Hallo Rampensau,
hier tritt das bisher nicht auf. Habe extra mal den Internet-Explorer angestartet, da auch nichts.
Evtl. wird das Problem von einem unerwünschten Add-on/Plugin bzw. Toolbar im Browser selbst verursacht. Oder gar von einer bereits installierten Schadsoftware, die auf diesem Weg eine Ausführung mit Administrationsrechten zu erschleichen sucht....

The POI Export-Function (i.e. useful for older etrex devices) will also shorten names if needed. It also tries to be somewhat smart in doing it. (Surely this is not exactly the same as the Smartnames function in GSAK)
Here's an eample of name shortening in the POI export:
If needed spaces (& non alphanumeric chars) are removed and caps is alternated to mark the next word. If the name ends on a number that is usually retained. I.e. "VeryVeryLongName IV" gets "VeryVeryLongIV" and "I didn't know a name 2" would get "IdidntKnowAna2".
Names ending on "#" in this image are exported waypoints (i.e. #PK = Parking).

We use GDAK on two android phones (and sometimes on the table). Both are not the newest and fastest. Basically, the older the phone gets the less RAM it has usually. Your tablet probably has 1GB, current phones usually start from 512mb and older may only have 256MB. This may limit performance and also cause apps to close if not enough memory remains.
My Wife uses currently a LG GT 540. This has a 320x480 3" Display (resistive Touchscreen). Also Micro-SD and GPS (well it can take a while for the fix). This phone runs (updated) with 2.1 and GDAK runs also. You'll just have to wait a bit until it loads (depending on the db size). Performance is rather slow but it works. It has some 3 Megapixel Camera. As this phone is a bit older it may quickly become outdated. But there exist custom roms (i.e. for android 2.3).
I currently use a Sony Experia Mini Pro (SK17i). I use it with Android 2.3 but there's an ICS Update ready (no further updates to come). It has a hardware keyboard (great for fieldnotes). Also a small 320x480 3" Display (capacitive Touchscreen). It comes also with a quite usable camera and it has a photo led which can be used as torch with an app. Also it comes with ANT+ (never used it) and GLONASS (I see the satellites but never noticed that they are used). GPS runs well as long as you download AGPS Data from Time to Time (with GPSTest).
Both devices have a "REAL" gps. This means it is a gps included in the chipset (qualcomm/snapdragon or whatever). AGPS data is just needed for speeding up the first fix. Which can else take quite a while if GPS is enabled seldomly.

I just tried out a solution which worked here for my android phone and the stock geocaching app.
I used Firefox with the greasemonkey add-on and the following script:

That script shows the qr-code of the currently displayed cache if you select the drop-down on the upper right of the cache-listing.
I then started a barcode reader on the phone (network has to be enabled) and then chose to open the link (from the qr-code) in the browser. Then I had the option to load it in the geocaching app --> The cache displayed in the app.
Well... nearly easy. ;-)
Would be even easier if Groundspeak adds a qr-reader in its app and a qr-code display without the need to use an additional script.

Der Empfang von ANT+ soll bei einigen Telefonen auch eine wesentlich geringere Reichweite haben. Man muß das Telefon dann quasi direkt neben das Chirp halten. ;-)
Mein Telefon kann theoretisch auch Ant+, bin aber noch nicht in die Nähe eines funktionierenden Chirps gekommen (der letzte am Weg war disabled, Batterie alle?).

das mit dem Freund war genau die richtige Idee. Eigentlich dürfte es häufig weiterhelfen Nachbarcacher anzusprechen. Oder bei einzelnen fraglichen Caches auch mal den Owner.
Ich wollte auch bestimmt nicht darauf hinwirken, dass Du Premium Member wirst. Hab ich nichts von.
Das mit dem Rollstuhl ist natürlich manchmal etwas unpraktisch. Ich hoffe Du schnappst Dir einen Assistant-Cacher, der für Dich dann in die Gräben springt.

As far as I know this works only for "Trimble Outdoor". (Who uses this? Do they even have maps outside the US?)

ich habe ja (noch) nie einen Cache selbst versteckt, kann also gar nicht mitreden.
Aber um Frust zu vermeiden weise ich daraufhin, dass für die Abstandsregel natürlich auch die Multi-Finals+Stationen (grob gesagt) und Mystery-Finals berücksichtigt werden. Diese sind nicht auf der Karte verzeichnet. Bei Mysteries liegt das Final fast immer 2-3km im Umkreis des Fragezeichens.
Ebenso gibt es hier und da Premium-Caches welche für "nicht Premium-Mitglieder" nicht oder nur bedingt auf der Karte sichtbar sind.
Im Zweifelsfall wird Dich der Reviewer auf einen solchen Konflikt hinweisen und den Cache eben nicht freischalten.

I am going to try gdak since it is similar to gsak, I'm familiar with that.
As English isn't my native language my post was probably difficult to understand. But no problem. Go on trying GDAK. That's what I do.

AFAIK no. Google allows to share a bought app with up to 5 devices on the same account (only). But there's no account sharing between the google and apple store.

