1900+ miles and more hours than a sane body should spend in a car in 3 days...I finally made it!!!

Not there yet, but will be in a couple of weeks. Phoenix area- prob NW- I liked Surprise.

From a native Tennesseean: I have worked in Knoxville, Nashville, Chattanooga, and Memphis. Memphis gives me the creeps. The people I worked with were great, but that's a place where I'm content to stay on I-40 and keep on driving. Couldn't give you lots of specifics, just a gut feeling. I've lived in CA also- Monterey area. Huge difference between there and Tn. Would recommend, before you make a permanent move, that he try to just get a temporary transfer. Nothing like relocating and wishing you hadn't.

I am also a newbie. But I have not bought a GPS unit yet. I look for caches in my area, using the names of the caches, hints, and google earth map (though it doesn't get very detailed because of where I live) to pick my targets. A co-worker introduced me to geocaching, and I wanted to make sure it was for me. OK, so I'm hooked now. But I've been checking out the forums for info on the units. And still caching...

Which method did you use? Just curious.. I got a google earth hybrid for a place near me, dragged it across the world, and then entered country and city. Maybe it wasn't the shortest distance between two points, but it got me there! For someone whose computer skills function on survival mode only, I'm just happy to get there. I'll try some of the other suggestions, too.

Is there a way to get more specific on overseas caches than just the country? I am looking for one in a specific town in Germany. When I type in "Germany", it shows the whole country's worth. When I type in the zip, it shows a Montana town. What can I do?
