  1. Not silly....just seems like the proper thing to do! If I came over to your house, I'd ask YOU if you minded if I smoked (not that I smoke, just an example here), not your guests!! A mistake, what's done is done. Don't worry about the name Mrbeach, as you can see, we tend to shorten them when typing posts (not to be rude, just to simplify), you can always use RR for my name if you'd rather... Now....you say you'd like to become a member of the community....let's see what can be done here... Here's a thought (and don't take this as being rude or a slight to you), read the forums, participate in the forums and become a member of the forums! There are tons of cointests (the free type) going almost all the time (and many more will likely come around Christmas time...if TPTB still allow them), most simply require a response or a guess or a picture...the winner usually being the smart one or the lucky one! Jump in on those, throw out the guesses and respond to the other threads where you have a comment!! people will soon get to know who you are through that! Read the Secreat Santa mission and the Thanksgiving mission threads. THOSE threads will really give you a feel of what this community is all about! Read how much fun everyone is having trying to give the perfect gift to another on the forums, the excitedness of getting their package and the joy of listing the gifts...what amazing stories!! Read the CreepyCrawlyCacher thread, the Geopumpkin, the Fairy, Mickey Diver etc...those are some true testimonies of what this family is all about! Not meaning to leave any of you MYSTERY coiners out...we love each and every one of you (and that's from the heart)! In short...PARTICIPATE...you'll be more than a welcome member in no time! Oh...and WELCOME to the forums!!! I now have your addy, a coin will be on it's way shortly!! You have a good spirit. Thank you.
  2. O.K. so that is it. At last count we have 9 participants, so we will draw a winner out of the 9, this will not effect anything origanly promised because of RR's offer, except that 1 of you will get all the coins as well as the one you submitted! Good resolution RR. So the contest is now closed to new entries, and we will wait for the DONATED, coins to come in. I have recived 1 of the 9 so far, I will keep you posted dailey. -mrbeachroach.
  3. I don't think it was taken wrongly, don't sweat it.
  4. Rockin Roddy, to my mistake I keep calling you Rocky. Sorry. Correction.
  5. "Whats amazing to me, is that everyone thinks that someone who has never posted in the geocoin forum, should of know that if he had a question about geocoins, that he should of asked groudspeak, not all 750 people who regularly post, and more than likely new the answer to my question. Dosent that sould a little silly?" "Despite the Debate, again thank you Rocky, Mods, and Community. My feelings are not hurt. Some of the best marriages, buisnesses, and friendships start off rockey, and have all seen bad times in the begining. In time, my personality, and addition to the geocaching community: im sure will be like a fine wine, and only be better, and add to all the wonderfull flavors of this life in maturity and time." -Mrbeachroach
  6. I can only hope that Groundspeak can find other pressing issues that would distract them from putting guidelines and restrictions on how some chooses to freely giveaway a geocoin. Why must there be guidelines that would distract from the generosity of this community? How is there harm in guessing a persons birthday, or being a random post number?? What is this world coming to when you must ask for permission to give away a coin? Damenace, as long as the earth remains, there will be someting for us all to worry about. I would not sweat it=beachroach.
  7. O.K, after looking into all things considered, I can come to the agreement that anytime you have to put something in, for a wager, that it would, or could or is belived to be gambling. By definition in any dictonary this is true. 2ndly, again. Seems like the debate could of been resolved by people responding that "dont think you can do that" or that wont work. So as I said before, if cointest are going to have guidelines than this is coming down the pike sooner or later. This contest will esentually answer my original question of "Will this actually work". Kinda ironic. 3. Thank you moderators. For being fair and unbiast. 4. I will take everyone up on Rocky Roads offer if it makes us all happy. 5. Hopefully to all of us that are a little wound tight now for my crazy contest, we as players, moderators, and Groundspeak, will come to the conclusion that if there are guidlines for cointest, that THIS kind is clearly alowed, or clearly not, as a sole result, meaning I will not Poop on your past and future cointest!!!!!! 6. My appolagies to anyone who is loosing thire mind. 7. If I have lost any friends over this that I have not yet had, then please throgh a dog a bone, and befriend the underdog newbie here, I could use some friends!!! Lastly, We have 9 people so far. If 1 more would like to participate than we have the room. As long as they keep up thiere end and I can collect all the coins in 1 place. If the last is not found by Wendsday PM 10-00, then we will keep the 9 people who are in and draw out of that. Lets get these coins in this week and get this over with so we can get on with whatever lives we had before this started!!!!!! LOL. Have a great day, and thanks community, respectfully' Mrbeachroach.
