  1. I know--you hit it with your stamp (which, by the way, is pretty cool) I don't plan on signing logs anymore myself.Muwahaha. Got the stamp waiting at home.
  2. Some small predatory birds (shrikes) store their prey (often some smaller birds) for later eating by sticking them on plant spines. It's probably what happened to the bird you saw. Good trick to stop other larger predators from stealing the prey... they don't want to stick their nose in the spines. I'm not aware of "shrikes". In AZ we have some falcon/hawk birds and owls in this area. You suggesting that a bigger bird put the little bird there to save for later? It's hard to believe considering the bird's wings were completely spread just as if it were flying right in to the bush. I need to back and grab a pic of it. OK I want to see this. I'll post a picture tonight. Huh...looks like it landed a little shy of the target.
  3. but let's face it. many of us are here for entertainment. it's best not to take most of this too seriously. Basically. It's geocaching...not a town meeting. What's there to be serious about in here?Until the thread turns to container selection.
  4. I've got a return trip coming up.Will have my GPS with me this time. Unfortunately it will probably be Lufthansa(Only cause they're on the doesn't approve list, and actually they are an excellent airline.Used them from Kuwait City,Kuwait to Chicago and from Charlotte to Doha,Qatar. No problems, good service),but I'll try anyways. What's worst they do?Say no?
  5. Ditto. Double Ditto. Triple Ditto. When I first read that post, I found the statement that you judge how "smart he/she" is by the number of Puzzle caches they have completed to be very offensive. Now that others have responded, I also feel compelled to respond. I am one of those people who has a hard time figuring out puzzle caches, especially those created by the excellent puzzle cachers in this area. However, that does not mean I am not smart, and it does not mean I limit myself to parking lot micros. Everyone has different talents. If someone is musically-inclined and can compose music, but another person cannot, would you say the second person isn't "smart?" If someone is artistic and can draw, or sculpt, or paint, but another person cannot, would you say the second person isn't "smart?' Sheeesh! I love puzzle caches...but how am I going to do any caching when I've found the four caches on my FOB? Everyone go find a cache for me today.I wish I could.
  6. If someone made a good point on an issue they could change my position on an issue. Otherwise it's all good entertainment either way.

  8. He/She has only been a member for four days bud. Also,I think that it stemmed from this post- You have spurred my brain. I will change this about our great and wonderful hobby. They will not ruin it!
  9. I like to carry my Ruger single six. It's a single action revolver with a .22mag cylinder and a .22LR cylinder.I carry that in a leather belt holster I got off a sale rack.Good for small gamin'.Also, sometimes I like my Sig 229 in .40S&W,but I don't have a holster for it yet. If I'm in the woods/on the trail,I see no need to be concealed.Hell,on normal woods jaunts I take my open sighted Marlin 39A lever gun,or my Marlin model 60 semi-auto.I LOVE .22's.A walk/hike/jaunt in the woods for me is incomplete without one.
  10. Been hearin' alot about those chairs...might have to look into one at some point.
  11. Hmmm,it MAY end up in the sock thread...maybe. Large rash of angst and whatnot lately in here.I blame summer solstice.
  12. I managed to score one of these after making a soldier a tomahawk here in Iraq.I freakin' LOVE it.It stays scary sharp for a long time, and it has a nice wide portion on the backside of the front part of the blade that makes whittlin' easier. I too have a K-Bar from my Marine days(I think it's an un-written law that Marines must own at least one ).I like it,but really never carry it.For hunting/skinning chores I love my little handy Puma fixed blade.I don't remember the model, but it has about a five-6 inch blade.Handy from Squirrels to Moose(We'll see once I get the tag ).I want to experiment with taking a small tomahawk with me for cutting purposes as well.Having an axe/hatchet nearby is handy for field dressing deer, clearing shooting lanes, etc.I've also been carrying around a leatherman micro.I like it because now I always have a pair scisscors handy, and it has tweezers.I tend to get alot of wood and metal splinters. It's hard for me to carry around a belt knife because I always wear suspenders.
  13. I'll say prevent it from happening.I've a pair Rocky gore tex socks.Excellent item.I don't use them all the time because I usually have waterproof boots on but they do work and good.
  14. I just checked those out TL.Real purdy place.
  15. I don't particularly care about my post count.I see a post to reply to,or a little funnin' around to make, and I do it.I'm not thinking about the quickest way to 10,000. Post count is right up there with find count. It's a number. To me anyways. I must say thought that the ol' GS forum has been a great learning experience, and passed the time quite nicely.
  16. I stand corrected.THAT is the best one!!! And I only got to page 2!!!
  17. I read that 'A walk in the woods' book.It was great until he compared NH to VT. I don't know what VT HE was in.
  18. I see gaiters as being useful for when I'm still hunting in boot top to mid calf deep snow.I've been wanting to get a pair,as it's always an unwelcome surprise to get snow in the tops of your boots, and keeps the frozen water from melted snow off my wool trousers.I like the ones Michelle posted a link to.
  19. I must say, first time I saw your avatar, I thought Sock Puppet! not Dinosaur! Just sayin'...
  20. Your wish is MM's command. The best part was he locked it whilst I was typing the other post. A new classic-Jeremy confrims the sock puppet account, then everyone gets into Cheech ang Chong movies!
  21. Hmmm, had a slight problem for some reason and couldn't get back on the forum.Anyways,I'm posting this thread, and when it's resulting thread gets locked it'll be posted here as well. Keep those sock threads posted here! This is great stuff!
  22. That would be ringbone...sbell knows where that one's at. And that was actually the thread that started this one after I read that..
