  1. I agree with subscription only caches, especially at first . I also believe in membership fees to those who want it. Someone has to support the sport. Also, I enjoy "giving back" to a sport/activity that has given me so many memories, fun, and great times . I do commend them for allowing individuals to join for free, but think about the fun of geocaching!!! $30 bucks is nothing compared to the coffee and movies some of us buy or rent. Where else can $30 a year buy you so much fun...? Wait some of us probably shouldn't answer that
  2. The day I bought my City Select and spoke to the garmin rep about the upgrade... She confirmed exactly what Doug in Alaska stated. City select is now discontinued, however we might be offered an upgrade at a cheaper price. Register your City Select if you haven't done so...
  3. Thanks, THese didn't pop up when I googled for shirts GomezK
  4. Hi All - Looking for some help in locating a geocaching polo shirt. Any clubs have them for sale? I am presenting the topic geocaching at two educational conferences this year and would like to wear a polo shirt instead of a t-shirt to present in. I am presenting at the Massachusetts State Associtation of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and the Eastern district conference which includes, NY, ME, MA, VT, NH, DE, NJ, MD, CT, District of Columbia, NY, PA, Puerto Rico, RI and the Virgin Islands. Any info anyone has or information they would like me to present would be welcome because Massachusetts does not have a geocaching association....
  5. My 60cs is in the mail, won't get here until Monday What will I do this weekend
  6. I'll have to give GSAK a try. It's posted all over the forums. Until I learn to master the program I will always have EasyGPS as a back up. Thanks I'll keep searching the forums for more info from users on GSAK.
  7. goodrecipe7 We have noticed a significant difference using the external antenna on a map76 vs the vista in the past. With the external antenna we get much better reception. I know I can use the same antenna on my 60cs, however we just competed in a 2 day geocaching tournament and we lost a lot of time unhooking the units rather than grabbing and going. I'd like to keep the garmin 18 hooked up to the laptop and race to the cache.
  8. Thanks - I'll let you know how we make out.
  9. We have City Select, 3 gps units and 2 laptops. Can we unlock a 3rd unit, city select states you can only unlock 2? We want to use the garmin 18 hooked up to the laptop and we want our 60cs and legend c to geocache, but also want the ability to use the auto routing on our other units. We purchased the software and want to use it to the fullest. I am not buying city select for one more GPS. Help!!! I'm already broke from our previous purchases....
  10. Thanks, I'll look into that. But what if my husband and I each have a GPS and want to use the garmin 18. We do a lot of geocaching and would like to use the 18 to get us to the location and the 60cs and the legend c to cache? Could we use all 3 on city select?
  11. I just purchased a Garmin 60CS for auto routing, but I am also wondering about a garmin 18 for navigating with my laptop? Do I need city select for the Garmin 18. Also do I need cityselect to auto-route with my 60cs. Any comments...
  12. Thanks for all the help! We are going to purchase a Garmin 60cs. Can't wait to get it.
  13. What is everyone using to upload geocaching waypoints into their GPS? I currently use EasyGPS, but I read an article " http://gpsinformation.us/vistacolor/etrexvistacolor.html " stating that EasyGPS may not work with the Legend/Vista C. How about a garmin 60cs? Any comments? I'd like to know before I commit to purchase. Any feedback would be helpful.
  14. We are upgrading units from a garmin eTrex Vista and a garmin GPSmap 76 and are going to use the money to purchase a new unit. Any suggestions on a good garmin that will do auto navigation and geocaching? We were also thinking about purchasing a garmin 18 for the laptop to go along with the new unit. Please share you comments. Number 1 on our list is the 60cs!
  15. Hi All! I'm interested in a garmin 18 with the cityselect nroute software. Any ideas on good prices, or anyone have one for sale? Also any comments on the item would be helpful... Thanks
  16. I am selling my Toshiba e755 PDA. Used it a bit for caching. I just should break down and get the expansion pack..., but I'm choosing to move on. Ebay Item#: 5786764368 My PDA for sale on ebay More Images http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
  17. I just checked my page and the log went through. I can't figure it out. Wow! I didn't get the option of completing #6 in the directions so I just edited my log and placed the name there. At least I am happy now
  18. Emailed the owner. He stated that it is inactive right now. He said we will just have to wait and see what will happen. But if it is inactive, how come other people have been able to log right onto it within the past few days?
  19. Made a new bug and planeted it, but I can't seem to log it. The travel bug number keeps coming up not valid. Any suggestions...
  20. Thanks for the info. I really helped. I have created a clone I just need to place it somewhere. Wonder if this will really work? GomezK
  21. I came across a wierd travel bug in a cache today. It was called chain reaction. It had some directions in it and a photo copy of a tag & number. I am not quite sure what to do or if I should do anything. I tried to search for it online but I couldn't figure it out. I may have to go back there and check it out again. Please help...
  22. Thanks for the input. I didn't realize some of the comments that were given. I appreciate it. I hope this helps others.
  23. I just purchased streets and maps 2004 and was a current mapsource user. Are there any tips/suggestions/dislikes for using streets and maps? Just curious to see who like what better and why... Streets and maps seems just as easy to use, but I haven't tried it with my garmin gpsmap76s
  24. I have both the map76s and the vista. We like both. I enjoy the screen better on the 76 (it's larger). we have used the vista for biking but when you get into tree cover it's just like any other GPS. We use the 76 for driving in the car with the external antenna mounted to the roof of the car. I thought about mounting the external antenna to the top of my bike helmet. That should give me great reception, but then again it depends where you are biking GomezK
