Yes, I had been experiencing that phenomenon too, since the lastest ‘upgrade’. I too had found it equally tiresome and user-unfriendly but had assumed it was a new ‘feature’ that I was simply going to have to get used to. If it’s equally annoying to others and is perhaps an unintentional addition (and you guys can get the pages to stop doing it), then please do.

That's what I recently had to fix with Kit and the Wherigo Foundation site. PKCE (proof key code exchange) is a way to make it more difficult for someone to intercept your login. The app will have to send something in addition to what it usually sends, then validate against it. It seems Groundspeak sent information out to all API developers about a year ago for this. I didn't "get the memo", so to speak, because I had changed my email address and never alerted someone at Groundspeak. @spstanley, are you still handling the iOS player app? PKCE is covered in the API documentation.

For other reasons, I just bought/downloaded a section of Ordnance Survey maps for the first time, into the app I use. Utterly unimpressed, far inferior to OpenStreetMap IMHO. Less detail, and you only get blurriness when you zoom in. I won't use it. A total waste of a few dollars. No better than the gov't maps from my own country, same quality. Suggestion to OS fans with a dead caching app: Check out 3rd-party (but official partner) apps that support OSM (there are a good number). You might be pleasantly surprised.

If I look at the URL that's generated, it looks like it has the query string "state=&error=invalid_request&error_description=Code+challenge+required+to+enforce+PKCE+validation". I don't know what exactly "Code challenge required to enforce PKCE validation" means, but it's obviously some kind of auth error, and maybe someone else will know.

For example, “Excuse me mate, sorry I bumped into you!!” or “Hey mate, are you geocaching?” or when someone needs help, “Hey mate, do you need a hand with that?” For the last three years, on the 8th May, I’ve held an event to celebrate one of the best things I like about geocaching, the Geo-Mates one meets through this great activity. It’s a time when we can catch up with old Geo-Mates and make lots of new ones, and celebrate that friendship. As many of you have done, I’ve made so many great geo-mates all around the world. My events are held at a local watering hole here in Sydney, with a very Australian name, The Ettamogah Hotel. Mich nervt es auch manchmal, wenn Leute im großen Stil einfach Finalkoordinaten "organisieren", aber in ihren Logs dann direkt oder implizit vorgeben, das Rätsel "schon lange gelöst" (o.ä) zu haben. Wenn man auf eine Rätsellösung nicht selbst draufkommt (passiert mir ja auch oft genug), dann sollte man sich meiner Meinung nach zumindest die Lösung grob erklären lassen, und nicht einfach Koordinaten abgreifen. Jedenfalls habe ich mir vor Jahren auch mal Gedanken gemacht, ob man irgendwie einen Mystery bauen kann, bei dem jeder Finder (bzw. mindestens einer in jeder Gruppe, die den Cache findet) die Rätsellösung zumindest verstanden haben muss. Also entweder selbst gelöst, oder eine Erklärung bekommen und diese auch kapiert, aber eben nicht einfach Koordinaten kassiert haben. Aber weil es ja bekanntlich für ein Fundlog ausreicht, zu den Finalkoordinaten zu marschieren und das Logbuch zu signieren, war klar, dass es mit einem statischen Final (der also an derselben Stelle bleibt) keinesfalls funktionert, egal wie viele clevere Rätsel man noch vor Ort installiert (denn auch deren Lösungen werden dann ja weitergegeben). Am Ende kam diese Idee heraus: Ein Rätsel im Listing, das sehr schwer (aber natürlich nicht "unlösbar") ist. Also ein klassischer D5er. Die Lösung des Rätsels sind Koordinaten, die zu einer Zwischenstation vor Ort mit einem weiteren Rätsel führen. Das Rätsel an der Zwischenstation ergibt die FInalkoordinaten. Es ist sehr einfach lösbar, wenn man das Listingrätsel verstanden hat, aber definitiv unlösbar, wenn nicht. Nach jedem Fundlog gehe ich zur Zwischenstation, tausche das dortige Rätsel aus, so dass sich andere Finalkoordinaten ergeben, und verlege die Dose nach dort. Damit der vorherige Schritt ggf. sehr schnell zu erledigen ist, habe ich 10 verschiedene mögliche Finalpositionen vorab im Wald ausgesucht, die Koordinaten eingemessen und je ein Zwischenstationsrätsel mit passendem Ergebnis gebaut. Alle 10 vorbereiteten Finalpositionen sind im Listing als versteckte physische Waypoints gelistet. Die aktuelle Finalposition zusätzlich als versteckter Finalwegpunkt. An den 9 Stellen, an denen der Cache (gelistet als "Small") nicht liegt, liegen Micros (Filmdosen), die nur einen Hinweis enthalten in der Art "Hier ist nicht der Final von GCxxxxx. Gehe zur Zwischenstation und löse das Rätsel". Bei einem Verschieben des Final muss ich also "nur": Zur Zwischenstation, und den Zettel mit dem Rätsel austauschen Zur alten Finalposition laufen, dort die 10. Filmdose platzieren, die Finaldose mitnehmen und zur neuen Location bringen, und die dortige Filmdose nach Hause mitnehmen. Den versteckten Finalwaypoint im Listing auf die neuen Finalkoordinaten ändern, damit alles seine formale Richtigkeit hat. Die Waldgegend, wo sich alles abspielt, kann ich mit dem Auto in 10-15 Minuten erreichen, und die Waypoint liegen maximal 10 Minuten zu Fuß vom Parkplatz. Das geht also auch mal schnell bei schlechtem Wetter nach Feierabend. Vor der eigentlichen Installation des ganzen Brimboriums habe ich mir das Konzept natürlich vom Reviewer absegnen lassen. Nach inzwischen fast 7 Jahren kann ich sagen: Hat es funktioniert? Im Prinzip ja. Niemand ist einfach mit Koordinaten zur Dose und hat geloggt. Viele andere ältere schwere Mysterys haben auch nach Jahren eine recht konstante Fundrate, weil viele Cacher halt die Koordinaten von irgendwo her haben. Bei meinem Cache dagegen sind es inzwischen eher so 1-3 Funde pro Jahr. Ob tatsächlich mal jemand mit geschnorrten FInalkoordinaten los ist, und dann nur eine Filmdose ohne Logbuch gefunden hat, weiß ich nicht. Denn das würde vermutlich keiner zugeben. Jedenfalls stehen alle Online-Finder auch im richtigen Logbuch (kann ich bei jeder Verlegung ja checken). Würde ich die Methode empfehlen? Definitiv nein! Das war ein Riesenaufwand, gerade am Anfang, als die Fundrate noch höher war. Es hat sich rumgesprochen, dass der Final immer verlegt wird, d.h. ich musste wirklich zeitnah nach einem Fund handeln, damit die "Spezialisten" nicht einfach den letzten Finder löchern, und gleich ein oder zwei Tage später selber losziehen. Quintessenz: Ich habe es zwar geschafft, die reinen "Koordinatenschnorrer" auszutricksen, aber dass der Aufwand die Sache wert war, würde ich eher nicht unterschreiben.

