  1. Look on page #5 quick start guide. It does show a circle on the outer ring. Here is what I found. With the unit in North up it will show the circle you are talking about. If your unit is facing north the circle will be North .As you turn east, west etc. the small circle show the direction the top of the gps is pointing in. If you are facing west the 0 will be at the w side of the Satellite screen and so forth . Try it out.
  2. Not on mine. I just powered up and all I get is what you see on page# 9 of the owner's manual. The outer circle does cover up part of the N S E W letters and it does turn as you turn. Could this possibly be what you are seeing? [This message was edited by Scrapman on May 01, 2002 at 11:36 AM.]

  4. I replaced my eMap with the 76S. It came in 4/24/02. It is great. Does very well under thick tree cover. Got me to within 8 feet of a cache. If this is your 1st Gps suggest you buy 4 re-chargeable's. Read your quick start manual. Make sure understand how to intialize correctly. Once you do this put the unit in the Simulator mode and just go through the manual page by page. I spent 4 days and still learning. I had no problems down loading or up-loading from Map Source. The extra memory 24MB is a real plus for routes and tracking. I have to give it a 10. 6. A good price if you get both the 8MB Map Data Card and the MetroGuide CD-Rom
