  1. If this is an unacceptable forum to ask the following question, my apologies and please delete this thread. We have an HP Photosmart 320 digital camera. It is by no means the nicest camera and is several years old. I think it came out in '02. It is 2.1 mp. We always used the camera without additional memory added. (sd card) It always has worked fine - despite being dropped many times! lol Since we wanted to start geocaching we though it might be nice to have a camera to snap pics. Tried to buy a camera at walmart but they didnt have the one we wanted. Anyway we thought we would just buy an sd card and some batteries to use the one we had already. Installed and formatted sd card. Seemed to work fine. (It was a 1GB Digital Media card) Took a few pics and tried to upoad them. Here where it gets weird. Sometimes it works fine. Others it does some of the following. -Starts to upload then the screen on the camera goes fuzzy and uploading does not work- locks up. -or it uploads pictures but some of them may look like this. Not all, just some of them. We have only tried uploading maybe 6 times. At least half werent usable. Could it be the SD card? or compatibility issues? Maybe the camera is just old. It always worked fine before. Maybe i will remove the SD card and try it using internal memory. Any ideas? I would call and ask HP but their help only lasts one year from purchase. Thanks!
  2. If accuracy matters, dont get anything but a metal tape. Others will stretch.
  3. Is there a cache without an actual container that could show other interesting things- like remnants of an old home from civil warm times or something along those lines? I looked up local earth caches and found an old building- i think a church. Posted 2/07 How is that geological?
  4. So an earthcache shows off a geological feature. Is there a cache without an actual container that could show other interesting things- like remnants of an old home from civil warm times or something along those lines? I am interested in that kind of stuff. I am still a little confused. I went to Waymarking site and in my area there are a few historical signs marked, a waymark that is someones stupid blog online and a mcdonalds!!! What a useless site.
  5. That seems like a great solution. Where can one be purchased like that?
  6. According to Magellan: Which as far is i understand the same as WAAS. (As far as accuracy.) I have WAAS on mine and am 30 ft away sometimes. Its not often, but it happens.
  7. Thats funny. I cant get mapsend lite to work for me at all!
  8. Magellan doesnt have customer service. They just have a number you can call and then they tell you they cant help you. I only have a Magellan. I wish i would have bought a Garmin.
  9. I think many caches should use parking coordinates. I appreciate the ones that do. Why? Well, you know you are in the correct place and entering from the direction intended by the hider. If the cache is .5 miles away then i really appreciate the coords for parking!
  10. I don't quite see how following your example would lead to a manager giving explicit permission. If I ever decide to do this, I'll pass on using your biased approach as an example to follow. I'll save time and come up with my own way to present it and save time. Why are you so rude? Your going to kick a guy for trying to do what he feels right?
  11. I am no good with PC software. Couldnt someone that is create one that could be taken to Kinkos or the like and be printed and laminated? Even if it wasn't official.
  12. Maybe "twizard" died. Coulda happened.
  13. The log finds are under a different name because this "account" used my name where as my family is using a different name to sign log books- just to be more family oriented. I let my son pick the name. I used the manual and found out how to enter a waypoint manually. I was the one using the GPSr when it dropped the waypoints. We got to 10 feet away then the screen flickered off. Then powered on to the startup screen and finally turned on all the way. It had no points saved to go to. It was no big deal, i guess. If it does it again- i will deal with it. Im not sure what i am confused about! lol I guess i wondered if the unit was ok, or if i payed too much. Thanks!!!
  14. Saturday started looking for something the family could do together. (Mom/Dad 8yr son, 4yr daughter) After searching on the web, found this hobby and thought the kids would like it. Anyway this morning went to Walmart and bought: Magellan Meridian Gold I really had no idea what to buy. I got this one because it appeared to hook up to PC and it had maps in it. It was priced at $200 marked down to $150. (Too much?) After coming home- man, i was lost. I was stupified as to what to do. After fumbling with things this is what happened. Tried hooking up to PC with cord from box (serial). Could not connect with provided MapSend Lite program. Tried EasyGPS and eventually got it to comunicate with the GPSr. We were able to get a few waypoints to the unit and went out and found them. My questions. Is this a good unit? Honestly we were hasty cause we wanted to do something with the kids and they were super excited. I have no idea how to manually enter points into this unit. Can u do that? We were able to find where we wanted to go and log them (under a different name). But i still feel really lost as to what to do. I dont know what to say. Except at one point we got to our find and the unit shut off and when we powered back on no waypoints were in the system anymore. We had to go back home to add them. What do u think? Thanks for the help- i really appreciate your thoughts.
