  1. There is a free utility out there called PilotInstall (pinstall.exe) that solved this problem when I was on Vista. I haven't yet tried it on Win7. It is not a new utility - I believe it is dated 2004. It is a one-file utility; just run it, go File | Add ... to add your PDB file to the Pinstall window (or drag-drop it there), then click the Hotsync button on the Palm to transfer. Again, I haven't tested on Win7, and no longer have any Palm devices - but it worked famously on Vista when nothing else would work. Should be easy to find via Google. This link may work. I had no problems on Vista... I think the problem is lack of drivers that will recognize the Palm in Windows 7. I think I'll have to find some way of moving the info via the card. Thanks for the idea.
  2. I thought I read somewhere that the XP mode does not include support for drivers. Anyway I gave up fighting with old hardware, and got an Oregon 300 instead. I really don't have a problem using the SD card, but wondered if the XP mode would restore the hot sync. Just didn't want to spend the money to find out it doesn't work. Hi, I just posted on GSAK about moving to Windows 7 and how I can no longer use Palm desktop to load up Cachemate data. I see here someone mentioning a SD card... Is there some way to transfer cachemate info from GSAK to a Palm Tungsten C using an SD card? Or some other way besides palm desktop?
  3. To quote RadioCad..."I uninstalled it, reinstalled it on the c drive, and magic...it worked perfectly." Thanks much for your help!
  4. I do have it installed on my D drive! Will give that a try!! Thanks much.
  5. Thanks for your suggestion, but there are plenty of hills and mountains here in Seattle area. Still no contour lines...
  6. Thanks for your suggestions... The T and P were both Bold and downloaded file sizes suggest they were incorporated (I broke the US down into 6 regions and Colorado for a total of about 1.3 gb). I'm not using the worldwide base map. If nothing else is suggested, I'll try re-installing and re doing the regions...
  7. Thanks for your response too. I have the topo map active...I can see all the small streets and I've gone down to 100 feet. Did I do something before I exported the region? What/where would I check my settings on the 3d topo software? Thanks again for your help.
  8. Thanks for the quick reply...I toggled and went down the list but there is no Topo Lines on the list. I selected mark all and still no contour/topo lines. My settings are highest detail and I've zoomed in to various levels but still no contour lines...
  9. I have Mapsend Topo 3D version 1.0. that I've loaded US maps on SD cards for my Magellan 500, but I don't see any contour lines on my unit. I can see them on my pc but no on the gps. Is there a setting that disables/enables them? Did I do something to make them not show up? Thanks
  10. If I remember correctly, I think the number the program wants is in the battery compartment of the gps and NOT the serial number on the about screen....
  11. Thanks again for the info...Talk about a situation that begs for a firmware update! Any one have a connection within the Magellan organization?
  12. Hi, When I turn on my explorist 210, the right-hand 1/4 of the screen shows black for a brief moment before the rest of the screen turns black and then continues with the startup sequence. Anyone else having similar startups? I'm asking to see whether I should follow up w/ Magellan. I called once and the person said this was normal. I'd rather take care of this while it's covered under warranty. BTW, it has done this since I first purchased it. Some times the screen goes entirely black and then starts. Othertimes it's the 1/4 then complete screen going black. It has always started up. Thanks for any feedback.
  13. Thanks for the info... Is this limitation true for all explorist models?
  14. I've been playing with my new 210 and am having problems with my hints being chopped off when I transfer my info from either GSAK or Magellan Geocache manager to the 210. What is the maximum length of hints that can be transferred? When I cut and paste from Geocaching.com into either program, the entire (sometimes 5-6 sentences) hint is saved, but when I transfer the data to my 210 I only get 2 lines saved. When I view the hint, there are 2 lines and the rest of the screen is blank (and there is a lot of screen area that is blank). In case it matters... 1- I download the loc files because I'm not a premium member 2- I then cut and paste the hints (and many of them are several sentences long) 3- I then send the info to the geocaching folder Thanks for any and all help with this.