The map has a "Position mode" and a "Pan mode" (see manual pages 24-25). The latter is entered when you move the joystick.
Press the "Page"-Key (upper right) to go back to the Position mode.
You can track your way using the track log. It should mark your way with a dotted line.
See manual page 16-17 if you didn't set it up yet.
We once were happy to have these "bread crumbs" because one of our kids had lost something expensive "somewhere" on the track. We just followed nearly the whole way back and were lucky to recover it.

I own no iPhone nor do I use the Geocaching.com app (on android) regularly.
But the correct Mystery coordinates should appear if you import the mysteries from a pocket query.
But do not refresh those caches (unless loading a newer PQ).
The problem is that you do not have an indication telling whether the coordinates are corrected or "original".

There's also the windows program GAPP which can export cache databases for GDAK. (The GAPP and the GDAK authors write in the same netherlands forum).

It can import GPX from different sources and also has a live API access to import PQs & more online from geocaching.com.
I use GAPP (windows) and GDAK (android) regularly.

I would like to separate Fav Points from logging awards (which do not yet exist).
Good logs are (hopefully) a reward for the cache owners and therefore an essential part of the game (I think). Some people may still need some motivation to write more than a TFTC or +1. Simple statistics of words per log won't do as those won't recognize i.e. copy&paste logs (including long signatures, ascii arts and so on).
I think a "Thank you for this log" function triggerable only by the cache owner would be nice. Those "thank you" then just add to another counter like the finds or challenges.
Some people may then be tempted to hunt for these log rewards by writing good logs.
Those "Thank you" could even be diversified in "Helpful" (i.e. some detailed DNF) or "Funny" or "Epic".
Abuse may still happen, but it will always happen as already mentioned.

You should always be able to directly download Pocket Queries online from the geocaching.com site using the standard android browser.
Those downloads land in the .downloads folder and can be transferred with with file managers (some also support unzipping) to other folders i.e. SD-cards or devices connected via USB mounted in MSD (Mass-Storage-Device) mode.
That does not require a rooted device. But writing to external memory (SD-Cards) may require using the stock/manufacturers file manager on some android tablets (also there exists a beta of the "Total Commander" app which adresses this problem).
What will not work are functions which require special Garmin drivers/plugins. So you can "just" copy (map/gpx/image) files to the gps. That is because currently there do not exist such drivers and even if they did it would require a rooted device to install them.
Personally I also use GDAK on my tablet (Toshiba AT 200) and phone (Sony Xperia Mini Pro). As my current GPS (Etrex Vista Hcx) does not support gpx-import from microSD it makes no sense to connect it to the tablet for me. I just preload tons of cache+wpts as custom POI on the GPS (with the pc) and use the phone for accessing the listings.

Windows 8 on tablet is totally new. As I understood there is a cheaper variant based on ARM processors which does not run any existing Intel windows software. And then there's some more expensive intel atom version which probably may run windows software. But then is the question if the Garmin USB drivers are compatible with that windows 8 hardware.
About android devices and garmin. You should be able to copy gpx-files to your garmin.
If you download a gpx file for a single cache or a pocket query on the android tablet, those file a stored in the tablets download folder. Pocket queries may be zipped but can be unzipped on the tablet by tools (I usee the total commander on android for unzipping).
There are basically two methods to transfer those gpx files to your tablet. I haven't tested any of them.
I. Set up your garmin as mass-storage Device (letting the other device access the memory card)
a) Connect the tablet via usb-cable to the garmin. Depending on the tablets usb connectors you can either use an ordinary USB cable or a "USB-To-Go" Adapter/Cable.
b ) Use a File Manager (Toshiba has one I think) to copy the gpx files to the garmin.
c) Hopefully the garmin can open the gpx files from its sd-card.
II. Take the micro-sd out of the garmin and plug it into the tablets sd-slot.
b ) Use a File Manager to copy the gpx-files. There's a chance that you are forced to use the tablets manufacturers file manager for this because tablets can be tricky with write access to FAT16/32 sd-cards.
I don't use this method because my etrex Vista Hcx can't read gpx-files.

zunächst mal sorry, Charlinsky, da fällt mir aktuell auch nichts zu ein. I transportiere auch nur ab und an TBs und mir ist das so noch nicht untergekommen.
Mein Gesülze zum Thema:
Ja das mit den TBs ist schon kompliziert.
Es gibt da doch einige ungeschriebene Regeln, auf die man von selbst als (TB-)Anfänger nicht unbedingt kommt. So einfach rausnehmen, loggen, reinlegen, loggen ist es eben nicht. Wenn der Vorbesitzer noch keinen Log gemacht hat und man nun in in falscher Sicht der Situation (Wieso wird der Cache nicht angeboten? Wurde wohl ohne Log reingelegt? Na irgendwie muss ich doch den neuen Ort des TBs bekannt machen?) einen Grab macht, ist man wohl gleich Superböse.
Bei mir hat sich zwar noch niemand beschwert, aber ich kann nicht ausschließen, daß ich auch mal Unkenntnis so eine böse Tat begangen habe.
Ich bitte daher allgemein um Verständnis bei den Verärgerten. Die "Bösen" taten es manchmal schlicht aus Unkenntnis der technischen Mängel der Website.
Viel schöner fände ich es, wenn Groundspeak den "Zu Spät"-Loggern es ermöglichen würde den Drop dennoch zu loggen (und den folgenden Log damit umzuwandeln), damit sich so eine Sache geradezieht, die sonst nur für Streß sorgt. Denn eigentlich sehe ich das als Fehler/Inkonsistenz in der Software an.

