Mi opinión sobre los cachés "urbex": Estoy convencido que la inmensa mayoría no deberían ser publicados ya que van contra las "guidelines". Están puestos en zonas privadas (que aun que estén abandonadas, lo siguen siendo) con acceso restringido (aunque no haya control efectivo). Allá cada uno con lo que quiera hacer o no, pero el Geocaching no debería utilizarse para facilitar una actividad que consiste en entrar en propiedades restringidas. Por otra parte, creo que las desavenencias personales que podáis tener Panadero y tu podríais resolverlas en privado, no mediante puyas en logs y foros.

Lol. I think I did not express myself well due to lack of fluency with English. With the "mark with a groove" I meant writing using grooves. I remember that on that occasion I put an "ANP" (for short I did not put the entire nick) like the one in the attached photo (although now it smeared some ink). Well, I understand that signing is an action that is carried out on the logbook to modify it evidently as proof of presence, and is in the original essence of geocaching. Otherwise, in current times, it would be more practical (and ecological) that there would be no logbooks and that all the logs would require a photo of the inside of the container, but that would be another game. Personally I am not opposed to the photos (and I accept them in my caches, although I miss that they are not included in the notification email). But I do recognize that the essence of this game is the physical demonstration of having found the cache. In addition, and although it is really rare nowadays, there is the possibility of going to a cache and not having a way to take a photo. It happened once to me, that I went with my GPSr but I left my mobile at home. In the GZ the pen did not work, so I had to leave the signature marking a groove in the logbook without the possibility of taking a picture. At least the signature was visible (without ink) and without damaging the logbook.

My current standard: - I find the cache, the loogbook is writable and I have a pen: Sign the logbook and log a Found It - I find the cache, the loogbook is writable and I haven't a pen (or it doesn't work): Try to leave a mark* as signature (without damaging the logbook), log a Found It and upload a pic of the mark in the logbook - I find the cache, the logbook is too wet to write and I have a pen or not: Don't sign and log a DNF + NM - I find the cache and there is no logbook: Don't sign and log a DNF + NM I used to upload pics of the logbbook (and only the logbook) when I had not a pen with me (sometimes a unexpected caching season, sometimes s*** happens), but given that sign the logbook is a key task for finding a cache, I sign with a mark. Nowhere, I think, says you should put your full username and date as only way to sign. *By a mark i mean try to paint an A with some grass or make a light groove on the paper. No cut the paper of sign with blood or mud.

Hay tantas cosas que las directrices no dicen que no se puedan hacer.... Ese no es un argumento válido, ya que lo que si dicen es como tienen que ser esas tareas. Otra cosa es que quieras añadir mil preguntas adicionales, pero tienes que dar por válido el log de aquel que te haya contestado a las relacionadas con aspectos geológicos a partir de la información del listing y el análisis de lo que allí ves. Argumentum ad hoc. El que haya uno, o más, casos de EC publicados con ese tipo de preguntas no es indicativo que sus preguntas estén totalmente acordes con las directrices. Y hay muchos posibles motivos (cambios normativos, carga de trabajo de revisores, cambios postpublicación, ...). Uno de ellos, el que aplica a ese EC, es el que ha comentado GeoDeep, que es anterior al último cambio de normas. Otro argumento falaz. Los eventos, al igual que los EC, tienen sus reglas/directrices claras y no son tan difíciles de cumplir si se quieren crear ambos tipos de caches. Otra cosa es que se quieran retorcer las cosas para crear variantes que nos interesen. Dentro de las directrices se puede hacer todo tipo de goecaching. De este hilo me parece genial que ha sido propuesto para hacer consultas de cara a hacer EC "de calidad" (por cierto, hay un hilo similar en el Subforo de ECs, eso sí en inglés, pero que puede llegar a más gente realmente interesada en los EC). En mi opinión el primer indicativo de calidad es ceñirse a las directrices (actuales). Si lo que se va a "debatir" aqui es como puentear esas directrices yo ya no estoy tan seguro de querer participar. Un último apunte a nivel personal. Al igual que me parece bien que se use este hilo como consulta para mejorar en la creación de ECs, no es menos cierto que me preocupa que el origen del mismo sea un reto o desafío para crear ECs. Desde mi punto de vista es contraproducente incentivar de forma masiva la creación de ningún tipo de cache. De hecho creo que es una visión que deben compartir en HQ ya que, si no me equivoco, nunca hubo ninguna promoción, souvenirs o puntos en la friend league relacionados con la creación de ningún tipo de cache. Como GeoDeep ha dicho, un EC es bastante complejo, y quizá lanzar el reto para que mucha gente cree el suyo no es la mejor manera de aumentar la calidad. Para mi, el gran problema que tienen los EC es que en una alta proporción de ellos han sido propuestos como Virtuals alternativos, pero aprovechando el más mínimo resquicio de curiosidad geológica para venderlo como EC. Los últimos cambios en las guidelines de EC han ido en el sentido de evitar eso en buena medida (pero como siempre, hecha la ley hecha la trampa, especialmente cuando la ley no es "una regla inamovible"). Yo apostaría que si no hubiera restricciones en cuanto a los Virtuals, la mayoría de EC de los últimos años se hubieran publicado como Virtuals y no como EC Un EC lo debería crear quien tenga claro que no es un Virtual y tenga de verdad ganas de esforzarse en dar a conocer, de forma didáctica, un aspecto geológico. Pero insisto, es mi opinión personal y ya se que es bastante minoritaria en una cultura del cuanto más mejor.

