Also, a Multi cache with several stages can take different formats: For example a: each stage has the co-ord for the next or b: location of all stages are given as waypoints and pieces of information for the final is given at each waypoint Type 'b' is preferable to type 'a' as it's easier to estimate how long the entire trail will take beforehand and missing a stage probably wouldn't scupper the whole thing... Hardest traditional caches to find
Delta68 replied to SidAndBob's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I clicked the link out of curiosity and thought it looked familiar. We found it easy enough (we've seen this type of hide quite a few times now) I'd say the clue is more than adequate. The high number of muggles walking past makes it tricky though Mark -
If you know the approximate co-ordinates you could ask a friendly reviewer to have a look for you as they know everything! Mark

Birdie's Cache Setting Challange
Delta68 replied to Birdman-of-liskatraz's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I've thought of a cracking idea for a 'least found' cache. Just need to buy a jar and find somewhere to hide it... Mark -
OK, the idea would be to be able to add trackables to a bookmark list and run PQs which would give the co-ordinates of the caches they are in. This would be very handy for caches which require you to find certain TBs in order to find the final location as well as being able to see at a glance (after importing into Google Earth etc) where your own trackables are I've devised my own method of doing this but a pukka built-in method would be preferable... Thanks Mark

Perhaps your wife's friends would like to start caching. They'll be kicking themselves if they start later and realise they'd missed out on finding a load of European caches. However, we're close(ish) to Statford-upon-Avon if that's any help Mark

Length of time between cache finds

GCWP8F They Seek Us Here, They Seek Us There springs to mind straight away. It went for twenty months between the first two finders.... Mark -
Thanks for the reply!

*bump* For what it's worth Does no-one else ever use this method of adding to bookmark lists?
-
No, It's only got one cache in it - which I added via the 'bookmark listing' link on the cache page. That works OK. I want to add 346 caches and having to open eack page would be very tedious

Adding cache GC codes to bookmark list one GC code at a time via the list's page no longer works. This is since the last site update 24th June Mark

The purpose of this forum is to enable users to: Discuss new features (or feature requests), bugs, etc. specific to the Geocaching.com site. which is a bespoke lump of software as opposed to the forums.Groundspeak.com which is an off-the-shelf package supplied by another company (IPB) Even the latest 'release notes' thread is geting bogged down with posts about the forums Mark

Adding to bookmark list one GC code at a time via the list's page no longer works. I just added a couple of hundred caches before realising!! Mark

We bought one from here. I originally got one from Hong Kong or somewhere via eBay but it didn't work They are well worth having. Be aware though that caches with seven characters in the GC code will get truncated and overwrite other ones. (The way round this is to load waypoints into gsak and use %drop2 when exporting ) Even though we are paperless (MrsD uses an Oregon and I have a Mio P550), I still use the etrex between caches on long trails because the battery life is so good. Personally I prefer GSAK/FindStatsGen over other methods I've tried as you can easily mark moving caches (and a few other oddities) as Locationless and exclude them from your stats. For example, a lot of cachers found Fast Forward - Such den Bulli last August while it was in Harrogate area but their stats would now say that they found a cache in Hannover Mark

I noticed this today It's even worse than before (which was also wrong) I really can't see why this sort order is so difficult to fix! Mark

This bookmark list might be a good starting point Mark

The other morning I was doing my usual morning stuff in the kitchen ( eg empty dishwasher) when I heard our daughter in the next room. I called through to her and there was no reply so I went through and asked if she'd heard me. Yes she had. I asked why she was ignoring me and she said: "Just because I didn't reply it doesn't mean I was ignoring you!" She could get a job at Groundspeak....

XP and Firefox We had used Opera for many years but Firefox is the fave now. IE? Only ever use it as a last resort when web pages won't display properly in FF. This is due to lazy web developers only catering for IE rather than any any fault in the part of other browsers.... Mark (Mr D)

Ermm... but the cache page lists "oldest at the top" I'd have thought it just needs an extra column in the 'order by' on the SQL....
