  1. Ok I see how that's done. 2 people find the cache and 4 log it. Interesting. Where I come from, we don't have power trails that are that easy. In that video they didn't look for long to find the cache. In Ontario, Canada, finding 150 in a 24 hour period on a power trail is a lot! There is a power road near where I live that has around 1100 caches on it, but they are well done caches. One was a bison tube in a plastic snake near a fence post. Then the next was a chirp enabled redirect. and so on. Still, 43000 sounds like a lot for someone who only caches on weekend. There aren't unlimited power trails. Anyways, I'll go now.
  2. I've recently run into logs from this BobCam. I'm not too sure about him. Some say he only caches on the weekends? I've looked at his stats and it says he found something like 712 caches in one day! That's a caches every 2 minutes! So in 2 minutes he has to bike/walk/fly 0.1 miles, stop, find a cache, open it, signed it, close it, and get back onto his mode of transportation. And do this all day long without stopping! And that's if they're all 1/1's! He has over 500 cache find that are >=4 terrain and more than 350 finds that are >= 4 difficulty. How does he do this?? If it's all true, maybe he should teach a geocache excercise class! I'm totally in!!

    Deer Bait Cache

Hi all, I was going to do my 999th find at GC1X7FQ "Mining Some Cold Hard Cache Too" and my 1000th at GC2B4 "Deer Bait" in Ontario sometime this week. I was wondering if anyone would like to join me? I hear it's recommended to do the "Mining Some Cold Hard Cache Too" one with someone else in case something happens. Anyone interested? Denis.
  6. Hi all, I'd be interested in going too if it's not to late to sign up. Sounds like an interesting cache! Denis.
  7. Cool thanks. Anyone know how big the topo canada maps are? About the same size?
  8. Hi, I just bought an Oregon 400t with the us topo maps on it. If I buy the topo canada cd, can I replace the us topo maps on the oregon? Is it that easy or are the maps not replacable? Denis.
  9. Hey, how do I find out how many people became member in a certain year? I thought I saw that somewhere before, but I can't find it anymore. I wanted to use it for a puzzle cache. It'd be nice to know by months too. Brain21
  10. Hi, I found out that when doing projections, it's good to know if the projection is using true north or magnetic north, or something like that. It makes a big difference. What I'm wondering is if it makes a difference when entering a GPS coordinate and going to that point. Will I end up at different points if I enter the same coordinate in both options (magnetic, true)? Brain21
  11. I found this place. I think it's in Waterloo, close to Guelph. I saw on there somewhere that you can go pick it up at their house/business. They have TB's and coins. http://www.littlegeoshop.com/geocachingstore.html
  12. Im mainly looking for a hat, some stickers for my car, and that kind of stuff
  13. Hi, does anyone know of any geocaching stores in Indianapolis? I'm looking for real stores and not the online kind. I'll be visiting there for a while. Brain21
  14. The geocaching site does support direct downloading to Garmin GPSr's but not Magellan. You have to go through the geocaching manager that's provided with the Magellan or use "GSAK" like "2happy2gether" says. Brain21.
  15. Wan2look: What was wrong with it? I've been using it for about a month now and it seems ok. I've been able to use the software for geocaching. It makes things easy. The file structure isn't that complex. Its just several folders. [after reading your other posts] I think you have to download a pocket query to your computer first and then use the software to download the caches into your magellan. I did this for an event a couple weeks ago and it worked.
  16. Hi, I picked this up because of its price. Its my first handheld one. I have a car one which I use for geocaching. So far, the magellan is not doing so good. but my question is on battery life. I didn't get a lithium-ion with my unit and have to send away for it, so I've been using the 3-AAA's. For some reason, with the backlight off all the time, I can only get it last less than one day. and its not even on all the time. I've run it for 5 seperate days since I got it (on and off throughout the day) and have gone through 3 sets of batteries. Has anyone else seen this with theirs? The lithium-ion batteries listed above seem to be 760mah to 1100mah, how long do they last?? The one that Magellan offers is 1300mah. Do these GPS's usually need new batteries after 5-6 hours? Brain21
  17. Is there anyone going to the Spring Fling Event this weekend and who is from Waterloo who wants to split gas?? I was thinking about going at the last minute, but its a bit far. Brain21
  18. Hi, I've had this unit for about 3 months now and found 29 caches. Its pretty nice. I've hacked it so that I can use WinCE. I use MobiPocket to view those .prc files that you get when downloading the .gpx from geocaching.com. So now I can view all the text for each cache I've done a pocket query on. Really great for paperless caching! Has anyone found a way to change the coordinate system on it? Recently I needed to change to NAV 27 Canada for an event, but couldn't find it on this GPS. So I had to meet up with other cachers that had garmins so they could translate it to what the c310 uses. My coords took me about 20m south of the real cache location.
  19. Hi, I'd like to join you people for that event. I'll make sure I can get it off. I know Whiby and Oshawa pretty well (having grown up there), so this should be interesting. I'll have to stop caching there for now. What happens if we plan on caching a cache that one of us has already done?
  20. Hi, I'd like to attend. What kind of even is this? When is the next 24hour event? I'm new to all this geocaching stuff. I usually cache alone, which isn't too fun. I'd like to try it in a group. Is there a web site for these events? Thanks, Brain21
  21. Hi, I'm new to this and found out about power caching. Where would I go to find other cachers in my area to do these with? I'm in Waterloo Ontario Canada. I've been to the Ontario cachers web site, but could not find local groups. Do these exist? Where can I go? Brain21