Hi mporokosa,
perhaps the problem is not in the PQ but in your GPS.
You can open the GPX-File of a PQ also in a browser to search it. (You might have to unzip it before if it is zipped).
Simply drag the gpx to i.e. an open internet explorer window.
The contents should be displayed, you might have to klick a + to open a hierarchy level.
First verify the timestamp in the first lines of the file. That one should be up to date.
Then search the GC-Code in the "page" (Strg+F).
The logs are typically after the listing "Groundspeak:logs".
Just a guess: There may be a log with special chars (like backslash & quotes) which causes a compatibility issue in your GPS.
If the newer logs are present in the PQ then it is an issue of your GPS and you could post your question (perhaps stating also the cache-id & the make and model of your gps) in the GPS Technology Forum or the GPS Manufacturers forum.

The Cache Manager GAPP also has some function to support dipping a trackable into the own finds:
The intra-day problem stays anyway the same. As there is no log-time the finds of a single day have to be logged in chronologically order (or whatever order you prefer) to let the finds be visited in the correct order by the trackable.

Ich benutze die Geocaching App auch nur ausnahmsweise. Die Listen haben aber meine ich nichts mit den Lesezeichenlisten von der Website zu tun. Das sind lokale "Datenbanken" mit Caches. Am Einfachsten fand ich es eine Pocketquery auf der Website zu definieren und diese dann in eine dieser "Listen" auf dem Telefon herunterzuladen.
Als Premium-Member kannst Du aber auch einige andere Android-Apps sinnvoll nutzen, die die Live-API verwenden. Häufig bieten jene Apps auch die Möglichkeit Offline-Karten anzuzeigen so daß man auch dort cachen kann wo der Telefonempfang mies ist bzw. im Ausland ohne teuere Datentarife für den Maps-Download zu zahlen.
Ich verwende z.B. GDAK. Das Tool bietet zwar auch eine Möglichkeit die Cachen per Live-API abzufragen aber richtig praktisch es es vor allem, weil man direkt größere Datenbanken mit Caches am PC (mit den Programmen GAPP oder GSAK) vorbereiten und auf das Telefon/die Anwendung übertragen kann.
Andere schwören auf NeonGeo oder auch Locus (Pro). Natürlich gibt es noch tonnenweise weitere Apps.
Das hier erwähnte c:geo ist sicherlich kein schlechtes Programm. Aber es bzw. seine Nutzung verstößt gegen die "Terms Of Use", da es die Caches an der API vorbei über das Auslesen der Webseiten ermittelt.

Eine Hilfestellung, die bei fast jedem Mystery besteht ist, daß die Koordinaten des Zielpunktes fast immer im Umkreis von 2-3 Kilometern um die Koordinaten des Fragezeichens zu suchen sind.
Daher kann man sich teilweise schon denken, wo eine bestimmte Zahl/Ziffer als Ergebnis erwartet wird.
Speziell zu diesem Rätsel kann ich Dir nur raten mal Bekannte und Freunde mit dem Rätsel samt Erläuterung abzuklappern. Vielleicht findet jemand die richtige Herangehensweise.

We also (still) go caching with an Etrex Vista HCX.
I use the windows tool GAPP (you can also use the program GSAK + a Garmin POI Export Macro) the load the Etrex with about 10000 Caches + Waypoints in the POI Format (but no listing or log information). That way you can basically see at least cache type (by icon) the full name, d/t and the hint (if it is not too long) on the Vista.
I use my smartphone + an app to have paperless cache information available & being able to query new caches online in the worst case.
For preparing holiday travels I usually also prepare some print outs. I use the Firefox + Greasemonkey script GCTour (http://gctour.madd.in/) for that. That script saves a lot of paper and also provides overview lists & maps as well as detail maps if required.

ein bisschen spät aber vielleicht hilfts ja noch.
Ich habe kein etrex20 (meins ist ein vista hcx) aber man kann Karten auch grenzübergreifend zusammenstellen, falls das GPS es nicht unterstützt.
Dazu kann man Europa bzw. einzelne OSM-Länderkarten z.B. herunterladen (es gibt solche mit Installationsprogramm) installieren und mit Mapsource/Basecamp (z.B. dort: Velomap )die Zielkarte aus den gewünschten Teilbereichen generieren lassen.
Es gibt auch eine Online-Site, die ebenso die Manuelle Auswahl der Teilbereiche zuläßt und dann eine Gesamtkarte generiert: Free worldwide Garmin maps
