  1. From Lakeside we go: Hwy 67 to Santa Ysabel, to Hwy. 79, to S-2, to Hwy. 78. You don't need to go down Banner Grade, go that way, much easier! Splashette S-2 is San Felipe Rd, right? I forget, but I agree this is the quickest, although Garmin auto routers will want to take you through Julian. You can also substitute S2 with Montezuma Valley Rd that takes you through Borrego Springs. Not much longer and there be lots of caches along the way. Dillon Gang, didn't you take this route last year? San Felipe is right. That's the way we go because it's a lot safer when you're pulling a trailer. I agree, San Felipe (S2) to 78.....turn right on Split Mountain Road....address 6090 Split Mountain Road....the number is on the chain link fence....right side of the road. (wow! Would you consider that a spoiler? too much info huh?) Oh and there'll be a San Diego Geocachers Sign too! ...plus there's caches along this route.

Going down the grade is half the fun! Yea! Plus my little arrow was taking you the more scenic route! Sure! Over the hill and through the woods...
  4. It looks like a problem with the Mapquest website. The other map links (Yahoo, Google maps, Mappoint, Rand, etc.) all show the correct location. I tried several other cache pages and clicked on the map. They all go to the same point in Kansas.
  5. What's LE? Also how much are they? I'll probably get one of blue ones at the campout. only one??? OK maybe two! I'll take two too (no, not my tu-tu) at the campout if you have any extras. There's a lot of coins out there but the nice ones are worth buying.
  6. It might be worth more if say, oh I don't know, it came pre-loaded with the final coordinates of someones puzzle caches.
  7. The engineer at my company put this together for me a few months ago. It's not a survey but it gives a good idea where the boundaries are. It's based on the county assessors maps.
  8. Tell me about it, when I was quite young one of my older uncles would hold me down while the other would put the muzzle of their Red Ryder b-b gun against one of my fingernails and shoot. I finally figure out ways to punish them in return. Ouch! I didn't realize cowboys were so tough!
  9. Aah man!!! I just saw this post! We went riding in MTRP this morning and did ok but nothing like 30 FTFs. That seems like a late start to get up there and have enough time to ride before dark. I hope you don't run out of daylight.
  10. It's under the lamp post! Got enough apparatus?
  11. Duncan! and I are planning to do it in October...during the week...trying to get Chuy! to go with and make it an overnighter. I think your idea sounds better Dave - I may just wait then That's a nice caching trail. A group of us did a day trip up to those a few months ago. At that time there were 36 caches in that series. We parked cars at both ends and walked the trail east to west. I think it was about 5-6 miles but it was an easy walk. That sounds very fun mabye I can go. Is it Mountain bikes sreet bikes or both? Do we meet there at the the place at 5 AM? This is a great series. I haven't done the whole thing yet but I have done some sections. Mtn. bikes, street bikes, unicycles, anything will do. There can be a lot of walkers and joggers (muggles) too so you have to watch out for them. I have a family thing to do otherwise I'd join you too.
  12. 5:00 PM? Don't you people have jobs!? I was going to ask if the place they work is hiring...... We could delay this some if it means getting more people.. There is no moon that night so it will be dark. I work until 5PM. But I could skip eating dinner and get there around 5:30PM. There are 7 caches that I need in that area (see map) not counting the new ones that Richard hid across the street. Were you guys planning on hiking out through that middle valley to pickup GCNFG3 and GCV36B? I think that way might would cut out about a mile out of the hike. --snip-- Does that middle (with the Brownies) go all the way through? If so, then yes, we can bypass the more southern route. I figured that start from Ellie Lane and go north around the top, eventually hitting Ramona, then backtrack a little to go through the middle and hit and grab the Brownie caches. Which is easier, clockwise or counter-clockwise for Ellie Lane Loop? Starting at 5:30pm would not be a problem. TA I think it is better to park at the lot on Ellie Lane. Plus I wouldn't want to leave my car on 67 at night. I've heard stories. Since we are going in a loop there is no difference in the verticals going clockwise or counter-clockwise. But I figured we'd come down and hit the Brownie caches in the dark. I think it does go through now. Start at Ellie Lane and do the hike clockwise. The middle trail that passes Brownies works just fine for a shorter loop back along the ranch fence to Ellie Lane. You'll need to do some side trails to clear all the finds along that loop. Thanks Harmon, that's what I was thinking too. Anyhow, if you can guys can start later then I can go. I really need a day off from work, so I think I'm going to take this Friday off. That way I can be lazy and sleep in the next day. I haven't been doing a lot of hiking lately, so I was a little bit sore after our hiking on Saturday. THis never happens to the young guys. I have also gained some extra pounds from my inactivity, so I need to start doing more hikes like this again. Now I just need to think of what I can bring to eat for my dinner on the trail. Is there a McDonald's near any of those caches? Not sure about a McD's on the trail, but there has to be a Starbucks - there putting one up everywhere lately... i can bring ya a Power Bar and a bottle if Gatorade DON"T give him a Gatorade. Something in a paper cup please.

  14. Unless I'm mistaken, it is a tribble. They are considered quite rare in this part of the galaxy, and importing them is a serious crime!
  15. Have you seen my stapler? Love that movie!!!
  16. I was under the impression that they had made the choice to hold GW5 in North Carolina on May 26, 2007? Maybe I have some bad info? www.geowoodstock5.com Guess there's know need to worry about it now. Put my name on that list too. If the San Diego crew can put on a bigger event, that can only help to entice the Geowoodstock in the future.
  17. I love it! It's gotta be on a t-shirt! It is on a shirt, and a button, and a magnet...and you GOTTA see the thong! http://www.cafepress.com/mygeoswag/1076983 I already ordered two...T-shirts, not the thong.
  18. I love it! It's gotta be on a t-shirt!
  19. Cowabunga!!! Lets see...at least one cache a day, multiples on weekends...they should be there in a month!
  20. Trailgators hits the 1800 mark on the coast yesterday!!!
  21. That is the area I was thinking about! If we do Oceanside, we need to solve some puzzles by Samiaminca! For some reason, I don't get those....Do you have any preference? That looks good to me. We have an office up here so I've found a few over time but I probably need most if not all the same you need. Maybe we can meet at the North County Mall P&R around 9AM and head over to that area....We might as well start with Oceanside since Duganrm printed out the photo of the boat and all. I still don't get the Samiaminca puzzles. I think I've lost my mojo! What day is this? Tomorrow, but I'm flexible. So when is it gonna be? Is tomorrow OK? NC Mall P&R at 9AM.... Sounds good to me.
