  1. You've evidently never attended MOGA. Come on up and join in the fun. Most attendees don't compete but plenty do.
  2. Obviously, you know absolutely nothing about golf. If it were easier than geocaching, I'd be on the PGA Tour.
  3. Everything dies sooner or later. It's inevitable.
  4. For all the Delorme PN owners out there that have heard some of us praise the performance of the "CabBat", I thought I'd mention that it is once again available. Here is the link. The price has gone up but I think it's still worth it. It gets similar run times to Energizer non-rechargeable lithiums but can be recharged while in your PN. That means far less back cover removals and compass calibrations. Just in case anyone is wondering, I have no connection whatsoever to the makers of the CabBat, I'm just a satisfied customer.
  5. I allowed the update to run this morning and am having no problems with it at all. Running Android 2.2 on an Incredible.
  6. I may have missed it - does the pn-60 come with a preloaded basemap? Preloaded basemap, plus 1:100K vector topos of North America on DVDs in the box. And those maps on the DVDs include the detailed routable roads. The hi-res stuff I mentioned would be any hi-res imagery you download from Delorme if you get the annual map library subscription for $30 a year.
  7. Delorme had mentioned that it would be a few weeks behind the mac version.
  8. It's not caches you have to worry about taking up room, it's maps, especially if you want to load a bunch of the nice hi-res stuff. Most PN users find that a 16gb SD card gives a decent amount of space without breaking the bank.
  9. Dimensions & Weight: • 5.5" x 9" x 2" • 2.6 pounds including strap & standard batteries If ultimate device means not lugging it around in the woods to search for geocaches then I guess this isn't too bad.
  10. Sorry about that. Should have checked the other posts a little better.
  11. For those who would rather not see their car catch fire: Garmin recall
  12. The PN-40 is compatible with GSAK. You can simply do a PQ covering a radius around the event just large enough to include the farthest event cache placed and further refine that in GSAK by the users that placed the event caches.
  13. As Red90 points out, Sat imagery and aerial imagery are not the same although they are both offered in Delorme's map subscription. Delorme mentioned quite some time back in their blog that a new offering of high resolution imagery would soon be available covering areas outside the US and indicated it would be a separate subscription plan than the current offering. I've seen no prices mentioned yet.
  14. It would be up to Bushnell to provide this support to Groundspeak and since Bushnell doesn't seem too interested in providing geocaching features in their devices, I doubt you'll ever see your request come to fruition.
  15. Perhaps you could be a little more specific on how you're trying to load caches to the device and why you need to remove the SD card. I've had no problems loading pocket queries by dropping the unzipped gpx file from GC directly on the SD card (while still in the 60), using GSAK or using Topo NA 9.
  16. T8 won't play a role in uploading your field notes and even though you may have multiple finds in different PQs, the finds are all placed in the same single "fieldnotes.txt" file on the PN. Follow this link and click on the Delorme tab for instructions on uploading your field notes.
  17. Why not skip a step and just save it directly to the SD card out of GSAK? I'm used to the oregon that you copy the pq directly to the garmin/gpx dir and your caches are all there on display. Can the pn-40 do this or uses another method. Caches can be loaded to the new PN-60 and the PN-40 with FW 2.8 that way.
  18. I assume you're not using GSAK so I'll stick to methods using Topo 8. First, There are no issues with FW 2.7 and wrong icons. The only reason the icons would be wrong is if you don't make sure your GPX version preference in your GC profile is set correctly for the 40 or you're using GSAK and have a wrong setting. To make sure your GPX version is set correctly follow these steps: This corrects an issue created when Groundspeak added GPX 1.0.1 attribute functionality a while back. The PN-40 does not play well with GPX 1.0.1 and prefers the original GPX 1.0. 1- go to GC.com and click on YOUR PROFILE 2- then click on Your Account Details 3- scroll to the bottom of that page to Your Preferences 4- if it is set to 1.0.1, skip to step 10 5- click on change 6- find GPX Version Preference and change it to 1.0.1 7- click on Save Changes 8- click on change again 9- if the GPX Version Preference setting now says 1.0, go back to step 6 (yes really) 10- find GPX Version Preference and change it to 1.0 11- click on Save Changes 12- re-run the PQs that have the version problem, the new PQs should be OK The instructions for loading multiple PQs to the 40 using Topo 8 are as follows: (this applies only to FW 2.7) Note: Start with a clean slate, no caches or waypoints in internal memory of your PN-XX 1. Unzip the PQ. 2. Drag-n-drop the main geocache gpx file and child waypoint gpx file onto the map screen of Topo 8 3. Click on the "Exchange" button (PN-40 icon at top of Topo screen). 4. Select the GPX files you just brought into Topo from the left side of the screen and click send (one at a time). The PQ is now in internal memory 5. On the PN-40 go to menu>waypoints>menu>file>save as and give the PQ a name. It's now saved to the SD card. 6. Delete all geocaches/waypoints. Don't worry, the file will remain on the SD, it's just removed from internal memory. 7. Repeat all steps to load another PQ and continue the process for as many PQs as you can fit on the SD (lots). To open files from SD card: menu>waypoints>menu>file>open
  19. What model GPSr are you planning to use with it?
  20. Magellan's Vantagepoint software should work for you.
