  1. Here's the best log - so far! http://www.geocaching.com/track/log.aspx?L...3c-bfdfc7647b7a
  2. We had a large TB in the rear window of our caravan as we travelled up and back from Cardiff to Perth for the Scottish Mega Event earlier this month. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4653...mp;id=537697075
  3. I agree about the repetitiveness of articles in walking and cycling magazines. I used to buy them, but now only if there's a really interesting article of relevance to me. A "one off" type UK Geocaching magazine may do well. An example are the ones that lurk in the monthly mags - "How to choose a bicycle" etc. At first glance it's a monthly, but at second glance it's a "one off" and usually costs slightly more than a monthly. A one off UK Geocaching could be published in the early spring of each year and sell over the spring and summer. It would nestle nicely in the "outdoor activities" section of magazine stands. Just a thought. Dave
  4. Has anyone noticed Google street view is now 3D - sadly I don't have any red/green glasses to try it out! Click on the man with the glasses to activate the view. Dave
  5. The BBC's "Digital Planet" programme on World Service has about 10 mins of Geocaching around 13 mins into the programme. The whole programme is about "Geographic web". See:- http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/programm...al_planet.shtml The cache is on the open university campus in Milton Keynes. I can't identify the cache or cacher - maybe you can! The programme will be there for one week starting 27th January 2009 - or download the podcast. Dave
  6. As of 1900 today - it's working again - phew! Dave
  7. Sunday's "Country Focus" programme, 0730, 28th December, on BBC Radio Wales, will be repeating some of last year's highlights. This includes clips from August's half hour programme on Geocaching and some "follow ups". http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/radiowales/site.../20081228.shtml For those not up at 0730 on a Sunday, it will be on the BBC I-player for one week. A happy new year to everyone. Dave and Pat.
  8. Um, this is the original south Wales in the UK - not New South Wales in Australia! This should be in the United Kingdom forum. Dave, from Cardiff.
  9. Today's the last chance to hear this geocaching programme on line - it will be replaced with the next programme at 0800 on Sunday 31st August. It can be heard from via the BBC Wales Country Focus web site. Dave
  10. Those listening to Country Focus on line, may have noticed the start of the programme was missing. This was corrected today and the full programme can now be heard via this link. Don't forget, the geocaching programme will only be available on line until Sunday 31st August - so don't miss your chance to hear it. Sadly, it looks like the first cache they visited - Rainbow Series Yellow has been muggled. However, the Radio Wales keyring TB is travelling well! Dave
  11. The best way to hear this outside Wales is via Sky - more details here. If you miss the programme at 0730 tomorrow, then you can hear it again via here. Dave
  12. Country Focus, Radio Wales, Sunday 24th August, 0730, or hear it on line after transmission for one week via the Country Focus website. The whole 28 minute programme shows geocaching in a very positive light. Well done to those who took part. Dave.
  13. An excellent idea - count us in. Dave and Pat.
  14. These .... Baaaaaaaa! Quaaaack! I think you find the sheep photo was taken in Bideford, Devon - not Wales. Dave
  15. STOP PRESS................. Here we go! BBC Radio Wales, Country Focus, Sunday 24th August at 0730 a whole 28 minute radio programme about Geocaching. For seven days after the above date, you will be hear the programme here........ The programme is set in Aberystwyth. The presenter, Melanie Doel, is shown how to find two caches by local cachers.
  16. There's a little more information here:- http://www.grough.co.uk/content/view/1009/2/ Dave
  17. Well done on getting Geocaching mentioned on Radio 2. I work for BBC Wales in Cardiff (but not directly on the programme side). I mentioned Geocaching to a news editor earlier this year. He commissioned the “Country Focus” producer to make half hour programme on geocaching for Radio Wales. Geocaching will be the sole topic of the half hour long Radio Wales Country Focus programme. http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/radiowales/sites/countryfocus/ The programme was recorded last week in Aberystwyth and they have created their own caching ID “Country Focus” http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=7f...a5-3ee8b880f2db. By checking the programme’s first two cache finds, you can see some of what went on. They also set up a Radio Wales TB and it’s currently in GC10DXW. The programme is likely to be aired this August and shows Geocaching in a positive light. It will be available on the BBC Radio Player after transmission. I will post a link here when the time comes. Dave
  18. It looks as if it's a "false positive" virus....... See:- http://www.dynamoo.com/blog/2007/12/jssnza...-in-etrust.html Fingers crossed. Dave
  19. I could do this, but the amount of paper is building up - and I can't access paper kept at home when I am staying away from home. Dave
  20. Many thanks to everyone for taking time to reply to me. I will go for GSAK and make the time to learn its features over the winter. Once again, thanks your help and advice. Dave
  21. TotemLake, Thanks for the reply. I have GSAK, but can't get to grips with it. I don't find it very intuitive to use. I am sure these 3rd party data managers are very good, but they seem to need a lot of time investment in order to us successfully. My idea is just to have a simple text box that only the “logged on” person can see on the Geocaching site. I guess my next question is to ask if software such as GSAK really worth the time investment for the extra features it gives? While I can use spreadsheets and similar programs on a PC, I am no database expert. Dave
  22. I would like to propose a new feature for cache listing pages. Would it be possible to have a “private note” area available on cache pages? I would use this area to record notes for puzzle clues, or any information I wish to keep specifically about that cache, but not want others to see. I currently keep such notes on an Excel spreadsheet, but it would be nicer to have them attached to the specific cache. What do others think? Compared with the work to improve the maps recently, I would think this would be a simple feature to add. Yours Dave
  23. My E-Trex Vista did exactly the same in Italy. It was very hot (32C) and I had sun protection on my arms and hands. I was sweaty from climbing and I'm sure the sun protection disolved my Vista's glue. Taking the advice above, I will have a go a fixing it. Thanks for the advice. Dave
