  1. The Reviewer seemed to think they were multis when they published them.... Who am I to argue?

The rules were clarified/tightened up a couple of years ago

The reviewers still do get it wrong (or should I say let incorrect cache types slip though). Even fairly recently I've seen caches which are obviously Offset/Multis listed as Puzzle/Unknown and vice versa

  2.

I think we all know where to find the CO..!

It's a cache from the twilight zone where all sorts of weird stuff happens... :o

Interestingly, I presume Jeremy put the comment asking for the box to be removed. That's something that reviewers would never suggest these days...

  3. ... but as for finding a cache from every month of geocaching, nope... don't understand that one...

It's just something else to focus on.

Mind you, if caches aren't policed by the CO it does make a bit of a mockey of it. But then the same applies for all other stats

Spotted this rogue log yesterday on the long since archived GC44.

Have a look who the CO is... ;)

  4.

If you have a issue with the other cache, located in another country. Please take that up directly with Groundspeak.

    Noooooooooooo!!

    I think it's a GOOD thing!

I now only have to go to - not saying where ;) - instead of America to fill one particular Month Set square! Still one hell of a drive but I'm sure the Mondeo would make it

The closest March 2001 cache is in The Netherlands. We did another cache about 25 miles from there in 2008 and never realised  (I wasn't 'filling the grid' then)

Another trip to The Netherlands is not out of the question, Cambridge is a somewhat easier to get to though...

  5. Edinburgh will have to be a New Cache Submission as we don't unarchive caches which have been Archived over 12 months...

...Also we don't unarchive caches to allow them to be adopted.

    Deci

    Who is this WE ?

I know of a cache in another country which was archived in 2001, un-archived in April 2006 and adopted to a new owner. Archived again in December 2006 then un-archived in April 2010!

  6. Bobstay (active in June 2011) to see if they can be tempted to replace and reactivate their caches; neither has a proximity issue and both could be adopted

I emailed bobstay a few months ago asking about Waterbeach Island and he said:

Well, I don't live near there any more, and the location where it was placed wasn't actually that well hidden, and probably prone to flooding. Might not be the best idea for the sake of filling in a grid - sorry!

Talking of old caches, we have found ALL of the 10 oldest Active UK MAINLAND caches B)

(Haven't logged them yet though as we only got home yesterday;))

No one else has found all ten but Pyoung1s and aB5dEglYeS5P have found seven of them ;)

  7. We were out caching one day, and the most tremendous noise started up, and got louder and louder, coming from above. And then, at a very low height, a Lancaster bomber flew overhead. I can't remember whether we found the cache or not - who cares?

I think you can safely say 'THE' Lancaster bomber! ;)

There's only two left in the world that can still fly and one of them is in Canada!

Saw it a few years ago very close up on Cleeve Hill: cache log

  8. After coming on here and reading the posts last night I did a search on my local area and found a page and a half of caches requiring a visit.

So The Halflings will be out and about or we could if Delta 68 doesn't mind  pinch the text and set a resuscitator ourselves.

    Halflings dad

Yeah sure! Go for it! :)

When we set ours it wasn't possible to sort a PQ Preview by 'date last found' so it was a lot harder to spot them than it is now...

  9. The first one was our

    GC2FPDY Resuscitator - Challenge Cache

It was just something I though of one day - possibly inspired by Simply Paul's forum thread about forgotten caches

There are three other UK ones that I know of:

GC2HD75 Surrey Resuscitator - Challenge Cache

    GC2K3H6 Chorley Challenge #1

    GC2Y2ZV Northants Resuscitator Challenge Cache

We even had an email from a South African asking if we minded if he copied the idea!! B)

GC315RW Cape Resuscitator - Challenge Cache

It's amazing many forgotten caches get lots of visits once they have been woken up again

  10. Now that the found counts are back on the logs, would it be possible to enhance the script to show them? Preferably just the cache count.

    Yup!

Hopefully have it done this morning

My plan was only to include the cache count as well ;)

  11. I have a bookmark list with all the UK archived Virtuals on it and I get notified when any are logged.

You'd be surprised how many do!

Personally, if I was going to log one I'd OK it with the CO first

Incidentally, I also have a book mark with ALL the old Locationless caches on and you'd be even more surprised to hear that they get logged from time to time as well!

  12. These scripts are a nice idea, but really, should we shave to install scripts to fix what should never have been broken?

You are investing a lot of time and talent in cleaning up mistakes made by some one in a management position at Groundspeak. Wouldn't you think Groundspeak would take note of that and do some of their own "cleaning up"?

    I agree entirely.

Unfortunately Groundspeaks' way of dealing with complaints is just to sit and wait until everyone gives up complaining. The 'Bring back the old smilies' request has been 'Under review' for months now. Goodness knows why they were changed in the first place! I use a GM script to switch them back to the old ones as well.

How many major changes can you name that have ever been backed out?

I can thing of one: the HTML editor for cache pages

  13. Thanks Mark

Next job is to write a script that get rid of the challenges.

    John

That is probably best/easiest done with ABP (Adblock Plus) filters

I have a whole load of filters set up so I can't recall exactly which each one does

These four will help you sleep more easily though: :)
