    Where am I?

Cool, missed this... I will have to search through some pics and get one to post. Or just take one today someplace...
  2. Yep drove past the spot on Saturday that reminded me of it too. Had a good giggle thinking how obvious the location is so wrong... but what do the rest of the world know. One of the biggest landmarks in south africa too.... What first did Mandy Ramsden achieve?
  3. Was it not in the movie Zulu as a Luitenant Bromhead or Bromfield or something. Read up on it not too long ago... think it was to do with a question asked a few weeks ago...

    The Sandpit

Great stuff, looking forward to it. Better get my big tent out and check that it is all still OK. Been years since I used it....

Well done to Team iPajero on your 5500 at my home base. Pity I was not home at the time but was good to see you that mnorning at one of my other caches and then again in Estcourt 2 days later. So glad I could be at hand to retrieve a difficult one for you. Hope that you both have a good trip back down to the EC and hopefully get plenty of caches along the way.
  7. They are all in the first edition of Trivial Pursuit.....
  8. I have a cache in amongst an obvious pile of boulders... :-) Retief Klip
  9. Correct Vryburgers. Dorethea van der Merwe (or Kraft as she was known at the time of her crime) was the first woman hanged in the Union of South Africa. She died for her part in the murder of Louis Tumpowski, which had taken place at her farm in the Transvaal in 1918.
  10. Er yes, I think Cincol is swaying in the right direction...
  11. Thanks, remember the fact that her sister also won, was a little vague on the hippo attack. Doretha Kraft was famous for a South African first, what was it?

Congrats to Oom Louwtjie en Vroutjie on the 500 finds. Also to Techno Nut on reaching the ton... Wish I could have joined you guys for it...
  13. There was no provision made for a R500 note... If one is made the R10 note needs to be dropped... In keeping with the big 5

Would like to see how quick you can clear out Bloemfontein in South Africa...
  15. Yap? Where the heck is Yap? A guess would be the largest ratio of women to men in the world per square er Island size... although this would seem a little unlikely to be the right answer... mmm How about the largest population of dogs?
  16. I generally look at the rating of been on a effort required base... plus the danger comes into play... not only from the falling to your death from a 100m cliff, but also regarding the elements, ie weather changes, altitude, etc. I gave my cache in the Drakensberg a 5 star rating because it is not for the unprepared hiker. Though no serious climbing has to be done, nothing more than a rock scramble, there is always the element of weather, if you find yourself signing a log book at just under 3000m and a thick cloud suddenly rolls in and you cannot see 2 meters ahead of you... it becomes very apparent that unless you know your bearings... Life is but a few steps away from certain death. Too many people do not realise how sudden and how dangerous the weather can be in these places.. So not just a matter of falling off high places but also the need for a good awareness of what situations can prevail... And when you factor a long hike into this... 12 mearly a walk in the park for some, for others it can take a loooooong time. So then what may be worthy of a 4.5 to you , can mean a 6 to others and 3 to me... Difficult to say... Stick with as high a rating as you feel, but be prepared to maybe acompany those that feel that it can be too much... Also with it been on an event you can also judge by people's reactions as to how to rate it in future... I am just so bummed that it is way too far for me to go as I would love to do some caches in that area... Have fun.

Well done to Damhuisclan on the 1000, it has finally come. now to the next 1000, it is easier now... To iPajero, well done and congrats on the 1000 in 20 days and the 5000 I was glad to share the day with you on this huge milestone.
  18. I have 4 FTF's to log from ages ago... But i log in sequence and I have other issues that have been far more important than logging a find... Never mind a FTF. And i still have about 400 logs to go before i log that FTF... at this rate I think that least one of them caches will be archived by the time I log my FTF.... So what does one do... well even a few days later I was not seeing logs... So I just posted a note... two of them caches were only logged second to find days later... seemed nobody was out to chase the FTF's on them... and that in JHB... The fact remains, I got the FTF, and it will be in my log as such, My note states i have found it too, anyone who doesn't see it in the notes is sure gonna find out on the logsheet... So if you got a hell of a lot to log, and do a FTF, drop a note as a simple sign that it has been found....
