  1. I could take your request in one of two different ways. Are you having trouble finding the caches themselves when in the libraries, or having trouble finding a list of caches that are located in libraries?

If the latter, the word 'library' might not be enough. For example, here's an entire series of 26 local ones that use "DPL", the abbreviation for Denver Public Library http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?guid=4efd5f25-29bc-4089-9969-88a378708443

  2. I'm really new to this. Got introduced by my s-i-l and her friend and have really enjoyed the 5 I've found!! I 'accidently' dragged my hubby into a 3 star terrain cache and I FOUND IT!! He likes going, but is not able to go a lot b/c he's disabled from disc and bone degeneration. I live in NE MS and I am really not far from NW AL, about an hour from here to Memphis, Jackson, TN is not very far, Tupelo is right below me...I also go to Clarke County, MS and Pearl River County, MS b/c of family/friends. I'm looking for someone who is interested in meeting up from time to time to go cache around the areas mentioned. For 'buddy' purposes. Please let me know if there's someone that is interested in doing this. Thanks! :)

Join the Mississippi Geocachers Association website (msga.net) and you will find some fine geocachers in your area. Or, email the hider of the cache you found via the geocaching email address and they will probably be glad to help you. If you come to the Jackson, MS area, contact me, I will be glad to make a cache run with you.

  3. Anyone here live anywhere near Cleveland, MS? I am relatively new to geocaching (found my 1st one back in late June or early July). I'd like to meet some fellow geocachers and maybe we could go caching together sometimes?

So is anyone near me by chance?

I will be in Cleveland on weekend of October 10th if you would like to make a cache run. I would like to do a Charleston to Grenada run. Let me know your plans.

  4.

There's at least one, probably more.

www.MSGA.Net has no ads, doesn't use a free hosting site, or any of that.

The Mississippi Geocachers' Association website is free of all advertising. Hosting services are donated by an MSGA member, so they have no costs associated with hosting the site.

Alabama has free hosting and we have donated hosting. Where did we go wrong??????

  5.

He didn't solve the puzzle, but he was there, and he signed the log.

    That's okay by me.

If they've signed the log book, and written a nice online log, what else can you expect?

Hmmmm, that's interesting. What happens when you show up and the log book has been moved and the explanation was " That cacher didn't solve the puzzle so I moved the cache".

  6. Agreed, that should have been the last word. However, the debate thrives. Much like the proverbial dog and his tail, our discussion now has a direction:

Could this debate thrive on the Mississippi Forums???????? Nada. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the National Forum Moderators for allowing meaningful discussion and the dog to chase his tail without a moderato locking down the thread. I know, I'm off topic, but I couldn't resist. Sorry.

So far we have three new caches in Mississippi called "Cache Full of Junk" and a 4th is being hid as we speak. I have found all three and they are loaded with high end items. The FTF on each gets an ammo can full of high end items for him to hide. But....they have to do the same as a FTF prize when the hide the ammo can. Neat idea, huh???? I guess we could thank Pat for that. The fact that Pat wanted to air it on a National Forum and it didn't get locked down has allowed a wide variety of opinions and the creation of a series of cache hides in Mississippi. This would have never happened if the moderator had chose to lock it down. Yea, I know. I'm back off topic again, or am I?

  7.

Puzzle caches will always have fewer finders than traditional caches. We have a relatively small group of puzzle cache fans in our area, and I probably enjoy writing the cache listing as much as they enjoy solving the puzzle.

There is a trade-off to writing a really hard puzzle cache listing. On the one hand, you'll have a limited number of actual finders. On the other hand, puzzle cache fans email the link to each other, and it gets solved by some folks who would never otherwise look at one of your listings.

Keeping the puzzle caches out there also provides a change of pace for cachers who occassionally get tired of just following the GPS, and would like a bit more of a challenge.

Mr. Webchimp, Sir. I love your PMO puzzles. Yogi loves them too??? Keep up the good work. It takes a village to solve most puzzles. Do you agree? Send me the link to a resource for your newest puzzle cache. Difficulty 5????? Geeez. I've been up all night working on that thing. Help. Help.

  8. Check TB1G7FH. I made 5 of these in sterling silver, and have used them as very special thank you gifts. He tried to trade for a gold and a silver coin, but instead I gifted him a gold which I had extra and another HTF collectible in another area we both collect in. Apparently he decided that his need for a perfect collection is more important than anything else, so he had a counterfeit made (for all I know, maybe the gold coin, TB1G7F6, is counterfeit also), affixed tracking numbers from some other coin series to the coins, activated them, and is showing them off in his collection.

What is a Silly Animal Geocoin??? The picture of your silver coin has been removed. My logs on the coin page have been deleted.

  9. Oh, and it never pays to tell your cache reviewer "I told you so" in such a tone.

I had wondered years ago why Bill just all of a sudden went inactive. Now I think I see what was going on that caused him to get out of caching. I think another one of those Vicksburg area cachers had a run in with Max and he is gone also. Max don't approve MS caches anymore. Mtn-man does most of our approving now. Really surprised to see Bill post on these forums but I guess he wanted to get one last shot. Maybe he will get active again and start hiding some new caches in the Vicksburg area.

  10. Today I noted a new cache! When I opened in up to learn more about it, I was turned away because I'm not a premium member :) . I realize there is need to fund geocaching.com, but I think allowing caches only available to premium members is a bad idea. This sort of thing can lead to a trend that which may scare off new cachers who aren't willing to put pay to join something they're not sure they want to be part of. I know it would have kept me out :) .

    I agree.

  11. Is there any way to look at a whole page of most recent travel bug movement. I can look at the 20 most recent movements but at times I like to look at more than that. Just curious if any one knows of a way to look at the movement sort of like what you can do with the Jeeps. I can look at a whole page of jeep movements.

  12. The winners pot was a smorgasbord of great coins, and my second place haul came to about 50 coins, as well as the chips Steve gave me extra as the second runner up.

I greatly enjoyed the game, the events and the people. Thanks to all who were involved.

All I want is the MerMissie coin that was in the haul. Congratulations on 2nd place. Now come home and share the bounty.

  13. I've said it ever since the PMO cache idea surfaced that it was not good for the caching community as a whole. All the other PM features is fine for the $30 fee. If I wanted them, I would pay the $30. I don't. But.....I do like to find and log all caches I find.

Well now I'm confused Ron. What about your premium member alias, geoplanet? :D

Will the real geoplanet please stand up. This is a real interesting twist caused by a feature of the PMO's. It seems that the PMO cache owner gets notified of everyone who views the cache page. I promise, I'm not geoplanet. I'm Ronbo and I love to ronbo caches. Might want to check with the Mississippi Bounty Hunter??? I hope Mississippi doesn't get a bad image in the caching community from this thread. We are the Hospitality State and welcome all to come caching in Mississippi.

    With Kindest Regards,

    Ron Willett aka Ronbo

  14. Go to any cache. Click the link, "log your visit."

That will take you to a page with a url such as http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?ID=89885

If you know the numeric ID of the MOC cache you want to log, just change the number at the end of the url.

If you don't know the numeric ID, change the "ID=" to "WP=" and replace the number with the GC code so you get:

    http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?WP=GCGTAE

From there just log as usual.

How do you get the ID #? How do you get the GC#?
