  1. Thank you, everyone. I guess I'll have to get used to moving vehicle TBs in and out of "my collection"... which seems like something HQ has overlooked and hasn't any incentive to change.
  2. Wow. This is a lot! I'm confused about some things but I'm getting some ideas about the things I've seen going on. I read the link to trackables ( https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=42&pgid=148 ) and now I have to ask; what is "couching a log"?
  3. There are a couple I've seen as intended. Most are "just another cache".
  4. Are you new to Geocaching? There are litterally thousands of these being sold by Groundspeak and if this is the end result ...it smaks of being a fraudulent sales item.
  5. My geo-partner and I each have bought trackable numbers for our geo-mobiles. And, at a recent geo-bash event we logged "discovered" logs for several other geo-mobiles. Our geo-mobiles were also logged as "discovered". This activity neither added to the map nor to the "finds" of anybody. Why do we bother to log these trackable stickers? Is there a better way to log those found stickers? I feel I must be missing something and the folks that logged our stickers are apparently also missing something.
  6. It's "owned" and so not in my app inventory. The desktop/web site only allows me to "write a note".
  7. That didn't work but I'm now thinking it's because it's not just in my inventory, it's "owned". I guess it can only be "discovered" by others and only have "notes" written by me. It travels with me but there won't be any "visiting" as with other trackables that are only with me for a while until I "drop" them.
  8. Is there a way to go back and log the trackable's visit to a cache? Seems the only option I'm offered is to "Write a note".
  9. I thought I was deleting it but it was "Archived" and so, I can see it but it's not posted to the cache's log and when I try to write a new log that's not an option. AllI can do is Send Answers, DNF or, write a note.
  10. For a complex reason involving my phone and my laptop, I have archived a post I wrote thinking I'd remove it and get a do-over. Now I can't post my logon that cache.
  11. I can't find a way to set a waypoint on my Android phone and I'm sure that this used to be possible. Was there a change in the app? How do we record our lat and lon for a new cache?
  12. Setting up a tour cache trail and would like to release all at once for publication but, need to get them to a reviewer one at a time (for their sanity and to resolve issues). So how do I hold them back from publication until all issues resolved, reviewed and "good to go"?
  13. Your posting here reminded me of something that, it seems, some aren't aware of... BEFORE disconnecting your unit from the computer, you should right-click on that particular drive, then select EJECT. The computer will then tell you it is OK to remove the unit. What can happen if you do not take that step is that you could end up with only a partial loading. ---- Regarding "slow recognition time" -- I have noticed that, but usually just when opting to use the SD card for storage rather than internal memory. At that, it is only a couple of seconds. You can, if you prefer, remove the (properly formatted) SD card from the unit, and plug it directly to the computer or use a card reader to load the GPX files. The card recognition time can be much faster if the computer doesn't have to read it through the GPSr unit. Properly EJECTING prior to removal should still be done. Gotchya! (This is where a "thumb up" emoticon would go ...if there was one.) Thanks.
  14. OK. Fantastic help! Thank you guys... see you round the caching circuit. Enjoy!
  15. Hummm.... I don't have an idle TB but I do have an archived cache. I just posted a pic to that and it does show in the cache's gallery but not in my personal one on Public Profile. Does it take longer to make it to the PP from an archived cache? It showed immediately in the cache's gallery.
  16. Very cool. Thank you. That sounds easy enough. Too bad there isn't a more direct method.
  17. There seems to be no lack of experience here so I'm maybe bringing up a non-issue but I have noticed my lap top and my PC have very different amounts of, I'll call it, "recognition time" That is, for instance, my lap top will chime as if the connection to my Garmin is complete but in actuality if I check My Computer file listing, it is not yet listed. In fact, my lap top unit is extremely slow to recognize the Garmin. So, I'm wondering if attempting to download files before there is an actual recognized connection would account for partial downloads of lists of gpx files.
  18. There have been times we've taken pix with the gang while caching that would contain spoilers. So, not wanting to post them to the cache log, we've looked for a way to save our caching gallery, viewable from our public profile, where there would be no reference to a particular cache and distance would mean it's unlikely the cache could be deduced from features in the pic. Alas... we see no way to do this.
  19. Moderator: You may close or delete this subject... if you wish. Thanks!
  20. Alternately, this is good to know too! Thanks.
