms and (especially) the accessories: http://www.pdaparts.com Something to consider: Do you buy a PDA that can be recharged, or one that uses batteries????? IMHO, get a RECHARGEABLE PDA!!!! The old Palm III series work great, but one that I have at work sucks the batteries dry even if the Palm is off!! Though you can buy one of these for about $15. There are all kinds of ways to charge the PDA, too. At the website I gave you, there are wall chargers, cigarette lighter chargers, emergency battery packs, etc. Please check out my blog for some more about paperless caching!!!! One word of warning!!! Once you start paperless caching, you'll never cache the same way again!! (But, that's a good thing!). Now, I'm always looking for a new PDA!!! 21. Hey!!! You keep the copy. That way, you always have the TB number, and you can always send out another TB with that same number in case the first is lost / stolen!!! Cache Safe, Cache Strong!!! Grigorii Rasputin http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
  22. GSAK, DEFINITELY!!! I've been using it for about a year and love it. It does an awful lot more, too. In fact, I'll probably never use 50% of it's brainpower, but the 50% I do use is really useful. Good Luck! Grigorii Rasputin http://grigoriirasputin.wordpress.com
