do you have to set it off to be able to log it
It wouldn't be a new idea:

Please please please can someone let me know which three I've accidentally doubled? We have 468 finds on 465 unique caches and it breaks my heart every time I see it.
The easiest way is to use GSAK
In the meantime though, if you view your finds here you have a duplicate on one of the caches on page 17 and also on one of the caches on page 21
Open each cache listing in turn, click 'view all logs' and do a text search for your name to find where you have logged it twice

9. Field note facility
We'd be lost without them....
Not 'lost' exactly but logging finds would be a right pain
-
I'd recommend an Oregon as well - you'll also be able to do Wherigo caches

Could someone check my profile and tell me which ones I've logged 2x?
Thanks,
Kevin

Your best bet would be to report it on the Feedback forum.
The Lackeys can then run YOUR PQ exactly as though it was you running it

who are you?
Just what I was thinking
I think this forum needs a Facebook-style 'Like' feature!
:D

This tread is ancient!
Goodness knows why it's been dug up (yet) again!
Time to remove email notifications from it I think....

I did wonder why you came so far just to clean your shoes
Now do you think the 1.5/5 truly reflected the cache? If you didn't use specialist equipment then I should change it shouldn't I to something like 1.5/3?
Maybe I was just lucky with the river level...

'Several' are used, I set out to visit Craven A in Shropshire, at find 221, to get into the list!
They used to be all on a bookmark list and probably still are, but it looks like the list is no longer public
http://coord.info/GCF55A was in it and I'm pretty sure http://coord.info/GCKTK0 was as well
Mark

Isn't the lack of them part of what makes up the challenge?
Jon
True, and yes we did drive quite a long way to do a certain 1.5/5 last Saturday
It's just that most d/t ratings are just 'pucked out of the air' anyway so why not pluck a more convenient number....?

we're well stocked on 5/5 caches, but need a 4.5 / 5, however I wouldn't feel happy using this cache for it...
Agreed!
5/5 caches are so common these days it's a joke!!
Not too far from us you just have to climb a short way up a tree... hardly very taxing.
Why do COs think that everyone wants to find 5/5 caches?
How about some:
5/3 - only 59 in the UK
5/3.5 - only 17 in the UK
4.5/5 - only 27 in the UK
(There's 146 5/5 caches!!)

Spooky. I was just wondering yesterday if someone could write something that did this....
PQ Scroll
Scrolls the PQ list down to where you were when you tick/untick a pq
Personally, I very rarely schedule PQs on that page but last week another cacher asked me if I could write something to do it

Thanks for your efforts. I was interested in having a look but get HTTP1.1 STATUS 403 Remote Access to this object forbidden This file cannot be directly accessed from a remote site, but must be linked through the Brinkster Member's site.
Help!!!!
I thought that might happen.
I've added a rudimentary default page now so if you got to:
http://www6.brinkster.com/coolsite/greasemonkey/
you can then download the script you want.
Thanks

Didn't think the D/T rating really meant anything on an event cache.
Yes it does, but not if it's in a pub!
eg, An event on the top of Ben Nevis might have a high D/T rating

Its getting late now & I wont be able to be on line until tomorrow evening. Would it be better to take this off board and continue privately if you are willing.
Thanks
David
Yeah sure PM me.
I've just installed FireFox 4.0.1 on my XP laptop and it works fine though!

Sounds good to me but it does not work for me. Using Firefox 4.0.1 and XP. Installed as per the box. Greasemonkey is enabled and customise menu is shown as ticked in the tools menu. Is there something else I have to do?
Hmm....
If you open the 'Error Console' (on the 'Tools' menu) are you getting any errors?

no virtuals, apart from Wherigo, no locationless apart from play anywhere Wherigo, etc etc etc... getting used to the double standards is part of the experience.
No double standards, you are mistaken over Wherigo caches...
Wherigo caches MUST have a physical cache to be cross-listed on geocaching.com
'Play anywhere' Wherigos with no tub can only be listed on Wherigo.com
The correct name* for Wherigos with a physical container is 'Wherigo Hybrid Cache'
If you know of a Wherigo owner who allows continued virtual logging on a Wherigo cache listed on gc.com, you should stick an SBA on it!!
*Deci is the only person ever calls them this but it sounds logical

I've written this Grease Monkey script to modify the new geocaching.com menu.
I wrote it a few days ago and a few bods on Facebook have tried it successfully but I've now simplified it (actually it's a lot more complicated but it looks simpler
) so users can easily tweak it to their own requirements using just two functions:
changeLink() and addSubMenuItem()
(Full instructions in the file)
As it stands there are a few new links and a few modified existing ones which hopefully most people will find useful.

What do I love about caching?
- Bumping into other cachers of all ages and instantly having something to talk about
- Bumping into cachers in Holland/Belgium/Germany etc and instantly having something to talk even if the language is a struggle!
- Driving to places we would never have otherwise gone: Scottish Highlands, Germany, Luxembourg etc
- Finding an ammo-box after long trek
- Going for a walk and walking just that bit further to get a cache when previously we'd have turned back sooner.
- Finding old caches
- Walking 15 miles and stopping at McDonalds on the way home...

Wow, I can't believe a cache owner would place a cache where he KNOWS there are syringes. Yeah, they may have been "clean and unused" at the time, but the fact that they're there indicates to me something is going on in the area.
This surprised me as well!
Sometimes areas deteriorate after placing a cache, but to be honest, there's no excuse for placing a new cache or hanging onto an existing cache cache in a grotty area.
We placed a short series of caches on a pleasant footpath in the countryside with nice views. We had nothing but good logs on them, but when we went to check on them one evening a large farm building had been built near the path between two of them.
It didn't block the path or affect the caches in anyway but the walk was now not as nice as when we placed the caches a couple of years earlier so we archived them.

That's weird... I've had two Groundspeak Lackey geocoins given to me and a couple of Groundspeak Volunteer coins as well. All were transferred to me when I requested it.
Yeah, I know a few others who have similar coins as well
For some reason they are a bit possessive about the 2007 issue...
Mark
-
On a related note, we have a 2007 Lackey Geocoin which we WON in the raffle at the Harrogate Mega (it was actually at the Ripon camping event)
Needless to say I felt conned when I realised it was registered to Signal and Groundspeak refused to transfer ownership

On a non-technical note, if you want to write Wherigos you need to be thick-skinned. When people like them, they like them a lot (our four have all got Favorite points on them)
However, if for some reason cachers can't find the cache they are the worse thing in the world and YOU are responsible for ruining their lives!!
(Or so it seems by reading the DNFs)

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet or not but if you look at someone's profile and click on the Geocaches tab to get a list of caches that user has found, eg here, the 'Last Found' column shows the date that the cache was last found whereas it used to be the date the cache was found by that cacher
Was this intentional?
If so, why the change?
