  4. Very good story, did you have him for dinner? As a side note to this. Most people think that if they are struck/bitten by a rattler that the snake has injected them with vemon. This is not always true and even if the snake did inject vemon, the dose may be a small amount. If the snake killed recently, it may not have replenished it's load of vemon. The smaller the person (weight) the more dangerous the vemon. The vemon is for killing prey, (mice, birds, rats and such)and rattlers would prefer to save it for that purpose. The rattles and a strike without vemon is usally all they have to do to persuade a interloper to leave them alone. So, if you are bitten/struck by a rattler just stay calm and get to the nearest health care location at a safe speed. Don't cut, suck or otherwise work on the bite area. If possible take the very dead snake with you for ID purposes. "It is interesting to note that rattlesnakes can control the injection of venom when biting; up to 60% of all poisonous snake bites to humans are "dry," containing no venom." This quote is from Wisconsin DNR And you may want to look at other related websites. I wear a pair of Rocky uninsulated snake proof boots for caching. they can be purchased at: Cabela's BTW, deepfried rattlesnake meat is delicious I have flouted the wild, I have followed its lure, fearless. familar, alone; yet the wild must win, and a day will come when I shall be overthrown. 8. I may be the only one in the world that this BUG affects, I suspect because I use Netscape v.4.77(an old version). Anyone using Netscape 7.x or higher, did the new features show up for you? I see no changes to the layout of these forum pages. They look just like they did. The forum posts numbers are reduced and the topic dates are all screwed up, but that is about it. No new features. Is this forum considered a report of my bug? I have flouted the wild, I have followed its lure, fearless. familar, alone; yet the wild must win, and a day will come when I shall be overthrown. 14. NO "Topic: Is it morally acceptable? To place a cache in an old cemetary." After reading the question again, I notice you say the cemetery is not fenced. But your question Reads "in an old cemetary". I have visited many an old cemetery while working on my genealogy hobby and it is usally not difficult to tell where the pyshical boundry is. Just try to stay well outside the suspected boundry and I don't think most people would object. At least, I would not. Old cemeteries are a wonderful place to visit, make it a night only cache for some real fun. Is it against the rules here at GC.com to place a cache inside the boundry of a cemetery? I don't know, but maybe someone will tell us. I have flouted the wild, I have followed its lure, fearless. familar, alone; yet the wild must win, and a day will come when I shall be overthrown. 17. quote:Originally posted by Cache Canucks: quote:Originally posted by Team Bohica:"...I started teaching my son about knives and guns before he even started kindergarten. He is now 6. He has his own pocket knife and a rifle he keeps in his bedroom..." Please, someone tell me that I'm not the only one who finds themselves shaking their head in astonishment at the idea of ANY 6 year old who sleeps with a *real* rifle(...??!?) in their bedroom. It doesn't matter how well ol'Pappy has taught Junior (or what part of Texas you hail from) ...at that age, shouldn't there be a baseball glove, some Pokemon cards, and perhaps a stuffed toy animal or two in the corner of a little boy's room - not a .22 Remington? I am of the belief that it is better to train our young men and women in the use of firearms at an early age, so that when we rightfully decide to take on a modern day hitler they will be better prepared. Who would you prefer shoot at Saddam (or a burglar, rapist, murderer in your home), a youth raised in the ways of firearms or a kid who never touched one because his parents thought they were dangerous items. As a parent, I feel obligated to give my children all of the skills they will need to survive in this world, and that includes training in the use of firearms. Our rights come from our Creator. The gun simply protects them, from other goverments or our own. The people of Great Britian and Austrailia are finding that out now. They have no way to protect their rights except by the good graces of their goverment. May God help them, because they can not help themselves. We do indeed live in different worlds. 18. quote:Originally posted by Jeremy (Admin):If there are any caches with alcohol in them, please let me know. We ask that you don't put knives in caches. It's up to you to decide what a knife is and whether it is appropriate to put it in a cache. Jeremy Irish Groundspeak - The Language of Location This quote seems to say (with a wink & nod) that knives are offically on the do not put in list, but if I don't know it it is not a problem. So, obey the rule if you want, it's up to each cacher to decide. Just don't tell Jeremy a knife is in a cache. I understand that Jeremy has to have a official stance on this and other subjects having to do with liability for this website. 22. No, but what I did in a place where I could not hide a cache was to hide one nearby and direct the finders attention to the nearby waterfall that I wanted them to see and hear. Read my cache info. I did not even consider a virtual, have not found one yet either. Course I never lost one! 23. Jeremy wrote, "The official stance on geocaching.com is that lighters don't have their place in geocaches. It's a general safety issue and a good blanket policy." And I agree that it is a good general safety rule. It is not just a kid safety issue, just common sense to me. There are too many items that are approriate for our caches to risk putting in one that may cause a problem. And there may be some personal liability issues as well.