  8. Respectfully, thank you for your imput. Now let me clear the are on 2 things. #1 This thread started as a newbie post question, on would this actually work, and evolved into the cointest that it actually is. I figured the best way for me to find out the guidlines was to ask a question and thats what I did If this is against the guidlines then I will gladly stop the cointest, and I respect your nuetrall by default postiton. Thank you. Now with that aside. 2ndly, this is NOT gambling. Let me clear all of the air on this!!! Let me explain. The rules of geocaching whether writen or not, are that if you are caching then you must leave someting in order to take something. How many times do you take swag from your home that you do not want and leave it in the cache WITHOUT taking anything in return? How many times do you bring the Mcdonalds toy and take the book or the 2 dollar bill? Most would precive that you gambled for a better prize. The item you take would be of more value then what you left, would it not? Then why did you take it? This is no different. Let us say that it is equall to a ftf prize. 9 coins deffenatly worth more than 1. If the ftf prize is a $20 bill, and you brought a Mcdonalds toy to trade that was a pretty good swap. Again, this is no different. The same way you must bring something to leave, whether you want to call it a cache, or toy, or swag, or "ANTE", the bottom line is that outside the geocaching community most anything we are swaping or trading or WINNING, is not worth anything to a non geocacher. Makes since? So concluding, if we must bring swag in order to play geocaching, then sending swag, in order to get more swag by geocoin contest is no different then the very rules that defined this game. Respectfully thank you Groudspeak, Geocaching.com and our Moderator. Until instructed differently, we will continue to do what this website designed us to do, and that is to build a family and promote geocaching. Game on. -mrbeachroach If I go to trade for something in a cache, there isn't any gamble to it at all, I pick what I want and leave what I want...AND, everyone else gets something if THEY want! Your "cointest" is a bit different and definitely gambling. You are asking the community to give you a coin to run a game in which they MIGHT win 9 coins (hence the gambling post). I agree, this forum IS one big happy family (boy have I been shown that lately), coming in and doing giveaways and such, setting up coin swaps like the SS missions and such are GREAT ways to get to know everyone in the community without asking for something in return! As was pointed out, we all do COINTESTS, those are great! I truly hope that this doesn't make GS re-evaluate our fun giveaways, if those stopped because of this, you might not be making as many friends as you'd hoped. If every newb decides to do this type of dealings, I'm not doubting things would change around here darned fast. PLEASE don't ruin a good thing! I'm in no way trying to rain on your parade, but lets not confuse a cointest with this as a cointest is done freely and lovingly to GIVE. I'm not sure how this thread started as a newb question since the OP asks everyone to send a coin to participate, you keep one and the winner gets the rest. They are essentially paying you to compete for a prize. And how is this promoting geocaching? Again, good luck, I hope this doesn't force change! #1 the way this started out is {geocoin contest idea} not cointest!!!! This was a question, asking will this work. The responce was that many people wanted to praticipate, thus forcing the contest forward. #2 If this changes anthing at all, it will only make the guidelines clear that THIS kind of contest, or cointest as you would call it is not, permited. So if this forces definition of what a cointest is and what those peramiters are you should thank me. As I stated before, if anyone of Groundspeak does not want this to continue it will be taken away and will not happen again. I want the same thing you ALL do. That is to have fun and be a part of the community. I should not be looked down apon for asking a question, thats answers force the game into full play. Either way my feelings are not hurt. As this is just an Idea, not a personal hit tward me. Thanks for the imput. -mrbeachroach.
  9. Now that I got that out, after a count we need 2 more. I will leave this open until Wendsday at 8pm. If we do not have our 10 by then, we will continue with the 8 we do have. After all coins have been send in I will take pictures of them and post them for all to see. Im working on doing a live drawing via yahoo messenger or youtube, depening of what will work best so everyone sees that is was keept random. -mrbeachroach.

  11. Go to hell for making up your own version of the commandments? Nah... Jesus boiled them down to two:Love the Lord with all your heart, mind and soul. Love your neighbor as yourself. Don't think you can go to hell for doing something Jesus did. Just curious, what are your commandments? Maybe we could mint a coin. Jesus' version on one side, Snoogans' on the other? Click the link in the post. They're not mine. The 3 Commandments Revision is George Carlin's. That Jesus Dude's version is pretty cool by me too though. You'll notice a similarity in Carlin's versoin, except I'm pretty sure Jesus didn't swear as much. Snoogan you are cool I like you man!!!

