This is correct Examples Accidental duplicate logs (seems to happen more frequently these days with people using the iPhone app) When new cachers log a find instead of a note when dropping a TB on the same occasion as the find Actual bogus logs. ie no corresponding name in logbook A few of our caches have genuine multiple finds on them because different members of a family team visited independently on different days. Strange, but OK Thanks Mark

I've just deleted someone's duplicate Found log on one of our caches (this is the second one this week) It would really handy if there was a text input on the confirmation page so an optional 'reason' can be added and then included in the notification email It's not nice to receive log deletion notices, it might just soften the blow a bit to have an explanation at teh same time In cases where it's a duplicate log being deleted, the finder would probably be baffled as to why they received an email anyway as it would not be apparent that log had even been deleted... Thanks Mark

One of our caches has been 'found' three times by one cacher on three separate occasions! People like quality you see Mark

We had a 5/5 find drop to 3/3 once... and likewise had a 5/1.5 find changed to a 5/5 after a cache had had a revamp! Personally, I'd only change the d/t within the first couple of finds (based on feedback) After that, as far as I'm concerned the rating is fixed even if the cache has to be moved or container changed at a later date (Obviously if there was a vast difference it would be best to archive and set a new one.... ) Mark

Until fairly recently the reviewers used to downgrade caches to Trads on request. We have a few 1.5/1.5 Trads on our finds list which started life as 4* or 5* difficulty puzzles Mark

I think the now archived GCP63E The Iron Mountain Travel Bug Motel is the largest we've ever found Mark

10 Year Anniversary events

Yes. Deci It would be logical NOT to increase overall count as they are totally different to normal caches. (eg. It's normal for the event host to claim an 'Attended' but finding your own caches is odd ) Personally, it wouldn't bother me if they didn't add to overall count but events ought to still have their own counts like Benchmarks on this typical Benchmark hunter's profile: 1289 Benchmarks, Total caches found: 44 (profile purely picked at random) Mark -

You mean like the US Benchmarks? Your overall Find count doesn't increase but you get the icon -
It would be a shame to archive such an old cache If you local reviewer can't/won't help, send an email to appeals They are very helpful Mark

There are 1247 attended logs in total on 10 Years! events in the UK 963 cachers/teams attended 10 Years! events in the UK 192 cachers/teams attended more than one 10 Years! event in the UK Quite a few attended 2 or 3 events. figures attended 6 purple_pineapple and walk tall attended 5 and 9 teams attended 4 The Other Stu smstext BaCas AutumnTiger asfastasfcuk Merstham Mafia AmayaTom metal-bijou Heffalump007 Most Attended: GC25CXF Stratford Upon Avon with 89 logs Thanks Mark -
The idea has been mulled over before... Mark

When logging an Attended on an event it would make sense (to me) if the Attended date defaulted to the listed Event date rather than the current date. If someone really does want to log a different date they can adjust it themselves (eg if the only attend one day of a weekend camping event ) Although our 10 Year! event was on the 1st, we've had Attendeds logged on the 2nd, 3rd and even the 4th! In case anyone suggests deleting them etc, they are valid logs - I remember meeting them all - it's just the dates that are wrong... Thanks Mark

Our Stratford Upon Avon Event went really well. We took a gamble holding it out doors but luckily the weather was great. Over 160 people attended and you've only got to read the logs to see what a great time everyone had Stratford is popular with tourists worldwide and three cachers from Slovenia joined in after bumping into some other cacher in town Donna & Mark -
BUG Clicking on a specific cache type icon in the profile page shows all cache types. (this has been mentioned twice in this thread but I can't see a replies)

With the weather forecast not looking too good for tomorrow, I was going to add the 'May Require Wading' attribute as a joke. However, it's not available for events? Events are sometimes set on top of mountains but you can't specify Scenic view or Significant hike Why is this? What's the reason for having a reduced set of attributes available for events? Thanks Mark

I know a local cacher who turned up for a Christmas event about six weeks too late on the 12th of January... Mark

Yes! But only because it's two different things The 10 Year! icons are for the special events this coming weekend. The lackey attended icons are just for the map on the Lost and Found page to show which events lackeys will be attending throughout the Summer ( I think) Mark

You're welcome! Also works for trackables eg: http://coord.info/TB1QWB7

Our caches are placed with the intention that cachers will find them and we will normally go and check on one if it has had a couple of DNFs It would be really handy if the owned caches page http://www.geocaching.com/my/owned.aspx could have 1) a flag to indicate there is a Needs Maintenance attribute on it 2) something to show what the last four logs were eg: (edited to add: or the last five logs to be in line with pq data) Thanks Mark

Yes it's an ALR and no they were not grandfathered in! I emailed Groundspeak directly to clarify this when setting our last Wherigo There is nothing to stop someone who has completed a Wherigo from just passing the final co-ords to someone else - same as any other Multi or Puzzle/Mystery really As long as the name is in the logbook there's nowt you can do about it (even if you suspect/know that the person whose name is in the log wasn't even there at the time) I think this is a bit of an oversight really considering how much effort Wherigos require to set... We've set a few Letter Box Hybrids and on each one we've specified that there are no swaps This is just to reduce the chance of some muppet taking the stamp thinking it's a swap Mark

But it's not possible to see what codes have been issued... is it? Unless someone just creates a whole load of listings hoping to catch the one required code Also, GC1EZEC would have been create by geoaware... Mark

Start with something simple. Adventure type Wherigos are all well and good but it's a real pain reading loads of text on a small screen - even worse in bright sunlight.
