  1. If everything (maps, waypoints, routes, tracks, etc) has it's own little cubbyhole in the memory, then is the 115 MB is it just for the maps or for everything put together?
  2. I agree. Although a Garmin representative (phone call to cust support) recommended that I use my Dad's other unlock code, I wouldn't do it. It's just not right. I was just concerned about ME using it on multiple computers. I found the answer....
  3. I just did. I couldn't find anywhere that had the correct data. Does that matter?
  4. Does anyone know how to find out how much memory you have left in the 76CS? I downloaded a bunch of CS maps and now I'm not sure how much memory I have left. Are the routes, waypoints and tracks saved in another block of memory or do they all share the same lot? I searched the pdf form of the manual for the word memory and not much came up.
  5. Called Garmin after my new 76cs & CS v5 came in yesterday and they said that they encourage installing the software on a second computer if you have such an opportunity. Since the 25-digit unlock code is unit-specific, they don't care how many computers you install it on. <off subject> I wish they would show you what is updated in CS v6. I'm getting a free update since I just bought CS last week, but still I'd like to know if I-85 bypass near Greensboro, NC is in the new version. And if new sections of HWY 460 near Lynchburg, VA have been updated. </off>
  6. Item was sold to a lady in California. Thanks for looking
  7. Last chance... 1 hour and 40 minutes to go....hurry.
  8. please close the topic since the unit was sold. thanks
  9. Less than a day to go...Got at least one bid on it.
  10. Thanks for the help. Funny that Garmin doesn't put all of that in plain English on their site. Either that or I missed it.
  11. <off subject> What is the difference between City Select & MetroGuide USA? I've ordered City Select for North America but was wondering what the difference was. It looks like Metroguide is now just for overseas stuff. Is that correct? </off>
  12. I was just reading the manual for the Garmin's Mapsource software. In section 2 of the EUSA, it says that the software can only be installed on a single computer or network. and it goes on to say that you may Does "loaded" mean running or installed? I'd like to be able to use the City Select Software at home and work. I'd be the only user able to access the software so is this ok?
  13. I have a new 76cs on the way with everything that I need for it, so I'm selling my 72 and all of its accessories on Ebay. The auction closes Tuesday 6-22 @8:20am EDT. There is nothing wrong with it at all. I've had it since Feb-03 and have loved it. Here is what comes with it. GPSr 72 with instructions Coiled Cigarette lighter cable computer cable Gillson neoprene case (has strap on the back for attaching to bike handle bars) If you are interested go here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=5705325569. The 72 is a great starter GPS.
  14. Still no bids yet on Ebay. It's a steal for only $90. Hurry before the auction ends!! Here is the item's page http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=5705325569
  15. I have a new 76cs on the way with everything that I need for it, so I'm selling my 72 and all of its accessories on Ebay. Here is the link. There is nothing wrong with it at all. I've had it since Feb-03 and have loved it. Here is what comes with it. GPSr 72 with instructions Coiled Cigarette lighter cable computer cable Gillson neoprene case (has strap on the back for attaching to bike handle bars) Please give it a look. If you need a GPS, this is a great package for a starter's price. FYI. Retail on everything above ~$230. Thanks.
  16. I bought the 76CS off of ebay for $430 +$15 shipping. I got the bike mount & auto nav kit off of gpsdiscount.com for ~$170. Looking forward to using it. BTW. my old 72 is on ebay if anyone needs one. complete with neoprene case, coiled power cable, & computer cable. no wrist strap but everything else is what came with it.
  17. Thanks a lot for all of the feedback. It looks like the 76CS with City Select is for me. Now to find the best price. Looks like ebay has some under $400.
  18. I contacted Garmin to ask about what is the difference in the Basemaps loaded into the two units. here is there reply.... I replied back and asked if the City Select is necessary with the 76CS. I'll post the response as soon as I get it. If I don't need the City Select then that would save about $100 over the 60CS. Also it appears as though they have the same screen installed in them. Just a matter of the button position (I have the 72 so that's not a big deal), size (again not a big deal), and the (factory installed) tide tables.
  19. I'm having trouble figuring out which of these units I should get. I 'd like to get the auto-routing feature and both of these have this. A couple of people I know have the 60CS and they seem to like it. I currently have a GPS 72 which doesn't have maps at all. But the body style is similar to the 76.... What to do, what to do? Thanks ,
  20. Ah yes. That is how.... I looked under a couple of the links and they all had the guid instead of the ID. But I must have missed it.Thanks Keystone Approver. I guess that just goes to show you that you shouldn't stop trying until you give up....or something like that! Thanks for the help.
  21. I might have missed this but I did 3 or 4 searches to try to find it. How do you convert the newer waypoint ID's (GCHHHH) to a decimal format? Feel free to Markwell me, I haven't been in the geocaching world for about 6 months. I needed to take a hiatus because of the birth of my daughter. I'm getting back into it now and would like to use the ...&id=xxxx in my links on a new cache but am clueless on how the new numbering system works. Thanks
  22. Yes. You can. Just download the EasyGPS program to download the waypoints. It's fairly easy hence the name. Good Luck! kc row, row, row your boat

  25. But if you give away the perks of being a charter member, what incentive will people have to join? Some things shouldn't be available to non-members. I'm not being snooty or anything, it's just simple economics. kc row, row, row your boat
