  1. This Travel bug( http://www.geocaching.com/track/track_detail.asp?ID=45892 ) is in New Jersey(Mopar?) region....it has a deadline to be in my region by feb 14th, if anyone is near it, if they can move it just a bit closer to me I would Appreciate it. The bug may be featured in a newpaper article thanks...
  2. Planet....is that the Wally World Special??? I have 2 of them in my car(somewhere), only i got mine at Gander Mountain last spring while they were on sale for $2. And I pickup an "outhouse-blind" for those emergecies while out caching....LOL He prayeth best, who loveth best All things both great and small; For the dear God who loveth us, He made and loveth all. S. T. Coleridge
  3. Also....I forgot...I asked about the game Commisions' position on Geocaching...and they don't have an offical position...it's a non-issue. So if you want to place caches on SGL(State Game Lands), feel free to do so... Just make sure you're wearing your Saftey orange!!!! He prayeth best, who loveth best All things both great and small; For the dear God who loveth us, He made and loveth all. S. T. Coleridge
  4. Ok Folks...here's a Head's up....brand new 135.41 State Game lands Section C number 21. is the actual regulationState Game Land Regs You Need to be wearing fluorescent Orange during Hunting season!!! 5. I just got a notice that my racer was moved... YEAH!! Now it has moved 500 miles...and has NOT left the Great State of New York!!!! How many others haven't made it out of the state???? He prayeth best, who loveth best All things both great and small; For the dear God who loveth us, He made and loveth all. S. T. Coleridge
  6. Frankly Any Cache hike with a view is going to be fantastic. if "Echo of Camp Kline" gets approved in time, it's going to offer fantastic views of the Pine Creek Valley. the Question is....will Isabel and the wet summer have an Adverse affect on the Foliage? Many of the trees have just dropped their leaves without changing. And Others are showing that while the leaves are still on the branches...they're basically dead green leaves... 7. Hook Will be Missed....it was well worth the effort He prayeth best, who loveth best All things both great and small; For the dear God who loveth us, He made and loveth all. S. T. Coleridge
  8. After monitoring the cache container for "Tombstone Lot", and talking to a few people I am changing it to a larger container. Ammo cans do not appear to suffer form condensation like plastic containers do. Since it's going to be almost triple the size of the orginal, and it's an easy find/retreave/replace, I was thinking of appending the name and making it "Tombstone Lot:Bug Hotel" I will accept any suggestions on this... He prayeth best, who loveth best All things both great and small; For the dear God who loveth us, He made and loveth all. S. T. Coleridge
  9. Way to go....But shouldn't your counter have rolled over??? it's still at 99, and it was at that a day ago.... could the Gremlins be at it again??? He prayeth best, who loveth best All things both great and small; For the dear God who loveth us, He made and loveth all. S. T. Coleridge
  10. quote:Originally posted by Divine:Most popular feature requests are not necessarily the most important. For example, since probably about 75% of cachers (and presumably even bigger percentage of forum readers i.e. feature voters) are from the US, I doubt that e.g. my and some other people's kilometers-instead-of-miles-on-nearest-cache-page-preference-request would get voted much. Yet (I suppose) it's a pretty simple request and quite important to some geocachers. The color code thingy seems pretty funky idea though. - I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory. - Acutally that Is already done, adn it's switchable, so you can have Kilo's or Miles! 11. Travel Bugs, Geo-Coins...they are all basically the same thing..some cost a bit more, some a bit less...If they decide on makeing Tags Plastic...it's just another "traveler" For those interested in just the number...I heard that UPS sells tracking Numbers for $3, but I couldn't find confirmation of that... 12. Travel Bugs...you may visit any cache as many times as you want to pick-up or drop off Bugs. I have done this a few times... He prayeth best, who loveth best All things both great and small; For the dear God who loveth us, He made and loveth all. S. T. Coleridge
  13. I agree on all your points....but there's one or two points you're missing.... From my Understandings....is 1 Virtual caches can only be placed where it's Impossible to put a physical cache. I have learned there are a ton of places to hide a physical cache....you just need to use your imagination(and maybe a micro container) 2 I thought Virtual Caches were still ON-HOLD until they finish a seperate section for them like "Benchmarks". but...that's just my understanding I am working on my "moving" cache... If this rule still persist, I will remove all pictures I've taken so far (that is not much) and will never put up any new either (and that could have been many...) What ARE you talking about??? I know of NO section on THIS forum where you haev to surrender your copyright to your OWN photos. I know Yahoo requires it...which is WHY I don't post my photos on any of their groups, or even link to them Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  15. This has definately been a learning year for Magellan. I think Murphy has had his hand in their event....cause almost everything that could go wrong HAS gone wrong. This could be a VERY good thing for next year. Since So many mistakes have been made...I think the staffers responsible, won't be working on next years Project, and those in charge will be making sure that this years mistakes AREN'T repeated. Frankly...Over all they've still done a good job...It's hard to start out on a National level on something that has SO many different variations on local levels. I look forward to Next years HUnt! Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  16. Question for Dan...... Will stats take care of itself or do you have a lot of work involuved??? 17. Congrats... I see that the weather didn't hold you guys back!!! I am very interested in seeing your log, How wet did you all get, did you hike or bike.etc etc... I've been concerned about this cache ever since I closed the lid on it.... Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  18. I wonder if those in Erie lost their Power??? Here IN PA, we can choice who we want to get our power from..so we have a fairly good Powergrid...so I'm betting they didn't.... What sort of bothers me...is that the Nuclear Powerplants SHUTDOWN!!! a time when they should of increased output, they shutdown! Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....

