  1. your new caches look great jomarac. im looking forward to trying them!
  2. there is an article in this week's Time magazine about geocaching..check the Apr. 28 issue!
  3. RE: the first post Im in the same situation as you. The only program i found that does what you want is VITO Navigator. www.vito-tech.com i contacted the developer about a certain bug that was critical to geocaching, he has since fixed it in v2.25 Other programs exist that need raster/vector maps (like OziExplorer), however they are more expensive and more cumbersome.
  4. quote:Originally posted by Volwrath:I know this isnt the reply that you are looking for but I was in your shoes and almost pulled the trigger on a holux cf card, but at the last minute I started worrying about damaging my ppc as well as my battery life... So I bought an eTrex Legend and couldnt be happier. one of these days I plan to hook it up to my Axim serially, but Im in no big hurry, because it rocks on its own. Actually my main use for GPS is car navigation, with geocaching on the side. That in mind, it wasnt very practical to purchase a standalone GPSr, devise a solution to mount and power BOTH devices simultaneously, and cobble some type of serial cable connection between the two. I really wanted to get the geko201 though, but it just wasnt practical.
  5. ive found the software i was looking for, its VITO navigator. Unfortunately its not free ($16). Is there any software similar to VITO that is free?
  6. quote:Originally posted by Renegade Knight:So you got a GPS for your PDA and it doesn't even come with it's own software with an arrow pointer? Take it back! Nope it doesnt. I bought the Holux GM-270 CF GPS, which is supposedly one of the better ones. I just checked the CD again, it only comes with a "GPS viewer" app that lets you open the GPS and see which sattelites are being tracked. No way to input coordinates, and no big arrow pointing to the cache. Do other PPC GPSr's come bundled with the software im looking for? Would it be possible to distribute the software? Thanks again, and thats an interesting "PPC", Aristocracker.
  7. I just got a CF GPSr for my PocketPC and i want to start geocaching. However i dont know what software to use to guide me to the cache. Im looking for simple software, the ones with topo maps are probably over the top, i simply want a big arrow pointing to my destination (along with various useful info like ETA, speed, altitude, distance, etc). It seems VITO navigator is what im looking for, but its not free. Is VITO the only software that does what i want? Thanks for your help BTW, I tried to use GPXview (dont know if this is what im looking for). Since it only reads .GPX files i had to convert geocaching.com's .LOC files (using both GPSbabel and EasyGPS). However GPXview wont open the converted file, its just a perpetual hour glass.
