  1. I replaced an MIA container while I was at GW7. There were several DNF's for the past few months. There was only 1 spot for a cache to be placed, so I replaced it. I sent the owner an e-mail as to my maint I did, and he/she thanked me profusely... I was sorta leery about replacing it, but in the end, I did the owner a favor..they hadn't been able to get out and about in a while. ALWAYS send an e-mail if you did cache maint on anothers cache. The worst thing that can happen...you get a nasty e-mail, the best thing...you get a heartfelt thanks. I rarely think about replacing a container...but sometimes you just get the "do it, it feels right" thought. Just my 7 cents worth.... ~Jenni
  2. I love my front yard cache! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...b5-bd13c8be1e57 It has resulted in some great conversations! I do live in a great neighborhood, and all the neighbors know about the cache. BBJR introduced no less than 5 (I think 3 neighbors have cached since the placing of this) of them to geocaching! Good luck on whatever you decide!
  3. What is a "ppl"? I think I had a bunch of them as an adolescent, but I eventually grew out of the ppl phase. Or am I missing something? Ok...sorry my inquiry has caused disturbance. PPL obvioulsy does not to apply to forum lurkers. WTF? Go figure that one out! Thread admin, please delete this topic, it has not been taken as I intended it to be.
  4. Then you are not a couch surfer candidate... I opened thread to anyone that maybe has ever participated in couchsurfing, and to share thier experiences. Some ppl are very hospitable and decent ppl, I am just looking for that postitive attitude on this. Maybe someone would consider couch surfing based on this thread.... Couch surfing may not be for everyone... I am exploring my maximum GW8 options here.
  5. Nope. Why? Or more appropriately, why would I? I miss the point, I guess. The point being that I could make friends with fellow geocachers on my way to GW8. I would much rather spend time with geocachers, than the hotel concierge...check out the website and some of the great surfer memories.
  6. Not sure where to post this thread.. Wondering if anyone has ever couch surfed while on a geocaching trip. I am looking into couch surfing next year on my big trip to GW8. (Not that I cannot afford hotels, but thought it might be interesting to surf fellow geocachers couches!) Any comments, feedback from surfers, etc would be appreciated! www.couchsurfing.com
  7. LOL..the final is in Iowa. Unless you plan a road trip, I would suggest you keep trying to solve the puzzle. ( I guarantee the coords I listed are going to get you anywhere, cept fer maybe my yard, buts that another puzzle).
  8. Piece of cake... N41 38.566 W091 01.212 LOL
  9. I was a die hard MAP60Csx user. I decided I needed to go paperless on just 1 unit (instead of the MAP and a palm) so I bought an Oregon 400T... The first trips out with the OR pretty much pissed me off...glad I had the reliable MAP with me..(accuracy, sattelite retrieval, compass, battery, lighting.. issues with the OR) After a few months, with the Garmin firmware updates for the OR (Yes, I do BETA updates) I am having to dust the MAP60Csx off because it is neglected. The OR has come a long ways since it hit the market, and I am a firm believer that this is an excellent unit, and Garmin is making it better everyday Either unit will get you where you want to go, but for the money I suggest the OR.
  10. Yes, an Add Note is the perfect way to state that you went to the cache to grab the TB to move along. Welcome to the game!
  11. GSAK GSAK GSAK.. create a query.. load it to GSAK then do a send to GPS (be sure yu have OR 300/400 as your selected destination GPS) Works perfect fer me
  12. I agree and disagree with pre-publishing FTF's A. if its a tribute cache..then the one being honored should have a heads up and be FTF...however, the honoree should NOT sign the log before the cache is placed. The honoree should get a heads up that it has been submitted fer listing, and go find it first. (kind of a standard in my caching neighborhood.. been there done that.. a few times) B. if it is a regular cache placed by a fellow cacher, not a tribute cache of any kind, then I think there should be no heads up warnings, giving everyone a fair shot at FTF. I actually got a lecture from my mom 2 days ago on a new cache I listed. "You never told me you were placing a new cache" I told her.. "No one got a heads up, it's just another Lincoln Highway cache" (she has yet to find it) So, thats just my opinion... tribute cache okay..just another find cache not okay ~BB
  13. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...p;#entry3032392 Follow the link.. or its in the FAQ's

  15. more kudos to Garmin 60csx... it has rarely failed me
  16. Unless there was something very bad about the place where I DNF'ed, I can't resist going back. I've visited some as many as 4 or 5 times. Most of the time I win in the end. How can you give up on something that is obviously taunting you???? deb3day Just 4 or 5? I have a DNF 14 times on a cache...then it was archived...GRRR
  17. 5 new addicts and 1 on the way! Congrats and welcome!
  18. I try to think like the hider... if the tree is dense, I look on the outer branches. If there are voids in the branches, I like to look for the cache while standing near the trunk looking out. (after searching around the trunk first) Good Luck! I know I always need luck on PTC's!
  19. Ahh..my first geocaching experience was a dud...my mom took me out int the woods with a tom tom and a compass.... "we can find it" were her words. We never did find "it" that day, but the very next day....I was checking out the GC site and found a Podcache...ordered my Garmin the same day..and here I am almost 1000 caches later.. still hooked.
  20. Garmin 60CSx, and E-trex legend CSx as a backup. Thinking about a Oregon 400t one of these days...just for fun.
  21. You are at the grocery store and sign the check "busterbabes" instead of your real name. (its happened more than once)
  22. Can I vote twice? My real age is ummm 30 (again) but I prolly should fess up on the survey (its anonymous) LOL
  23. Numbers are pointless...memories are priceless.. We all cache in our own way... I am pretty proud to say that most of my cache finds ....I can remember something about that cache in particular..be it crappy weather, be it the great view, be it the company, be it the 5 times I was there before I found it... Caching is a sport that you tailor to your lifestyle...your enjoyment...everyone gets something different from it.. Don't let someone elses caching style get to you...we all are here together, for different reasons..ENJOY YOUR caching experiences!!!
