  1. Go with a model that uses compact flash. I have a viewsonic and while I am pleased with it overall it uses SD and there just doesn't seem to be as many accesories available as with the CF.... No GPS, expensive WIFI, etc...
  2. Map Advisor from quakemap.com is a nice tool. It is offered in palm and ppc versions and will allow for topos to be downloaded from the terraserver. McGoal sez, AAAAAAAAWWWWWW, now I get it!
  3. All is well. I joined the meridian group on Yahoo and downloaded the v4.03. Once I uploaded it to the unit all seems to be okay. I am tempted to reload the v4.02 to see if it there was a glitch in the original load but I am not so inclined at the moment since it is working now. Thanks for all the replies and asistiance. Happy Trails! McGoal sez, AAAAAAAAWWWWWW, now I get it!
  4. Okay, checked all of that originally but went back and did it again to be sure! Went through gps setup as per easygps again as well. Tried in on a different PC just to triple check. Still no connection since upgrading to 4.02. Any thoughts? and Is the old OS still available for download anywhere? McGoal sez, AAAAAAAAWWWWWW, now I get it!
  5. Help! I just upgrade to the v4.02 firmware on my meridian and now I cannot connect to it through my PC. I tried quakemap and easygps and neither will download waypoints. Each indicates the they cannot connect to the gps. McGoal sez, AAAAAAAAWWWWWW, now I get it!
  6. Is there any free software that will download acutual topos to the GPS? I have a Magellan Meridian with a 64mb sd card. I have played with quakemap, easygps, etc. but have not found anything that will download the map, only the waypoints. Anythin I can do with MS MapPoint to the GPS? Or is buying mapsend the only option? Thanks! McGoal sez, AAAAAAAAWWWWWW, now I get it!
  7. $60 for a "good" compass? Are you speaking about a electronic compass? You can definately get a good silwa for a lot cheaper than that! McGoal sez, AAAAAAAAWWWWWW, now I get it!
  8. Magellan Meridian Green or Yellow at outpost.com. You'll be glad you did! McGoal sez, AAAAAAAAWWWWWW, now I get it!
  9. I will be checking into it tomorrow. Thanks! McGoal sez, AAAAAAAAWWWWWW, now I get it!
  10. I would imagine it would just require a bios or firmware upgrade to handle the additional capacity. Have you checked the camera makers website? McGoal sez, AAAAAAAAWWWWWW, now I get it!
  11. Ummmmm yeah, it sure looks like moisture has a direct route to the battery compartment to me. Am I missing something? I am a meridian owner as well and interested. I was thinking of a mesh or net bag. McGoal sez, AAAAAAAAWWWWWW, now I get it!
  12. Dublin. "Boy, it just doesn't snow like it used to when I was a boy" me, Last Winter! McGoal sez, AAAAAAAAWWWWWW, now I get it!
  13. I just purchased my Magellan Meridian Green from outpost.com which is the Online store for Fry's electronics. I ordered it Monday and they delivered in yesterday! It comes with the data cable, 2 enegizer batteries, a quick start guide, and the comprehensize manual on CD. So far it seems perfect and it was 119.99 plus my state tax(Ohio) and 5.95 shipping. Only had it one day but am very pleased! I would do business with fry's again!
  14. The Merigreen is $120 at outpost.com. It does use the SD cards for memory upgrades. The sport trac line does not allow for a upgrade of the memory. I do not have either but have ordered a merigreen from outpost and hope to have it shortly!
  15. I found the Magellan Meridian Green at FRY's - outpost.com for 119.99. Looks like a good deal. I also like the sport-trac map but it doesn't appear to have the expandable memory and I couldn't discern any huge advantage it had over the merigreen. Is this a correct assumption?
  16. Is this the basic Magellan Meridian GPS? I have seen this one advertised and also a Magellan Meridian Yellow which was $10 more. Any difference besides color? I couldn't find the colors on MagellanGPS.com. I am new to Geocaching and this will be my first GPS. Are the SD memory cards proprietary in any way or will it accept any SD memory card? Anyone use Delorme Hunt'n Map? It is NMEA compliant so will it work with the Magellan? Thank for bearing with me and all these questions!
