Learn something new every night. I didn't know I had that address feature in my Vista. Looked it up after seeing your post. I have Metroguide,RoadsNRecreation, and Blue Chart. I loaded the maps from RoadsNRecreation so that feature isn't usable. But will try it out with the Metroguide. Cool..

Matter of fact, I just thought of a great example where I met this really nice Belgian couple doin some USA geocaching. They were using the Legend, and kept pacing back and forth and around in circles trying to get a correct reading as they walked. They were looking for a micro that was small and under a dead tree branch. They passed over it about 10 times or more and finally asked if I had found it yet. I said that yes I had. he asked he could use my Vista to get a true bearing reading. Sure enough he went right to it. Just a personal experience I thought I would share with ya. It really does make it nice to get the true bearing reading.

I on the other hand purchased a Vista for my first GPS unit. One thing I will say I like about it is that the Vista has the true compass reading. The compass provides bearing information while you're standing still and the altimeter determines your precise altitude. While the Legend will only give you direction while you are moving. It does make it nice to stand still and get a good bearing reading.I have found this very useful, and found it worth the price.

I am fairly new to Geocaching. Most everything I have read in theses forums has been good reading. But truly this has got to be the most childish display of behavior I have seen yet. "His Name isn't really Mr.Snazz".. There is a freakin suprise!!! DUH!! who does use their real name? I think his idea of not using Ammo cans is rediculous and unfounded. But why not just say that? Name calling, insults and general bashing?... Can't we just leave those things to the lil kiddies chat rooms? I am getting ready to place my first cash.. and yes it is an ammo can. They are durable, water tight and a bit more likely to stay in place. I find it upsetting too that anyone would try to profit or make personal gain in this sport. It is a fun family sport, uncommercialized and fun.... lets keep it that way.

Ok, so I have the Degrees, Min, Sec of a geocache. How do I determine what the WGS84 code is for that coordinate?

Well, I am very new to the Geocaching world. Bought my first GPS a couple of days ago, (ETrex Vista) and just learned of Geocaching. I have found 2 so far and looking forward to many more adventures. I found that Geocache on the sight last night and was going to go today, guess that is out of the question now huh? lol. Oh well, many more around here to choose from. I am going to be placing one here soon that should be a really fun one. and there are no others too close to it that I have seen. (and not near any military zones)hehehe Too bad that had to happen, thought it was going to be a fun one. Sad part is before 911 no one would have probably thought anything about it.
