  1. This is how a Virtual Cache is explained on this website, hope it helps!! A Virtual Cache is about discovering a location rather than a container. The requirements for logging a Virtual Cache vary—you may be required to answer a question about the location, take a picture, complete a task, etc... In any case, you must visit the coordinates before you can post your log. Although many locations are interesting, a Virtual Cache should be out of the ordinary enough to warrant logging a visit.

  3. Hiya and welcome!! I'm a relative newbie too and I'm loving the camaraderie of geocaching and of course, the fun in going out finding them! My lovely family bought me a Garmin etrex 20 for my birthday and I'm finding it ideal although it did take a bit of getting used to!! Now I have mastered it though, it's ideal for my needs and I would recommend it as a good start! Hope you have as much fun as I do!!
  4. Ermmm.... Cos my names's alan and I live in Wales!! Lol!!
  5. Next time you post a question, please use some punctuation. It is very difficult to make sense out of someone's writing when the sentences are all run together. Maybe he's related to or influenced by e e cummings. Let's not crush his natural style, his "voice." Fine, then you read it. I'm not going to try to help anyone who won't make the effort to write in a coherent manner. Hmmm.... Maybe you should be a little more understanding Nancy? Not everyone is 100% perfect on grammar, punctuation or spelling. We're all here to help aren't we? Come on, I'm not asking for 100% perfection on anything. I'm not picking on the spelling or grammar, or the correctness of punctuation--only the total lack thereof. I'm only asking for someone who is asking for help to make it easier for those who would like to help. My only complaint is, and I'll repeat it exactly: It is very difficult to make sense out of someone's writing when the sentences are all run together. Hmmmm...

  7. Well firstly, I'm no expert on this but as there is mention in the latest release notes about disabling a secondary account if you no longer use it, I feel certain that a fair few others have had at some stage, more than one account going. If I were you I wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure someone from the site will tell you if you're doing something you shouldn't! Happy Caching!!
  8. Thank you!! I've just done it! Good. Now I can see what the heck you're talking about.
  9. Help!! Can someone please tell me how to get the Sidetracked awards ranking to appear on my geocaching.com profile? I have the code to copy into my profile but I can't find where I should copy it to!!
  10. I've not long started caching and I've bought some personalised wooden discs from www.ukgeocachers.co.uk ... At £4.99 for 20, I think they're a bargain!
  11. Many thanks for all your replies!! After much playing around, I've now found out where I was going wrong!!
  12. I'm a bit stuck as to how to physically locate a cache when I've worked out the final co-ordinates from the clues provided!! I work out the final co-ords and type them into my (android) phone in "search by co-ordinates" but it either goes to nearby caches (normally the first part of the multi,) goes to a point on the map which isn't the co-ords I posted, or does nothing at all! So, can anyone tell me how to get the compass to point me to the final co-ordinates cos it's driving me mad!!! Incidentally if I put the co-ords into Google maps, that also sends me to co-ords slightly different to what I keyed in!!
  13. I'm a newbie too and I wondered the same thing! I just came back from a trip locally where I ended up on a footbridge which is GZ... Even though it was pouring with rain it was rush hour for Muggles (Wow, that's the first time I've used the word!!) I must have looked very suspicious, standing on a bridge in the pouring rain, whistling innocently! However, I managed to locate the cache and then wandered away from the spot to sign the log, I then had to wait another several minutes getting soaked, waiting to put the container back! I guess we'll soon learn how to be discrete!!
