  2. Same problem here in Texas. One PQ turned on for today. Normally I have it off unless needed.
  3. Just as a clicked on a topic, I saw your "recent" post while I was waiting for the page to refresh. As soon as it did I went to your post to read about the rebate. I've been waiting for the right time to get the Oregon 450 and now the time has arrived. Thanks for posting. Chris
  4. I have the same inconvenience. The habit I had to get into: zoom using the "zoom bar", only click once to select the start and end of the route. Then it saves it. Normally, you should be able to zoom using the wheel or double click. It would be nice to have the Start and End points by right clicking and selecting a point. But after much brainwashing, I got myself trained. (Most of the time)
  5. I'll jump on board this thread. My wife and I will be visiting the UK June 10 - 19, 2009. We live by Dallas, Texas, USA. Currently we have a Britrail pass and are going to Bath Spa, Edinburgh, York and London. I already have my PQ's built and ready to go. We look forward to seeing the tourist sites and the wonderful sights only Geocaching can provide. Hopefully we will meet some cachers on the trail. On May 22, we are going to Geowoodstock. Our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter live 20 miles south of Nashville, Tn. So we get to conquer two goals in one weekend. Keep on cachin, geocruise
  6. I've cached on the our last two cruises to Alaska. There are lots of walk n grabs in all the ports. I've run into other cachers on the trail in the ports. Then we cached together when time permitted. Very neat deal. We are taking a western Carib cruise next month and have my PQ ready to go. I've also contacted a cacher in Belize to be my maintenance partner for a couple of caches I hope to plant there. I wish I could get permission to hide some caches in in Costa Maya since there are none there. But there's not a cacher in the area to work with. I'm all for a caching cruise.
  7. I would not put a cache by a RR. There are plenty of other places to hide that where you don't have to think about asking this type of question. Just my 2 cents
  8. Go to Grapevine Mills Mall which is North of the airport, about 4 miles from the northern terminals. You can get at least 4 caches within walking distance. There are more if you have more time. The mall is a huge place and plenty of geogrub.
  9. I just placed an order on Walmart.com for a Legend HCx for $194.49us plus tax. I've had the Blue Legend for about 6 years and used it as an automobile GPS before getting into geocaching. I get frustrated with ole Blue when the arrow bounces around and looses lock with the satellites. I see they have a Etrex H for $86.88 which is rated 5 stars by reviewers. If I was going to spend any money on a GPSr, I would get a high-sensitivity GPS receiver. Then it’s a matter of what features you need.
  10. I've been "questioned" by several muggles during my searches. Depending to the situation, I'll make up something or tell them about the game. When I'm caught by the authorities, I'll always tell them about the game. Sometime they let me continue and other times they say to move on. I always keep an explanation paper in my geobag. I've used the excuse of looking for birds or other animals and marking the position.
  11. Go to the Magellan web site for support and you can download the manual for it. http://www.magellangps.com/support/product.asp
  12. Wow, I really like the map update today. I didn't post about the previous version because I don't like to complain. This version fixed all the things I didn't like: now I can really spot the caches on the map with the new icons, the list of the caches on the right, and the extra map views. Very cool stuff! Geocruise
  13. Got'er done. I'd also like to know how many surveys were completed.
