  1. There is an Adventure Lab at Danbury Country park in Essex, which has questions that either do not make sense or are totally incorrect. For example they ask for a 3 word answer when it required just one and the answer is not there anyway. I think they must be foreign because of the way they put the questions. Is there anything I can do to get these sorted. I wasted £3.40 car parking fees only to find three of the questions were unanswerable.
  2. Looking at the Ipswich Borough Council senior management structure chart for 2014 the Parks and Open Spaces Operations Manager is called Tim Snook. You could try contacting him and ask what the councils policy towards geocaching is. It may well be that there isn't a policy as such matters are often left at Park Ranger level which can be very confusing for geocachers and park staff alike. Thank you, at last someone who is willing to give helpful advice rather than suggesting I just give up. Thank you KK112. I must admit that the park rangers in Ipswich have been on the ball and some either know about Geocaching or if not they have read the blurb which I attach to my email and have responded positively to my requests. But it is the council owned buildings and roads that I am struggling to get through to. But really appreciate your response.
  3. Apologies, I thought the forum was the place to ask for help. My mistake. Time and trouble is not the issue but more to the point I want to get it right and ask the right people.
  4. You are quite correct in assuming that I have not yet gained permission, but my problem is trying to work out from whom I need to get permission? Hence my question in the first instance. Help is being sought from members on this forum.
  5. I live in Ipswich in Suffolk and there isn't any on this list for this area. The nearest is Bury St Edmunds which is 30miles away. But thanks for the info it maybe of use to others.
  6. I have had a number of cache placements refused of late. When I put one on a bridge for example. I was told that I need permission from the Highways Agency and I have no idea who to contact and despite searching the web I still can't find a contact number. I put one on a telegraph pole and have been told that BT has refused ALL placements on their properties (which is ironic as one of the most popular placements can be found behind telephone junction boxes.) I want to put one near some local council owned garages but was told I needed permission from the council. I tried believe me I tried. The first person I contacted told me to contact someone else and so it went on until I was told to contact the very person that I had contacted in the first place. I was even told at one stage to contact the planning department, for a nano sized container! Some companies such as 'Anglian Water' don't even acknowledge my emails and others promise that they will forward my request to another department and someone will get back to me but they never do. Some were great however, organisations such as the National Trust, RSPB and my local Country Park. So my question is:- Does anyone have a list of people who I could contact or advise me on how to go about it?
  7. I personally don't like cache and dash type caches or ones with tat inside. 1 Difficulty 1 Terrain for example, where's the fun in those? You are just totting up the numbers. No, tax my brain with hints and clues, give me a walk to interesting areas that cannot be appreciated from the roadside. Obscure yes, as long as they make sense once found and grps isn't 20 metres out. I don't go for question mark ones unless I've worked out the answers before leaving home. But it's horses for courses isn't it. Check out the D & T's beforehand, set your handsets to ignore the difficult ones if you just want to grab and bag.
  8. Taken whilst searching around at GC5A8EK http://imgcdn.geocaching.com/cache/log/large/27ed25ab-76d3-4442-a3b0-433d98e42c7d.jpg That's my baby in the background which doesn't go at a snail's pace
  9. What Irks me most is Mystery Caches! I have spent a lot of time researching a suitable area to lay a tricky cache, only to have it rejected later on because its too close to a mystery cache which didn't appear anywhere near my original location on the map.
  10. After you go out and verify that everything is good with your cache, you can log an 'Owner Maintenance' as described by PupPatrol.
  11. Someone has added a maintenance log because they couldn't find it. How do I get rid of this? Because I am trying to add a new hide but it says one of my current caches need maintenance when it doesn't.
  12. Hubby found a trackable and logged it correctly as having been found, before placing into another cache, BUT his battery went flat and couldn't log it out at the time. So he later logged it in the WRONG location. How can he change this as he no longer has the code?
  13. First--Do not post the code in the forums or in your logs. OK that's out of the way. COPY tags do say "Keep me" I think it is a very very bad idea to send out a tag that says "keep me" Is this one of the copy tags that do not have the code imprinted, but it had to be handwritten? All the more likely that O and 0, I and 1, etc could be confused. The copy tag itself did not have a printed code but was handwritten but the glass world globe attached had it etched on the glass. There was only one ambiguous number on it and I tried both versions.
  14. Had tried that too for the 0/O and upper and lower case but still no good
  15. Report them to ebay for selling stolen goods
  16. I'm totally confused as the code is not recognised as being a travel bug, despite everything looking like those described and now have no idea what to do.
  17. What do I do? The numbers and letters are quite clear but the person's name is not.