Weshalb sollte man alles wissen/können? Du lässt Dir ja auch keinen T5-Cache von einem Taucher an die Oberfläche holen und laberst dann im Log etwas von "....war ganz schön anstrengend...". Gerade *weil* ALLE ALLES unbedingt loggen wollen, entsteht der Eindruck, dass ALLE ALLES wüssten...

Greetings-- Just upgraded to a GPSmap 67i from a 64st, added a 32gb microSD card, and the first thing I noticed it that when plugged into the Mac, it no longer shows up as a drive (or 2) on my desktop, thus my iCaching software doesn't see it directly for purposes of export. Garmin support told me I needed the Android File Transfer utility see the units directory and transfer files to the GPX directory. That worked, booted up and voila!. Tried to find them again the next day and nothing. Support had me verify the PQs were enabled and to use both AFT to load files to the directory, import them into BaseCamp then Xfer to the 67i. After reinstating BC (not my favorite piece of software), I was able to get the PQ loaded onto the unit. Not exactly a clean way to do so after the iCaching/GPSmap 64st combo I've used for years. Does anyone know a more efficient way to do so? I can run Windows and try GSAK, but would rather not.

The problem of the text field disappearing has been intermittent. Lately, it has been working. But a new problem has arisen. After editing the text, the page returns to the top of the page instead of staying where it is. When you are editing a number of caches on a list, this is tiresome. Please help.

Ja ok, geht mir auch so. Aber vielleicht wird das auch etwas provoziert von Leuten, die in gewisserweise erwarten, dass man einen Cache nur dann loggen darf wenn man auch das Rätsel selbst gelöst hat. Oder vom allgemeinen Zeitgeist, der erwartet das jeder immer und überall perfekt und der Größte ist, alles weiß und alles kann.

Since yesterday, when I open the View Browse map function in Edge I draw a blank. In Chrome this works just fine. Is this an Edge problem or what else could cause this?

Aber geht's nicht genau darum? Diese verlogenen "schon vor langer Zeit gelöst" Logs bei denen Du sofort merkst, dass da keine einzige Minute aufgewendet wurde. Ich mag es einfach nicht, angelogen zu werden. Spiel hin oder her.

