  1. Huh. I don't get that. If you want a challenge to reflect a certain achievement, than make the achievement the requirement. Using a souvenirs as proxies for achievements is just plain silly. And what about challenge caches based on traveling? E.g. continents, countries, states. Now you can accomplish such a challenge without leaving your home. It is already happening. Or D/T matrix challenge caches. The D/T combination should not have been so high and they should have been placed within e.g. Washington state as this is the closest region. But maybe the joke would lost something, I don´t know. Nonetheless these caches are really good joke. They have very good cache description and thus a lot of efforts had to be put into this caches.
  2. Everyone who have already found cache(s) in Turkey will get this souvenir after all are released. So probably next week when the last country souvenir is released.
  3. Yes, you are right. Cachers are still asking for them or trying to convince GS to change their decision about them. But I think it is not a problem of grandfathering, because many cachers have the same wish about locationless caches, which were completely removed from geocaching. I think it is question of their icons. People want them in found/published cache profile. But I hope if any there will be only challenge requirements grandfathering not challenge cache itsefl.
  4. Archived is the best way... too much drama to save the grandfathered caches...way too much... if you dont believe me... look at the webcam caches and virtual... enough said. What drama are you speaking about? If GS changes the guidelines about challenge caches so all owners will have to change their cache descrptions and challenge requirements. Did you see any drama with earthcaches when the guidelines about them were changed significantly? Hopefuly GS will not do too much restrictions otherwise there will be no challenge any more and such caches can be archived once and for all. btw. webcam and virtuals cannot be compared with challenge caches. They publication were stopped for completely different reason(s).
  5. I think it is quite clear. If you should think about what "community members have indicated they don't like about challenge caches", than you should agree or disagree if the statement is problem for publishing challenge caches. That´s all. e.g. "traveling long distances to find qualifying caches" means that this parameter is problem for publishing challenge caches. According to your post you disagree with it (as I did too). I totally disagree, that may possibly be what the question setter meant but it isn't what the question is actually asking, the question is "Rate your level of agreement or disagreement with each statement." all the statements are then factual statements which generally are true, they aren't statements indicating that they are bad things. Someone from GS is explaining it in parallel thread about this survey. And it is similar as I wrote here. How you explain it is irrelevant.

  7. I agree with idea to remove lab caches from total finds for now. I think it can be more successful if there are no problems with statistics because no one will hesitate to log them. And once this experiment is finished and lab caches will be like other caches (at least will have GC code) you can count them in total finds again. Lab caches are great idea and it will be also great if they are like other caches.
  8. Ha Ha Ha, this is good joke from Groundspeak. They do not have enough people to do country souvenirs, but probably they have enough people to do useless 31 august souvenirs. I am definitely not surprised, it is Groundspeak with all its suprises. So what is next? 24 souvenirs for caching each hour in a day? Nonetheless, it is still game, so I do not see any problem with this.
  9. I am Czech cacher and I do not agree. ;-)
  10. Oh well, you can ask yourself whether it is better to accept less and have something or to want everything and have nothing. I have also visited many foreign countries but I am still planning to visit new one and sometimes those I have already been to. But it is still better for me to have souvenir from my future travel than have nothing.
  11. I think that the reason why they stopped country based souvenirs was problem with their releasing. There were too many cachers that did not get these souvenirs retroactively even though they found caches in the souvenir countries/states. These cachers were sending so many e-mails to Groundspeak that after releasing US states, Canadian provinces, German states + 4 EU countries they decided to stop it. The question is: Is it possible to fix this problem? If yes, why it is taking so long to continue with these souvenirs. If not, why not to omit just retroactive releasing. I know that many cachers would be disappointed since they´ve already found cache in some countries, but it is better to get souvenirs this way than get nothing.
  12. Moun10Bike, do you know if there are plans to change the icons for any other Virtuals that are really Locationless? For example, the Pennsylvania NGS Benchmark Recovery Cache, which was described as a Locationless by the reviewer and referred to Groundspeak a couple of years ago... Groundspeak ruled that it's a grandfathered cache that is allowed to exist in its current form, a decision that was reaffirmed by the reviewer a few months ago. It's most definitely a Locationless cache - updating that icon as well would make things a lot more clear? http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...=y&decrypt= I think that changing this cache (or any other like this one) to locationless would cause immediate archiving of these caches (locationless caches are not allowed). Is it really what you want? To archive them??
  13. Big THANKS to Moun10Bike. Thank you very much, I am glad I got this nice one finally.
  14. Just waiting for any solution (I have already contacted GS about this), I can´t do more. I believe they fix that, because this is the purpose of souvenirs - visiting zones - logging caches - getting souvenirs. The retroactive awarding is just question of certain time when all souvenirs are released. After that being awarded by souvenir after logging cache should work without any problems, because it will be the only way how to get them.
  15. Exactly what I did in S. Carolina. I have 10 caches found there, but still no souvenir. Posted problem at feedback forum and nothing, Ask GS directly via their "contact us" form ans so far nothing. I hope they help me (and also themselves) with this possible bug. Otherwise it looks like I should first cache somewhere, before the souvenir is released, to get it.
  16. Hmmm...you seem to have a huge vested interest in this topic. Is there something you're not telling everyone? Everyone who likes earthcaches and C.S.´s ideas (other than just stealing his ideas to resubmit them as his own ones) are interested in this topic, IMO.
  17. Oh well, another one. Do you understand word "IF"? I did not say it is now as nothing proves it is personal right now. I have never said it is personal now. I expected it would not be unarchived as GS had never done it before.
  18. Proof? Oh well, I expected that from you. No surprise. Please read my post again and maybe again until you understand that completely. (hint: IF CS is still "special" cacher for GS even after ban) Any reason why some cacher could not have the possibility to ask reviewer to unarchive his/her cache?
  19. If his ban is over he will be cacher like anyone else. And anyone can ask reviewer to unarchive his/her cache if it is possible. If not, than it is definitely personal from someone in GS. It is nothing special to unarchive EC, I have already seen it.
  20. How long will his ban last? Is it really two months or it was extended? If only 2 months he can ask reviewer to unarchive many of them. If there is no other EC, it should be possible.
  21. Thanks for trying. It is sad but it was expectable. Well, I hope at least the best one will be saved for other people.
  22. Let´s wait what will be GS respond to Joranda´s request. They should answer although for them it could be already closed chapter. If their respond is negative (I hope it won´t be) then we can discuss about saving them. At least those that will meet new guidelines.
  23. No offense, but you "speak" like you would already resubmit several his ECs.
  24. Yes, I know that. I disagree but completely respect it.