Don't think you can go to hell for doing something Jesus did. Just curious, what are your commandments? Maybe we could mint a coin. Jesus' version on one side, Snoogans' on the other? Man, thats good. Jesus had a way of boiling it down so we wouldnt mess it up. I like snoogan though, for some magnetic strange reason. The opposition keeps hanging around these forums for to long, they must have a deeper desire to know more? Leaving me to my conclusion, if for no other reason than to challenge our thinking and keep us sharp, to continue to evlove us into what we desire most, leave what defines you best, and if you continue to doubt what you really belive, to the point that someone elses swag bothers you then mabey they are on to something life changing and we should listen to that inner voice.
  13. Amen! Most of the swag I have found hasn't been worth leaving, much less trading for. Thus, I end up TNLN a good bit of the time. I certainly would not object to seeing something of spiritual value when I open a cache, instead of the "Burgermeister action figure" so common. I myself was leaving some rolled up trash bags for CITO minded cachers to take or use there until I ran out. Time to reload, I guess. Those letters are the best reading available [iMHO]. I Also Agree.
  14. Good point!!! Mabey tell em, that most geocachers cache in and Trash out!!!
  15. Thanks Briansnat! I am very excited about this new passion. I only want to trade stuff that I would like to find. T I agree, onr of my constant goals is to raise the geocaching swag standard. This cannot be taught be another set of rules, only by example. I always try to give what im not ready to let go off.
  16. No, Im not slezzy like that, but thanks for asking. This thread started as a neby question and evolved into the game kinda exciting. I think we only need 1 more person after you I will do some figuring after work today round 6pm. When this all goes well, I already have a great Idea for December also. more to come need 1 more person.
  17. I have serious doubt that even the person(s) who leave the stuff are quite sure either. I view it as a harmless robotic action..........and ignore it. And because I ignore it, no, I haven't noticed a change one way or the other. What are the intentions of anyone who trades anything at a geocache? You leave something of value, by your definition, in the hope that someone else may also see it to be valuable enough to trade for. You take something because it interests you, and you leave something in the cache that is of equal or better value. Why would religious items, or the people who trade them, be any different? It really ought not be hard to understand. After 3000 caches I've seen and traded for enough compasses, keychains, beanie babies and glowsticks that I simply don't need anymore. My "collected swag" fills several shopping bags. What I don't have a lot of are crosses, religious medals, religious books and religious jewelry for my daughter. So I would trade for those. If I ever developed a signature item other than hamsters, I'd likely try to incorporate my faith into that item. I've had a geocoin design in mind for quite some time now, and this thread has got me thinking about moving that concept along. Wow, I didnt expect this thread to take off as good as it did, but im glad!!! Now for my personal take. I would never give a track to anyone even if I was witnessing to them, because they lost thiere flavor a long time ago. Kinda like door to door salesmen and soon to follow telemarketers. But keeping God in Caches for me is cool. Its just what you said. Something of Value for someone else. We hike miles through nature to find little piecies of swag and get excited about it. To me after spending that much time with our Creator, in his elemant, finding a book, or cd, or whatever, that could connect me to him is just icing on the cake. Im not talking about tracks though. Thanks for all the great reviews!!! -mrbeachroach
  18. No Harm, No Foul. I just want to keep these forums interesting. Anyone can participate. Geocaching is a community. Welcome to this faucet of it!! With you in that leaves 4 more spots. we are at 60%.
  19. Actually, that would only be 1%. But since you have 3 now and I'm about to join in, that'll be 2% I cant do percentages, or somtimes spell, but im a good and honest moderator!! Thanks for the correction. I got an email from someone else and you will make 5!!! Half way there!!
  20. OOPS, Maybe the wrong forum If so, sorry. One and the same. Trackables. Thanks
  21. We have 3 people in now only 7 to go!!! Think of your geocoins as money. If they are just sitting there in a savings account they are not doing anything. If you invest them into the market there is a chance to multiply and work for you. So send in the coin that is not working for you. 7 Spots to go. We are at 30% Thanks and Be Blessed. -Beachroach
  22. Because Iv only been here a couple of weeks, I have no Idea what a "Deafhunt" is. Im assuming that it probably is not a good thing? Nevertheless, whatever it is I probably am not. The Contest is simple. Send in the coin you dont want. We draw 1 name out of the entrys and he wins all the coins but his own. Thats all. No more No Less. But please What or who is Deafhunt?
  23. Well we are running at 2% so far 200 people have read this post and 2 have responded, not bad for the first day. Don't be shy lets have some fun with this we only need 8 more people before we will draw a winner!! After the antes are here and in we I will post the pics of the entrys before the drawing. Thanks!!! And Much Luck to Ya!!
  24. Please do not enter in your contest. Only string is to give me a soldiers name. Agreed. It will be an honor to carry this coin. Thank you.