Esas preguntas irían en contra de las directrices específicas: Logging an EarthCache requires visitors to undertake site-specific tasks that provide a learning opportunity related to the topic. Visitors will use the information from the cache page along with their on-site observations to perform some type of analysis. Vamos, que las tareas o preguntas deben poder resolverse con la información que da el listing junto a la observación in situ del lugar, nada más. El mejor consejo que se puede dar es leer las directrices y ceñirse a ellas, que bien simple son y no hay necesidad de volver las cosas complejas.

I'm with you in all the rationale. However, I believe, from the perspective of those who do not want souvenirs, that it would be better to opt out than opt in. I will try to explain it. With opt in those who do not want souvenirs we would be happy because we would not have to do anything actively. But surely many would protest that they do not read the changes / mails and it could be that they missed the opportunity to win that souvenir they really wanted. Surely the option could be taken retroactively, but I suppose that supposes an extra work programming of the databases. I think that in the end there would be more complaints by people who failed to make the opt in than current complaints about eliminating souvenirs. With a general option of "do you want souvenirs?" plus a link to opt out each promotion in particular (in case you have not said no to the general question) I think it would be easier for everyone. Those of us who do not want any souvenirs, we would only have to mark the option once. Those who simply do not want certain souvenirs associated with specific promotions simply have to be alert when those promotions are announced. For the rest of people, life would remain the same.

Probably is a problem related to your browser/configuration. The About input field is resizable (as on4bam showed) in all the modern browsers I could use in the last months (FF, Chromium, Chrome or Safari). Also I've never had any problem by copy&paste from the input field to a (true) text editor (I work in Linux, so MS Notepad is not an option). So, try another browser and check if the problem persists.

Ya se que la mayoría de Earthcaches son muy de copia y pega pero según las guidelines y el Help Centre se deberían escribir en tus propias palabras y dando crédito a las fuentes. En las guidelines de Earthcaches: Y en el artículo del Help Centre sobre los Earthcaches (disculpa que no traduzca, pero tengo todo en inglés y no si hay un enlace directo a una traducción): Digo esto por que tus tres primeros párrafos son un corta y pega sin acreditar, probablemente de https://www.definicionabc.com/geografia/cerro.php. La foto no se si tiene copyright (sólo la he visto en otros blogs que tampoco acreditan su origen) pero que no aparezca al buscar cerro testigo en Google imagenes con derechos de reutilización ya es mala señal, de todos modos habría que indicar su origen. El cuarto párrafo es un 90% de Wikipedia (https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerro_de_San_Cristóbal_(Valladolid)) y sin acreditar. El quinto, parecido, sacado casi integramente de https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerro_testigo. Vamos que todo el listing es un copia y pega y no pones las fuentes. Con las guidelines en la mano no se debería publicar así, otra cosa es que por diferentes motivos se están publicando earthcaches así (he llegado a ver 4 listings idénticos sobre la misma formación geológica). Las preguntas me parecen bien, aunque quizá yo añadiría al listing (a no ser que haya algún cartel en la zona que hable de los materiales) algo para saber diferenciar calcita de arcilla, ya que no todo el mundo tiene por que tener claro la diferencia. En cuanto a la pregunta que te falta relativa al sitio recuerda que, según las guidelines, tiene que hacer referencia a algún aspecto geológico (Questions that only serve to prove that someone visited the site but do not relate to the site's geology are not permitted.) aunque, otra vez, parece que hay muchos EC que no cumplen esto. Ya se que es una opinión impopular y que mi visión es demasiado reglamentista, pero creo que el listing de un earthcache merece crear una redacción propia que vaya más allá de interconectar párrafos copiados de diversas fuentes sin citarlas. Hacer el esfuerzo de redactar con tus propias palabras y de forma sencilla y didáctica todo lo que has investigado sobre una característica geológica, añadiendo enlace a las fuentes, está dentro del espíritu de los EC. En mi opinión, y agradezco poder darla a un EC antes de ser enviado a publicar, para hacer un EC de calidad lo mínimo es adherirse a las guidelines de los mismos. Ánimo con la creación de ese EC, por lo que veo escasean en la zona.

