  5. Ouch, importing it may have been the wrong move then. I recall he was shopping for one when I first met him. I used to sell Garmin products just over 2 years ago and I think he came shopping for one. I may be mistaken though. Culling Song as I mentioned is an old friend. He put down a cache recently in the area too. He is in a new company at the moment and has a whole lot of work on his agenda that is keeping him busy. I am hoping to get out caching with him sometime soon. He was put off by an elusive cache in Durban that he struggled to find but eventually found after a few returns. So he took a back seat for quite a while. I am also in the process of changing jobs and have planted the caching seed with the guy who is taking over from me. He has been driving out with me to clients and I have dropped some caches while he is with me, even checked up on a few. He really likes this whole GPS thing and seems keen on getting one. I am also planning on getting back to my old employee with a few brochures that he can display in the shop. Might get some people shopping for a GPS interested. Funnily enough I first read about Geocaching about 3 years ago and although I sold the units I never had or bought one. If I had known how much fun it was I would have got a unit way back then. Oh and to everyone.... Pleasure to have got your time sorted out.

anlufu and cownchicken are here right now......
  7. Yep I ran into him in the local shopping center. His GPS is on the blink that is why he isn't caching at the moment. Culling Song is an old friend and I managed to get him active again.
  8. Not a problem bud. You should have time for the caches they are roadside caches mostly with the exception of the ones in the Vryheid and Utrecht parks. But seeing that you are going to Kruger Park these two parks should wet the appetite. Not much wildlife but worth the visit.

  10. Haa haa, I too had my time set wrong up till now. Never really bothered with it till now anyway. Realizing that it could confuse some people I quickly changed it. I somehow have that warm fuzzy feeling, now that my time is correct. LOL.....
  11. The time set on your GR profile may be correct but what you need to do is go to the My Controls link at the top of the forums. When the page opens look at the menu on the left and select board settings under the options menu. When the page opens, look at the first entry which is Your base time zone. Under this section you can select South Africa from the dropdown list. Go to the bottom of the page and select change my account settings. The time should now be correct on all subsequent posts. Hope this helped
  12. I'd say..... But I am starting a new job in August so I won't be taking any leave any time soon......

I spy Batsgonemad and his squirrel - either or, one or the other or perhaps both, who knows but I do spy at least one.
  14. I was wondering if you can track your cache finds like you would for instance track a TB or Geocoin in Google Earth. Is there something like that?
  15. Like what does QFC stand for? STAM - So that's a Macro
  16. Man I really did battle with that one at first. It's a big hiding place. It was late both times I went looking and getting dark around the place the cache is hidden. I almost gave up the second time round too but thought about the clue and realized I got the wrong platform. Oh I tried Durban too without much luck. Got the one at Blood River today though so I am happy about that. It was a very easy one despite the size. Man where you get that "container" it is dadgum cool?
  17. Most drops I have done so far have been return trips to places I have traveled before. Some have been spur of the moment but I think the view was worth it. So far I have only three that I have yet to maintain. But they are not far off and yet to be found. Roadside caches are fortunately easy to maintain. I even check up on other peoples caches in my area if I get the chance. But yeah I hear your point. I am always trying to find new places to get caches down. I see places like JHB that have like 500 caches and then my home town with only 3. I hope to at least get some out for the future of caching in our area.
  18. Giving away your age there bud.... But yeah they were dream girls for sure. Oops giving away my age now....

    The Sandpit

Cool man. But they may end up staying here a bit as people don't visit much. But then people may want to lay their hands on some. So that will be great. Gives me reason to do some more inspections.

No-one spies me except I and I spy no-one but me. Eish, they must all be out caching.....
  22. I think I would rather go out with the Porshe Cayene, but I bust it's GPS when I tried to pull it out the dash. Now I have to use my Corsa Lite 2x4. Not the fastest but it is easier to lift out of dongas even with a GPSr in the other hand.
  23. I have my own one. WTFITCH - Where the Flip is this cache hidden. I use it all to often. But that is where a little help comes in handy from the owner.
  24. Welcome to the mad world of geocaching.... Here are some: FTF - First to find a cache GPSr - Global Positioning System Receiver TNLNSL - Took Nothing Left Nothing Signed Logbook TFTC - Thanks For The Cache TFTH - Thanks For The Hunt Travel bugs are trackable items usually with some sort of mission. Could be anything like a logbook that goes from cache to cache to be signed by the finder eventually returning to the owner. Geocoins are much the same. These items can be tracked on Google Earth. Hope this helps a bit. The older guys may be able to help you on more questions. I'm also still a newbie at this.
  25. Hey what's this about hiding caches....? You guys have hidden a few between you. I just got two more down today.... that's 15 so far since March. I am dropping them almost as fast as I find them now. Hey I nearly dropped another one but for lack of a good hiding place and lack of time I opted out of that one. Problem is I found an amazing route home from my Luneburg cache and I vowed that I will be going back there soon to drop plenty of caches. I completely forgot that I had the cache I wanted to drop earlier still in the back seat. So now I am going to have to get some more goodies for at least a few drops.... And you guys thought you had it bad. Anyway I must go, gotta get the ad into job mail - Assistant cache droppers needed..... LOL