    Blackout

Well it's common knownledge, that taking out the Niagara Powerplant will shutdown a Huge chunk of the Northeast Powergrid....Take out a few towers on several Transfer lines, and you leave the Northeast in the Dark for a few days. 100th Find

BTW....this Cache IS truely Worthy of a 100 Find. This is one of those Caches that must be experienced to be enjoyed.... If you do this one, I'll be glad to talk to you AFTER you complete it... I don't want to say anything to take away from your joy of this cache. Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....

  22. quote:Originally posted by Prime Suspect: quote:Originally posted by 4x4van:Whenever I get ready to go do some geocaching, I always make sure to use the "Topozone" link on the cache site page to get an elevation. But what about the idea of including the elevation of the site right on the page, below or near the coodinates? Just a thought Most GPSs (consumer grade) are horribly inaccurate when it comes to altitude, unless they've got a built-in barometric altimeter (and it's properly calibrated). Unless both the cache placer and hunter have barometric altimeters, it's pretty pointless. Besides, I really don't see the point, unless the cache is hidden in a high-rise building. Once you get to the cache spot, are there really any _substantial_ elevation choices to be made? (beyond the usual "is it in a tree/on the ground" type choices) http://img.Groundspeak.com/user/3608_2800.gif _"Don't mess with a geocacher. We know all the best places to hide a body."_ Well if you included elevation, then when you get to 250 feet, and you're at 800 feet and the cache is marked 1150 feet, then you know you have a very tough Choice in front of you. If you don't have elevation, and you're at 250 feet, you can say I hope it's NOT up there...but your compass is telling you that IT"S UP THERE... oh Heck...you're right...it's pointless. 23. I was watching Father Goose today, and I realized that this movie has Caches in it...they're not legal Geocache Caches..but they're are Caches....! I wonder how many other movies have caches in them? Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  24. AS a hider of caches inside Pa Finest Public lands, I can tell you first hand.... if it's a Multi-cache, they want to know where each stage is. They do check the areas for sensitive plants or wildlife. They DO search for your cache and HAVE even signed the Log Book. Take the time to talk to the Ranger and they will even point you to some very interesting sites that you didn't know existed!! Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  25. Bump...Enfanta really doesn't want "team EGO-internet" to do a solo venture....So I will team up with any other solo adventurer.... This region was my stomping grounds while I was in college, now it's also been 20 years since I've been in this area, and I know that lots has changed...
