  1. I also like that info. I just imagined a big pile of bugs on a table in a big mess with everyone and their brother touching them.
  2. The parking waypoints makes sense but it just seems odd as i remember a thread where lots of people claimed that parking waypoints are unnecessary and some didnt use them as it was part of the fun of the hunt to find parking. Maybe some of those people wouldn't use the waypoints anyway. In the cache i am thinking of- the waypoints wouldnt make any difference as you see a parking lot and you want to park there. How would you know to park here or 50 feet in another direction? Do the attributes show up when going paperless? They dont in my PDA using cachemate.
  3. What signs? Assuming the cache is not in a park and on private property- maybe the property owner just doesnt want people wandering around at night. They need to put up signs? It just seems to me that there are so many reason to read the descriptions. Maybe there should be an category for caches where description reading is not necessary.
  4. If you dont read the pages then how do you know if its a 24/7 cache or just a daylight only? Seems like those type of things would be important so as not to cause trouble with the land managers/property owners.
  5. I have found Magellans software to be junk. I just use EasyGPS to load my Maggie and I have never had a problem.
  6. Hmmm. One is near an airport and should not be accessed from their property although it may seem easy to, and another is at a fire station. The chief kindly permitted the cache with one instruction. Never park in the front parkings spots as they are for the firemen to park in an emergency so they can get out quickly. Only use the parking in the back to avoid any chance of slowing us down. Its a nice place to visit, but its their property and they make the rules.
  7. I feel sorry for those that dont read the pages. In fact i can think of several caches where its not a good thing. I know of more than one cache that tells you a certain way to find it/go to it. If people decide on their own and take the wrong way the cache will be archived. I would hate to think that a nice cache would be ruined by those who dont read the cache descriptions. I am thinking of another one where certain unmarked parking spots are never to be used. If these parking spots are used, then the cache will be archived. Please at least read the important details.
  8. Stickers are available a lot of places. Start here first though. This lexicon is very helpful. (Thank Prime Suspect.) Happy caching.
  9. Its an issue of who hosts it. Im not sure if GC will host it. I know that image shack will. Just go there and you will find the url at the bottom after you upload.
  10. 1st question- yes they can. Just post a "note" for the cache and not another Found it log. 2nd Question- They could have been taken by another cacher before you got there. I dont know but i also suspect some just dont care too much about them. (Like some dont care about trading up or trading even.) Other than that- i dont know.
  11. Epoxy is not necessarily a certain type of adhesive. It is a generic term. Thats like saying "use glue". There are many types. JB Weld is an epoxy. If you use an epoxy please state which type or name you have used.
  12. From what i follow that seems to be right. I dont know of a faster way. Im no techie but i have wondered why it isnt easier. Why cant a person put the info straight on their GPS? It would make traveling and doing caches easier when you dont have the aid of a laptop computer. Cachemate is separate so i dont know about that. (Unless GC created its own version of cachemate.) Maybe there is a faster way and i can find out too!
  13. Recently we were working on creating out first cache which included magnets on it. After the first design failed i spent much of Saturday reading through thread after thread of information on suggestions for adhering items (mostly magnets) to plastics (mostly polypropylene and polyethylene.) Upon reading most all the threads i could find on the subject i basically came to three adhesives that were not only recommended by a lot of users but available in my area. The list i came up with was: JB Weld Gorilla Glue Outdoor Goop I contacted all three companies to see what they said about their products adhering to the polypropylene and polyethylene. JB Weld said it would not. Gorilla Glue said it would not adhere to either the plastic or the magnet as it needs a porous surface. Outdoor Goop said in their tests Outdoor Goop did not create a strong bond but i could test it to see if it works for me. I just thought i would share what i found. Other users have put what i think was a pretty good description of this is that mostly all adhesives will not adhere to this type of plastic. (Although at least one person did show an adhesive that would adhere to it. I didnt do too much research on it because it appeared to not be cost effective.) In the end, as was suggested to others before us, we used stronger magnets on the inside of the container. We did use gorilla glue to attach the magnets on the inside of the cache to the plastic. It seemed to hold fine for now anyways. Now all we can do is hope no one tries to take them as swag. I would have posted in an older thread but this applies to more than one thread. BTW the adhesive we originally used was silicone. Its an amazing adhesive- but not right for this type of application. Happy caching.