And that's why L0ne.R has also mentioned: So, if you put a new cache you can also make a great tribute to that log history by making easy to know we can find the archived listing/logbook for all those new visitors to the location. Even you can put the archived owner's name in the "hide by" field and the original date of hiding. It would be like an adoption but just with a new GC-code and an active owner. Perfect solution to me.

I have a related objection, because several of you have suggested changing the questions of an EC. Well, the end of the article explains how to get the coordinates with the official geocaching app.... Anyway, take a look to some advices given in this thread: Most accurate way to get coordinates for a hide (Android) like for example make sure your phone location settings are in "GPS only" or start your measure far from the GZ and then walk into the GZ after some time (let to link several satellites + accuracy tends to improve when you are moving). Of course, checking in "satellite" view in gmaps is very useful to avoid big mistakes.

The problem (sharing answers and log without actual visit) is not limited to Earthcaches and Virtuals. There is a lot of this in misteries, wherigos, letters, multis and geo-art. In physical caches you have the signature as a proof, however it is also not a proof (there are "teams" signing as a tour and some users never been there also made the log). But in Earthcaches and Virtuals this is an unavoidable issue, as the requeriments are not "physical" so they are more feasible cheated. In fact, some of the virtuals requiring some specific photos (i.e. with the username and date written in a paper) are being photoshoped. Geocaching is a game of honesty, and there is a general lack of it around the globe. You should accept this fact when owning a EC or VC. And yes, it's sad and demotivating, especially when people with that attitude are later on are the most proud of their statistics and achievements. But you have to learn to live with it, because there is no feasible solution to eradicate that problem. I encourage you not to archive those ECs.

Creo que, de hacerse de forma generalizada, no serviría de nada y complicaría innecesariamente la burocracia. No es por pecar de pesimista, pero si ya hay gente que modifica los listing tras publicación no sería raro pensar que enviasen una foto/video que no corresponda con lo que al final quede escondido. En ese aspecto seguiríamos encontrando caches clavados a un árbol, enterrados, en zonas restringidas.... para eso no serviría y habría que seguir confiando en la comunidad. Y digo que complicaría el proceso ya que, aunque parezca raro, no todo el mundo tiene facilidad para sacar una foto in situ de su escondite. Además creo que comería tiempo a los revisores que tendrían que prestar atención a detalles en la foto. Pero vamos, que eso lo digo desde fuera, quizá los revisores lo vean bien y sea algo a valorar, al menos en ciertas circunstancias o casos. Ellos son los que lo tienen que valorar.

Lo curioso es que luego no se dan esa prisa (o eso parece haciendo una generalización muy amplia) que piden en hacer el mantenimiento de sus tropecientos caches que lo necesitan.

Perhaps if event owners were not allowed to log attended their own events then this kind of events would be much rarier. I know it is a question of semantics, but if owners cannot found what they hid, then they also cannot "attend" what they organize (their attendance is intrinsic to the event), and then hosting events should not increase found stats, only hide. Anyway, this is a minor issue that only would affect others in rare cases.

Según lo que expones y lo que aparece en el centro de ayuda sobre los multis sí que es más apropiado que sea un multi siempre y cuando: - Tenga múltiples etapas (las tiene) - Las coordenadas publicadas sean las de la primera etapa (en vez de waypoint publicas las coordenadas iniciales a esa primera pista) - Y, sobre todo, el cache final se pueda encontrar mediante la lectura del listing y siguiendo sus instrucciones in situ (sin tener que hacer investigaciones o cálculos más allá de lo que hay descrito en el listing). Sea como fuere que lo vayas a poner, mi consejo es que indiques claramente en el listing el número de etapas y la duración prevista, al menos si tienes interés en que los viajeros ocasionales que pasen por la zona visiten la ubicación final. Los multis suelen ser los menos visitados cuando en una zona hay pocos geocachers ya que los "turistas" suelen preferir tradicionales (o misteries que traigan resueltos de casa) si su tiempo por la zona es limitado
