Is it possible to re-display a previously entered value as the default value if an input is called a second time? eg like the java script: strTxt = prompt("Message", strTxt); or the Visual Basic: strTxt = InputBox("Message", , strTxt) thanks Mark

My Berghaus has lost its waterproofing. I tried one of those £8 per bottle 'wash in' re-waterproofers and it had no effect whatsoever! Any recommendations for something that actually works? Thanks Mark

Surely you mean a 'Needs Archiving'? 'Needs Maintenance' logs are there to help the owner I've seen School Prefect put Needs Archiving logs on a few caches recently and can fully understand why he/she feels the need to use a sock puppet account. Someone else posted Needs Archiving logs (under their own name) on a few abandoned local caches about a year ago and got a barrage of nasty logs in return. Mark

You should have just edited the rejected cache rather than fill out a new form Mark

Why the distinction between the two types of members? I only noticed the different colouring the other day and assumed that one meant that the cacher had had it in their possession for a longer... (Like the two week reminder we used to get) Mark

There is always hope for missing coins & TBs
Delta68 replied to fat boy slow's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
We had a coin as an FTF prize back in August. We dipped it in a few caches on the way to Cornwall and left it near Lands End Delta68's Unfortunate Micro Geocoin and that was it! Gone! It was in a plastic geocoin sleeve (so it wouldn't be too small to be noticed) with its mission on it as well... Stokesy visited the cache a few weeks later and confirmed that the coin wasn't there... Mark -
Film clip with reference to Geocaching
Delta68 replied to drdick&vick's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
It's got some duff dialogue in there. At one point they are standing in the middle of a field and the girl says something along the lines of: "We're looking for a rusty half barrel, split up!" Erm... surely the GPSr would help here. Mark -
Who? Us When? A couple of weeks time Where? BBC Coventry and Warwickshire Why? We had just got back to the car in Priors Hardwick after doing the nearby series (GC1Y3R7 etc) and a man with a microphone stopped and asked if we were out for a walk, he asked if we often came here for a walk so we told him we were Geocaching, he said he'd never heard of it and could he interview us for his show 'Wedge's Warwickshire', so he asked a few questions and we all got a turn to say something. He's going to give us a call but it should be broadcast in a couple of weeks!

Thanks for all the replies PM on its way to Stokesy...

The Mio P550 has got moisture in the screen and has stopped working Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks Mark

GC numbers give you the cache information. Even for archived caches. Not necessarily. The cache could have been submitted and not approved or approved and then retracted. Your ever-so helpful reviewers will be able to tell you all about it Mark

Even if you are able to I say don't do it as it's not fair on those who did it as a multi. This is even more annoying when Puzzles get changed to Trads Mark

That explains why you left a strop (?) and carabiner behind then They're in my caching bag now if you want them back. The three levels of "ooh, I wouldn't want to go in there" factor were interesting when we did that cache. 1) MrsD said that there was no way she would go and get the cache 2) I was a bit apprehensive as I hadn't been abseiling since leaving scouts 25+ years ago 3) For Iain (who provided the kit and Belayed for me) it was no big deal at all and said that if he could have parked his Dakar closer we could have used the winch instead! The OP has set a series of caches and each page describes how the caches relate to each other which is why they the cache pages are all virtually identical. Personally, I would have the full series details on just the first cache and on all the others just stated that the full series is described on the first cache etc... Thanks Mark

'Needs Maintenance' and 'Found it' are two separate log types It would be normal to log a find (assuming you found the cache) and then log a 'Needs Maintenance' A 'Needs Maintenance' can be logged on a cache even if you didn't find it For example, if there has been a string of DNFs on a cache which had previously been found easily by all other cachers which would suggest it has gone missing Mark

Gives us a chance to try out the bugs which we didn't even notice just before they're fixed Mark

That's that one removed from our to-do list then... Mark

We were FTF on this 5/5 a few weeks ago Ooops! This was the fourth 5/5 we've done (one has since been downgraded) and it's the most 5/5ish so far It was great fun. Can't post any photos though as it's a puzzle and photos would reveal its location... Mark

Is this question in anyway connected to certain Multi which has only had two visits since July It's on our to-do list (and watchlist) but it's quite a way from home... Mark

Awesome stuff! We had a DNF logged on one of ours once with a note saying 'It hasn't been found for a month, perhaps it needs checking out' !!! Mark

Thanks moote I already use Big Wolf's macro and write directly to the memory card (when inserted in the netbook) I then have to move the databse to the DB_Files folder with program files on the Mio. If the only way to avoid having to move databases to have it running slower, I don't think I'll bother I bought a 4GB SD card (not HD) about 18 months ago but it failed when we needed it most (sounds dramatic ) I had TomTom for France and Belgium on it in preparation for a daytrip and when we got to Callais, plugged it in and it didn't work - never trusted it since... Thanks for the reply. I suspected this might be the case. I'm sure I read somewhere a few months ago that it was possible to specify a directory with the registered version of Cachemate. I've been using unregistered for ages and just decided to pay for it today thinking that all manner of goodies would be revealed (This is also using a Mio P550) Thanks Mark

A local cacher logged a find on one of our caches and then went out and found it again after we had had to relocate it a short distance away. The second find is valid because it was just as much of a search as the first time. Some people just can't get enough of our caches! Mark

You only have to ask! Mark

Is it possible to change/move the Cachemate database directory to the memory card? Thanks Mark