  14. I believe he would be selling you his password. Just a guess. So someone could log under his name?
  15. I guess it matters what you want the camera for. I dont know cameras but it sounds like most of you are discussing higher dollar cameras. I have no desire to have a high dollar camera. I prefer something cost effective as I am not a photographer and my daughter touches stuff. I agree with what "Juicepig" said earlier: I just replaced my 5 yo digital camera today. I think it was a decent deal. Good enough for me to go geocaching anyways. Its 5MP 3xoptical and a name brand among other features. It was $75. I havent used it outside yet- but it seems ok and the reviews are pretty good.
  16. Just an FYI. I just saw this at Wal-mart yesterday. They have 2 2100mah NIMH AA batteries with AC charger for $4.20 (maybe a few cents more.) They claim 1000 recharges per battery - but take 16 hours to charge. I remember thinking $4 for recargable batteries and charger? They also had 4 AA and charger for $9.xx (under 10) Again 16 hours to charge. I do not know how well they work though.
  17. Just a follow up. I bought a 256 card today. ($4.24 @ Target ) The camera still has the same issues. I was advised it is a hardware issue. I guess we will need to buy another. Thanks for everyones help.

    Ignore list?

Is there a way to ignore topics or members post on the forums?
  19. Used HP chat. They typed in excellent English. I was pleasantly surprised. I was told to use 256 card max. Then i was told to update the firmware. I cant update the firmware until i get a new card. Hopefully this will solve the issue. Why does it matter what size card is used? Makes me curious.
  20. I see its a 4MP. For our upgrade we were hoping for a 5MP minimum. The ones we saw at walmart were $80-$120. I want that and an optical zoom along with room for an sd card. I found a nice Fuji that i liked but it took an xD card instead of an SD card. They only sold one there at walmart and it was $35.
  21. That is really funny you mention. We were going to buy a KodakC653. It was $107. Not the same model, but it makes me wonder what problem(s) you have had. Please share! Thank you!!
  22. Wow. I am glad i asked about the firmware. I dont want to possibly damage anything. I did look here on the HP site and it says: (I was trying to find where your info posted was. ) I cant seem to find a chart anywhere to find out about how many pictures the sd card would hold. We were hoping to get maybe 200+ of the highest resolution on a sd card. How can i find out how many a 256 sd card would hold on a 2.1mp? Does it matter the brand of the sd card? Or just the size? The card i got says " 100% compatible with all major digital devices that work with SD storage solutions". Maybe that means the card is good and my hardware is not! ??? The walmart i go to has all the sd cards on locked pegs. Its almost impossible to read the details on the back of them without taking them off the pegs. I dont know about sd cards and figured you just payed for the size- and the size didnt matter. I will email HP and see if they have any idea. Thanks for everyones help!!
  23. Yes they look ok on the LCD and also on some of the thumbnails before they are viewed after they are on the PC. I dont have a sd card reader. If i need to spend too much i may just buy another camera. I understand its not the best, but i am disabled and have very little income. I was just trying to get by inexpensively.
  24. I did check the website for HP and found this. Maybe that would help. Honestly i dont even know what this is o rwhat it does. I never used a card with this carmera before. Only the 8mb internal memory. I bought the 1gb card because it was a good price. I think $14. For a few dollars less i could get a 254 (or 256 or whatever.) I figured if it could always be used for other things - like my palm or gps. At low resolution internal memory held 64 pics i think. With the sd card now it say it would hold over 11,000! We got it for high resolution and with this is does say that it could hold about 1100 pics at the highest resolution. Would it be beneficial for me to follow the info about the firmware? (Install it?) Is that like a driver for a program? Thanks for all the ideas/ help.
