  1. Hi, I would recommend you go with the Cachemate Jr. It's specifically designed to be kid friendly and is cheap enough. Also, if you look up mystery caches they can be great for additional opportunities for learning without knowing your learning!! (wink wink) Good Luck
  2. don't worry too much what that last poster said. The etrex H is a fine unit for geocaching. I have found several hundred with mine. The serial port cord you speak of goes about 12 bucks on ebay. You'll need to use a plugin program(free download from garmin) or there is a program I use called Easygps that I can download multiple caches at a time with. The etrex H is a simple unit with few features but very adequate. And the H stands for high sensitivity, which is huge. Look up a serial port cord download some caches take a few notes and hit the trail. If you have any questions drop me an e-mail.. pete
  3. pswith5 checking in. Cottage Grove!
  4. False, but have many bumps and bruises! Hello, to cachensfun. Nice meeting you when selling gps. The next cacher is going to MOGA
  5. It is refreshing to see several offers for this cacher serving his/her country. Hopefully if he/she acquires more than one unit they can bring a muggle into the fold!! Kepp on cachin in the FREE world!! Thanks for serving for FREEDOM!
  6. that looks like the connection for my rino! interesting because the h series unit I have has like a 4 pin connection.? the picture you show seems to be available on ebay for 9.99 with free shipping. check it out
  7. my advice... keep it simple. Grab a pen and paper or maybe a pda for your notes and go with the 12 channel h series etrex. cheap but the H stands for High sensitivity. There are expandable color gps's out there but the high sensitivity is the key!!

There are also a few virtual caches in the bwcaw! i haven't searched them out yet but I am sure they are still there.I also am aware of a few spots that would be interesting. Scenic spots, waterfalls and of course one of the great uses for gps...hot fishing spots. Sory to say I do not yet have co-ords for these yet .
