  1. I managed to contact Garmin and they remotely put a copy of the basemap back on my GPS... pretty cool to watch them do that.... thanks all!!!
  2. 4 Simple words to live by... "Happy wife...Happy Life"
  3. I believe I made a boo boo when updating my maps in my colorado 300... I accidently deleted the base map that came with the unit, which is not a huge deal, however, I'd still like to have access to it. Is there anywhere that this can be recovered?
  4. I believe the NMEA only works with a serial cable. Ah yes, I stand corrected. To use the Colorado/Oregon with non-Garmin software you need to set the device in Garmin Spanner mode, and then run Garmin Spanner on the PC to create the virtual COM port. Bad news for Microsoft Vista users -- Garmin spanner does not (will not) support Windows Vista. So.... if you run Windows XP or earlier you can get away without buying an additional cable / software (like GPSGate). Never did have any luck sourcing a Power/NMEA cable (would love one for my Ham radio rig to connect to my Colorado). As it was stated you can get Garmin Spanner for free... I've downloaded it and I can now hook my Colorado into programs such as Microsoft S&T... download the spanner software (link provided) and also set your gps to spanner as well... VOILA!!!! It works! Garmin Spanner download
  5. You do not need to. You can use both. The DEM shading will show with other maps being visible. I'm doing that right now... running 2009 North America NT with the DEM shading and I must say, it looks very nice!!! Now if they can only show the caches on the screen at the same time you run the 3D mapping

  14. I'm sure you already know this but... As wonderful as it sounds and as exciting it is to get that check, contact your local Sheriff. Mom got one of those about a year ago and it was very definitely fake even though it looked so real we couldn't tell the difference. Pay attention, save a life! Some quick detective work told me there wasn't that bank branch in the city it stated, so the check is definitely a fake...but no, that wasn't a surprise! I just wonder if the bank would know... You should send a "cheque" right back to them.... they'll try to cash it and maybe then they'll see what it's like to be had Pay attention, save a life!
  15. TB2QA5M is now activated and ready to go!!! Thanks Roddy!!! Pay Attention, save a life!!!
