  1. If you make the traveling cache container small enough to fit in larger cache containers then the "traveling cache" could move from geocache to geocache.
  2. This topic isn't about our current presidency, please bring it back on topic.
  3. My two favorite bomb squad stories... We have actually received a call from a bomb squad in the field with a geocache sitting in front of them. Since there is no way for me to 100% assure them that the container they are staring at is actually a geocache I offered them another solution. They waited patiently while emailed a local cacher, the cacher arrived on the scene in time to verify it was a cache and open the container before it was blown up. The bomb squad was very happy with us, we saved their resources and they got a small lesson in geocaching from a local cacher. My second favorite story was when police officer responded to a call about a suspicious object, then called the local bomb squad. They got there laughed explained to the officer what geocaching was and then opened the container and signed the log book. In both cases the containers were well labeled, so my advice is label your caches!!!
  4. Divine are you lobbying for a forum moderators job? moving thread to the regional forum
  5. The map shows the great participation around the US. A few of the states not holding events have local organizations, it is sad to see that some of the organizations don't value CITO enough to hold an event in their state. My hat is off to the many groups of cachers getting together this weekend and on upcoming weekends holding cleanup events!!! CITO is a great project and it is a very positive light shining on our sport!
  6. Only if you got your wedding photos taken at Argyle lake No, but I did have many taken on the white sand beaches of Atlantic Beach. briansnat, you were invited. Was your invitation lost in the mail?
  7. Hey, can I post here? I got married on LI, that should count for something!
  8. Boys take it to email, the Groundspeak forums is not the place for your scratching and pulling hair.
  9. We add reviewers on an "as needed" basis. In other words show me a need and we will discuss adding reviewers. In most cases Keystone is correct the need is based on number of caches reviewed, and how labor intensive the review process is in that specific region. I have added reviewers for other reasons, but those are each on a case by case basis.
  10. CYBret, I am not sure if I should be reminding you that this is a family friendly forum or if I should be thanking you for a great idea.
  11. there are still places without internet access?? Thanks for getting caught up gpsfun!
  12. Moving to the organized geocaching forum.
  13. Moving to units and software forum.
  14. If a user has the custom waypoint symbols art complete using the geocaching.com cache type icons please send me the files. We will upload them to the goodies page (with credit of course) and allow other users to download and use the symbols.
  15. Thanks mtn-man for picking that one up. We are a few days behind on the reviews in your area, expect to see them caught up in the next day or two. Thanks for the patience.
  16. We have recently been notified of a new geocaching policy in Winnebago County Forest Preserves:
  17. We do provide this service for premium members through the pocket query generator. You may have up to 20 custom queries stored at a time. You can choose 20 locations in addition to your 'home coordinates'. To 'filter out finds' just select 'caches I haven't found'. When ever you want to see the results page select "run pocket queries" from your profile page, then select "preview" and you will see a results page that looks just like the "home coordinates" page.
  18. What do you mean the identification disappeared? Please let me know if I misread your comment, but I believe the information you mention has not disappeared it has only moved. If you scroll to the bottom of the email a user page it lists the username of the person you are emailing and provides a link to their profile page.
  19. Keep in mind that as volunteers we are asked to adhere to the guidelines. According to the guidelines, your cache is too close to an existing cache so we cannot list it as is. The upper level admins might say "Yeah, why not.". I would ask that your message be sent to Hydee. I think your cache might get listed if she reviews it. (hint hint, nudge nudge, no promises, just my personal opinion looking at it) Especially, if you send your request with a box of chocolate.
  20. Jamie, The way you describe the button the usage is acceptable, thank you for checking with us first. If you have any further logo usage questions, feel free to contact Bryan at logo@Groundspeak.com. Have a great time at your CITO event!!!
  21. People contribute to the sport and this site in many different ways. Someone that hides a great cache is as important to this site as someone that buys a t-shirt or a premium membership. The community as a whole supports the site, not just the small percentage who pay for premium membership. Groundspeak has promised since the very beginning the basic game will always be free. That will not change.
  22. We have one person at Groundspeak that is responsible for managing the reviewer team, that is me. I don't have a 'written list' of who does what, it changes too often. Since this thread has started I would have had to go back and edit the list 4 times, and that is just two days worth. What we do have is a private discussion forum that the reviewers post notes saying when they will be away for a few days, if they need a break, when they need help, or any other changes that may take place. The private discussion forum holds the most accurate information. I do not plan to publish a list of reviewer names, it is a respect for their privacy and protection. I realize as a method of communication this may not be ideal but for now cachers that do not know their local reviewer have a few options, they can ask a local cacher or organization for the information. They can contact any of the reviewers they may know they name of or they may contact Groundspeak through the contact@ email address.
  23. A gallery of current images is on the 'ToDo' list. I don't know about the rest of you, but I have a tendency sit and hit refresh just to see what else will pop up.
  24. 2005 CITO event T-shirts are not available yet but we will have one ready soon!