In den Guidelines findest du: For physical caches other than challenge caches, any additional logging requirement (ALR) beyond finding the cache and signing the log must be optional. Caches can be logged online as "Found" after the geocacher has visited the coordinates and signed the logbook. Physical Caches mit ALRs (Außnahmen sind lediglich Challenges) werden seit 2009 nicht mehr gepublished. Von daher "Nein" deine Idee lässt sich auf dieser Plattform nicht umsetzen. Und bevor du jetzt auf die Idee kommst, so etwas als Challenge zu beschreiben, für eine Challenge muss der Loggende eine definierte Menge/Schnittmenge an Caches finden, um eine Geocaching bezogene Aufgabe (-> Challenge) zu erfüllen.

Als "Bescheißen" empfinde ich das ganz und gar nicht. Gibt es irgendwo Regeln und Gesetze die sagen, dass man alles selbst lösen muss? Entsteht jemandem ein Schaden wenn man es nicht tut? Wie häufig löst ein Cacher tatsächlich alle Rätsel alleine oder macht man das doch oft im Team (dann löst es mal der eine und mal ein anderer)? Andererseits würde ich aber auch nie behaupten, ich hätte ein Rätsel gelöst wenn ich die Koordinaten (oder die Lösung) irgendwo her habe. Warum auch.

Trotzdem empfinde ich es jeweils als "Bescheissen" wenn Leute in den Logs so tun, als hätten sie das Rätsel gelöst... sie die Koordinaten aber anderweitig "organisiert" haben. Die Tatsache, dass sie in den Logs dann ja eben *nicht* die Wahrheit schreiben, zeigt ja eigentlich auch, dass sie es ebenfalls nicht korrekt finden. Aber Du hast natürlich Recht: Während sich der physische Eintrag vor Ort durch die Regeln "erzwingen" lässt, gilt das nicht für das Lösen des Rätsels. Wir haben gestern einen Mystery-Multi Cache geloggt, bei dem man zuerst eines der unsäglichen Puzzles hätte lösen müssen. Null Bock! Wir haben dann aber (selbst!) erkannt, wo wir uns "real" in den Multi einklinken können und haben ihn regulär zu Ende gespielt. Habe das im Log ehrlich geschrieben (natürlich ohne Hinweis über das "wie") und hätte auch *NIE* jemanden angebaggert, um an die Koordinaten zu kommen.

Das wirst du wohl kaum erzwingen können, warum auch? Das ganze ist ein Spiel und soll dem Finder Spaß machen, wenn ich gerne Caches suche aber nicht gerne Rätsel löse (oder zumindest nicht so, wie der Owner sich das wünscht) warum sollte ich das nicht tun dürfen?

Hallo liebe Community, ich stehe vor einem Problem, bei dem mir eventuell Erfahrene helfen können. lch möchte gerne ein Rätselmulticache verstecken, dabei soll mir aber bewiesen werden vom Finder, dass er auch alles selbst erarbeitet hat. Hintergrund ist der, dass dieser optional gemacht werden kann, um zu einer Prüfung zugelassen zu werden (Ehrenamt); denn nicht jeder kann sich beruflich bedingt heutzutage die Zeit nehmen um an festen Terminen vor Ort zu sein. Problem ist aber, dass man nun einfach die Endkoordinaten von jemand anders erhalten könnte der es schon gemacht hat. Wer hätte eine Idee, wie ich das umsetzten kann, dass wirklich jeder diese Caches besucht? Vielleicht seh ich den Wald vor lauter Bäumen nicht 😃 Liebe Grüße, Stefan

I have the exact same problem, not sure if it is coincidence with my iphone 13 having a software update Tried multiple times over the weekend, I managed to download the cache into the Wherigo web page but then couldn't get into the App to start the game

Prices for a cup of coffee (filtered) were around EUR 1.80 in NRW last year in summer. Specialties like cappuccino were at EUR 2.20. Don't know if that has changed (as I were not in a café since last autumn) , but I read some articles on general price increases lately (due to the change of the VAT rate from the reduced 7% from Corona time to the usual 19%), but I don't think they doubled it. Will have a look and report on the next visit (hopefully soon).

Interesting. I have a 'stage' of an adventure in the same park that I may have to adjust to another location. It used to be open to the public apart from special events - they would sometimes rent it for weddings on weekends. Lately, it seems to be closed pretty much 24/7/365.

I just downloaded Wherigo for my iPhone to try out a Wherigo cache for the first time, and when I attempt to login via geocaching.com, nothing seems to happen. I get to a screen that says: "Complete Setup. Geocaching needs permission to share your account information with Wherigo." and there is a button that says "Agree". However clicking the button just seems to reload the page and never logs me into the app.
