  1. I was wondering why I don't have this souvenir showing because I found caches on 8/17/14. Even though International Cache Day was on 8/16/14, I have seen other members with this souvenir linked to a find on 8/17/14 as I did. Did I miss doing something? Can it still be awarded based on those finds?
  2. Got it!! Thank you all!! And..yes Gitchee-Gummee, I brought all of those with me from Germany. They were all in the same cache and they want mileage and/or to come to the Western side of the Globe before going back. A couple I will do the miles and bring back with me to Germany my next trip and some will stay here to go back to Canada and others will just go traveling as requested.
  3. Thank you Pup_Patrol (B.), but I don't see a visited option in the TB or GC summary page, nor in the cache log page. When I try to log the TB or GC again, it only gives me "Discovered" and "Write Note" as options.
  4. Maybe this was covered before, but I could not find it in the search. Perhaps I am searching for the topic incorrectly. How do I?... So I have some coins and some travel bugs that I picked up in Germany. I want to show the owners that they are moving and getting some mileage with me until I find a suitable cache to drop them off in. I have found some caches since I picked up the items 2 weeks ago, but they are micros or small, or possibly too exposed to muggles, or too remote with not a lot of visits, etc... I wanted to show that the TB or GC has gone to that place in its summary page, but I want to physically keep the item until I find the right cache to drop it in. I noticed that in some TB and GC the comment "took it to" shows and the person that had the item seemed to have kept it and took it to another place afterward. How do I do that? In other words, I want to take the TB or GC with me, show that it visited a cache, or a location, in the TB or GC tracking summary, but keep the item with me to take to another cache, or location and do it over and over so the TB or GC can get the mileage, until I find a suitable cache to drop it in. Is it possible? As an example, please check TB5H5AZ. Geocacher Mabudie took the item that belongs to Hojo-hojo to multiple places before finally dropping it off at cache Matrjoschka, where I found it and picked it up. Thank you for any help.

  7. For my "18" finds... I have been using my iPhone 5 with the Google Maps app to get to a waypoint and then the Geocache.com app to locate the cache location. So far I have not adventured too far, or tried to find high difficult caches. My question is: Can I mark my car with either of these apps? I can't figure out if it is possible? I think I will invest on a GPS soon anyway, but I would like to know for now while I am still using the iPhone. Thank you.
  8. Is there a place where I can see future events details? I checked the events calendar and I can see that there are events next Saturday and Sunday in Pennsylvania and I would like to attend one of those for the badge souvenir. But I want to see where they are and what type of event it is. Can I see that somewhere now? How? Thank you!!!
  9. This thread is very interesting. As you can see I am just so much of a noob at this that I shouldn't even post. But here it goes: My youngest daughter got me hooked just 2 weeks or so ago. When she first told me about what Geocache was and I looked at the website, the first thing I said to her was...blah this BS, I bet you money that people just say they found it to pad their stats and look good, but they did even go to the place. She told me "No way dad! You have to actually find it, get it, open it and sign the log book, or you cannot claim it as a find"!!!!! Well, I think she is right and it is the way it should be. I have been only looking for the beginner's caches to get some experience. Even those 1/1 or 2/2 can be a bit tricky to find when you are inexperienced. I did an earth cache yesterday and sent all the answers and the pictures to the owner. I thought earth caches would really be cool and that one did not disappoint. I will be looking for more of those in the USA. But I agree with my daughter and most of the community here, if you don't touch it, open it and sign the log...it is not a find. It did not happen.
  10. Sorry I wasn't very clear on the previous post. I use the geocaching.com, groundspeaks own app that cost $10 bucks on my iPhone. And it works well. My daughter had the free one and that works well too but as a previous poster mentioned you only get to see the traditional caches and I believe there are only so many that show with the free app. Then when you discover one, another traditional shows,etc... So knowing that from her experience I got the $10 only as my first download...as you can see I am very new at geocaching so I am thinking it works ok for now. Others with more experience may disagree.
  11. Groundspeaks own apps? Trial/basic one for free, more detailed one for a fee. Intro App Advanced App Yes it works great for me. I use it on my IPhone for now until I get more heavily into it and get a GPS. The only down side is the stupid battery short life on the iPhone...

Hello community, I am 10 days into the hobby with very little to show for yet...I live in Pennsylvania, USA but I am in Berlin, Germany this coming weekend with both days available for geocaching. If anyone wants to get together to geocache around the Berlin area post here and we can find a way to meet and have some geocaching fun!!!! Unfortunately though, I don't speak German... I have a car and GPS...driving, lunch and gasoline will be on me....
  14. I am trying to figure this out. If I understand correctly, an A = N, B = O, C = P and vice versa, is this correct? So if one writes NCCYR, it means APPLE! Is this correct? and PNG = CAT... If that is so, then I understand, but there must be more to it than that because I am trying to solve a mystery puzzle in German and when I do the letter substitution, the resulting "words" cannot be understood by a German friend.
